Gold vs Silver Threshold Comparison

Silver Standard
Gold Standard

The silver threshold is usually lower, so it is often considered the more cautious standard and benefits more people in need.

What is Nisab?

Minimum Zakat threshold

Nisab is the minimum amount of wealth a Muslim must possess before Zakat becomes obligatory. If your net Zakatable wealth is below this amount, Zakat is not due.

One lunar year reminder

Reaching Nisab is one condition. In general, Zakat becomes due when this wealth has been held for one lunar year. For specific cases, consult a qualified scholar.

Gold vs silver

The gold and silver standards produce different thresholds today. Many people use the silver standard because it is lower and more cautious.
