Understand the dua
Background & benefit
Several authentic narrations describe the Prophet ﷺ visiting the sick, placing his hand on them, and saying “Allāhumma Rabban‑nās, adhhib al‑ba’s, ishfi anta ash‑Shāfī…” asking for cure that leaves no disease. The dua recognizes Allah as the Lord of all people and the only true Healer, while asking for a complete cure that removes harm fully. It was part of his practice when visiting ill family members and companions
It offers a balanced approach: affirming that illness is real and painful, yet always within Allah’s control, helping patients and visitors find words that are neither dismissive nor despairing
Recite when ill, when visiting or praying for someone who is sick, or when asking Allah for complete healing.
The hadith establishes this wording as a Prophetic supplication for healing. No fixed count is mentioned in this particular wording.
