Background & benefit
This brief plea is made by Prophet Ayyub after a long period of severe illness and loss; he mentions that adversity has touched him and praises Allah as the Most Merciful. The dua is remarkable for its delicacy: Ayyub does not complain in detail but simply acknowledges his suffering and then focuses on Allah’s mercy. It shows patience, trust, and refined adab in hardship.
Reciting it helps a believer express pain honestly while still honoring Allah, turning illness into a moment of intimate connection and hope.

Authenticity: Quranic
This is a Qur’anic supplication from al‑Anbiyā’ (21:83). Caution: It is important not to compare one’s own patience directly with Ayyub’s; his story is a model to inspire us, not a measure to despise ourselves or others
