Surah Al-MulkBegins here at 67:1
-
67:1
Tabaarakal laẓee bi-Yadihil MULK; wa-Huwa ʻalaa kulli shayʹiñ Q̣adeer:―
Blessed is He in whose hand is dominion, and He is over all things competent -
-
67:2
ʹAllaẓee khalaq̣al Mawta wal-Ḥayaata liyabluwakum ʹayyukum ʹaḥsanu ʻamalaa; wa-Huwal ʻAzeezul G̣afoor;―
[He] who created death and life to test you [as to] which of you is best in deed - and He is the Exalted in Might, the Forgiving -
-
67:3
ʹAllaẓee khalaq̣a sabʻa samaawaatiñ ṭibaaq̣aa: maa- taraa fee Khalq̣ir Raḥmaani miñ tafaawut. Farjiʻil baṣara hal taraa miñ fuṭoor?
[And] who created seven heavens in layers. You do not see in the creation of the Most Merciful any inconsistency. So return [your] vision [to the sky]; do you see any breaks?
-
67:4
S̤ummar jiʻil baṣara karratayni yañq̣alib ʹilaykal baṣaru khaasiʹañw wahuwa ḥaseer.
Then return [your] vision twice again. [Your] vision will return to you humbled while it is fatigued.
-
67:5
Wa-laq̣ad zayyannas samaaaʹad dunyaa bimaṣaabeeḥa wa-jaʻalnaahaa rujoomal lishshayaaṭeeni wa-ʹaʻtadnaa lahum ʻaẓaabas Saʻeer.
And We have certainly beautified the nearest heaven with lamps [i.e., stars] and have made [from] them what is thrown at the devils and have prepared for them the punishment of the Blaze.
-
67:6
Wa-lillaẓeena kafaroo bi-Rabbihim ʻAẓaabu Jahannam: wa-biʻsal maṣeer.
And for those who disbelieved in their Lord is the punishment of Hell, and wretched is the destination.
-
67:7
ʹIẓaaa ʹulq̣oo feehaa samiʻoo lahaa shaheeq̣añw wahiya tafoor,―
When they are thrown into it, they hear from it a [dreadful] inhaling while it boils up.
-
67:8
Takaadu tamayyazu minal g̣ayz̤̣: kullamaaa ʹulq̣iya feehaa fawjuñ saʹalahum khazanatuhaaa ʹalam yaʹtikum Naẓeer?
It almost bursts with rage. Every time a company is thrown into it, its keepers ask them, "Did there not come to you a warner?"
-
67:9
Q̣aaloo balaa q̣ad jaaaʹanaa Naẓeer; fakaẓẓabnaa waq̣ulnaa maa- nazzalal laahu miñ shayʹ: ʹin ʹañtum ʹillaa fee ḍalaaliñ kabeer!
They will say, "Yes, a warner had come to us, but we denied and said, 'Allāh has not sent down anything. You are not but in great error.'"
-
67:10
Wa-q̣aaloo law kunnaa nasmaʻu ʹaw naʻq̣ilu maa- kunnaa feee ʹAṣḥaabis Saʻeer!
And they will say, "If only we had been listening or reasoning, we would not be among the companions of the Blaze."
-
67:11
Faʻtarafoo biẓambihim: fasuḥq̣al liʹAṣḥaabis Saʻeer!
And they will admit their sin, so [it is] alienation for the companions of the Blaze.
-
67:12
ʹInnal laẓeena yakhshawna Rabbahum̃ bilg̣aybi lahum Mag̣firatuñw WaʹAjruñ kabeer.
Indeed, those who fear their Lord unseen will have forgiveness and great reward.
-
67:13
Wa-ʹasirroo q̣awlakum ʹawij haroo bih; ʹinnahoo ʻAleemum biẓaatiṣ ṣudoor.
And conceal your speech or publicize it; indeed, He is Knowing of that within the breasts.
-
67:14
ʹAlaa yaʻlamu man khalaq̣? Wa-Huwal Laṭeeful Khabeer.
Does He who created not know, while He is the Subtle, the Aware?
-
67:15
Huwal laẓee jaʻala lakumul ʹarḍa ẓaloolañ famshoo fee manaakibihaa wa-kuloo mir rizq̣ih: wa-ʹilayhin Nushoor.
It is He who made the earth tame for you - so walk among its slopes and eat of His provision - and to Him is the resurrection.
-
67:16
ʹA-ʹamiñtum mañ fis Samaaaʹi ʹañy yakhsifa bikumul ʹarḍa faʹiẓaa hiya tamoor?
Do you feel secure that He who is above would not cause the earth to swallow you and suddenly it would sway?
-
67:17
ʹAm ʹamiñtum mañ fis Samaaaʹi ʹañy yursila ʻalaykum ḥaaṣibaa? Fasataʻlamoona kayfa naẓeer.
Or do you feel secure that He who is above would not send against you a storm of stones? Then you would know how [severe] was My warning.
-
67:18
Wa-laq̣ad kaẓẓabal laẓeena miñ q̣ablihim fakayfa kaana nakeer?
And already had those before them denied, and how [terrible] was My reproach.
-
67:19
ʹAwalam yaraw ʹilaṭ ṭayri fawq̣ahum ṣaaaffaatiñw Wayaq̣biḍn? Maa- yum-siku-hunna ʹillar Raḥmaan: ʹinnahoo bikulli shayʹim Baṣeer.
Do they not see the birds above them with wings outspread and [sometimes] folded in? None holds them [aloft] except the Most Merciful. Indeed He is, of all things, Seeing.
-
67:20
ʹAmman haaẓal laẓee huwa juñdul lakum yañṣurukum miñ doonir Raḥmaan? ʹInil kaafiroona ʹillaa fee g̣uroor.
Or who is it that could be an army for you to aid you other than the Most Merciful? The disbelievers are not but in delusion.
-
67:21
ʹAmman haaẓal laẓee yarzuq̣ukum ʹin ʹamsaka Rizq̣ah? Bal lajjoo fee ʻutuwwiñw Wanufoor.
Or who is it that could provide for you if He withheld His provision? But they have persisted in insolence and aversion.
-
67:22
ʹAfamañy yamshee mukibban ʻalaa wajhiheee ʹahdaaa ʹammañy yamshee sawiyyan ʻalaa Ṣiraaṭim Mustaq̣eem.
Then is one who walks fallen on his face better guided or one who walks erect on a straight path?
-
67:23
Q̣ul Huwal laẓeee ʹañshaʹakum wa-jaʻala lakumus samʻa wal-ʹabṣaara wal-ʹafʹidah: q̣aleelam maa tashkuroon.
Say, "It is He who has produced you and made for you hearing and vision and hearts [i.e., intellect]; little are you grateful."
-
67:24
Q̣ul Huwal laẓee ẓaraʹakum fil ʹarḍi wa-ʹilayhi tuḥsharoon.
Say, "It is He who has multiplied you throughout the earth, and to Him you will be gathered."
-
67:25
Wa-yaq̣ooloona mataa haaẓal waʻdu ʹiñ kuñtum ṣaadiq̣een.
And they say, "When is this promise, if you should be truthful?"
-
67:26
Q̣ul ʹinnamal ʻilmu ʻiñdal laah: wa-ʹinnamaaa ʹana Naẓeerum mubeen.
Say, "The knowledge is only with Allāh, and I am only a clear warner."
-
67:27
Falammaa raʹawhu zulfatañ seeeʹat wujoohul laẓeena kafaroo wa-q̣eela haaẓal laẓee kuñtum̃ bihee taddaʻoon!
But when they see it approaching, the faces of those who disbelieve will be distressed, and it will be said, "This is that for which you used to call."
-
67:28
Q̣ul ʹaraʹaytum ʹin ʹahlakaniyal laahu wa-mam maʻiya ʹaw raḥimanaa famañy yujeerul kaafireena min ʻAẓaabin ʹaleem.
Say, [O Muḥammad], "Have you considered: whether Allāh should cause my death and those with me or have mercy upon us, who can protect the disbelievers from a painful punishment?"
-
67:29
Q̣ul Huwar Raḥmaanu ʹaamannaa bihee wa-ʻalayhi tawakkalnaa: fasataʻlamoona man huwa fee ḍalaalim mubeen.
Say, "He is the Most Merciful; we have believed in Him, and upon Him we have relied. And you will [come to] know who it is that is in clear error."
-
67:30
Q̣ul ʹaraʹaytum ʹin ʹaṣbaḥa maaaʹukum g̣awrañ famañy yaʹteekum̃ bimaaaʹim maʻeen?
Say, "Have you considered: if your water was to become sunken [into the earth], then who could bring you flowing water?"
Surah Al-QalamBegins here at 68:1
-
68:1
NOOON. WALQ̣ALAMI wa-maa yasṭuroon,―

-
68:2
Maaa ʹañta biniʻmati Rabbika bimajnoon.

-
68:3

Wa-ʹinna laka laʹAjran g̣ayra mamnoon:
And indeed, for you is a reward uninterrupted.
-
68:4

ʹInna Rabbaka Huwa ʹaʻlamu bimañ ḍalla ʻañ Sabeelih: wa-Huwa ʹAʻlamu bil-Muhtadeen.
Indeed, your Lord is most knowing of who has gone astray from His way, and He is most knowing of the [rightly] guided.
-

Then do not obey the deniers.
-

Waddoo law tudhinu fayudhinoon.

-
68:10

Sanasimuhoo ʻalal khurṭoom!
We will brand him upon the snout.
-
68:17
ʹInnaa balawnaahum kamaa balawnaaa ʹAṣḥaabal Jannah, ʹiẓ ʹaq̣samoo layaṣrimunnahaa muṣbiḥeen,
Indeed, We have tried them as We tried the companions of the garden, when they swore to cut its fruit in the [early] morning
-
68:18
Wa-laa yastas̤noon.
Without making exception.

Faʹaṣbaḥat kaṣṣareem.
And it became as though reaped.

-
68:32
ʻAsaa Rabbunaaa ʹañy yubdilanaa khayram minhaaa ʹinnaaa ʹilaa Rabbinaa raag̣iboon!
Perhaps our Lord will substitute for us [one] better than it. Indeed, we are toward our Lord desirous."
-
68:33
Kaẓaalikal ʻAẓaab; wa-laʻAẓaabul ʹAakhirati ʹakbar. Law kaanoo yaʻlamoon!
Such is the punishment [of this world]. And the punishment of the Hereafter is greater, if they only knew.
-
68:34
ʹInna lil-Muttaq̣eena ʻiñda Rabbihim Jannatin Naʻeem.
Indeed, for the righteous with their Lord are the Gardens of Pleasure.

68:35
ʹAfanajʻalul Muslimeena kalmujrimeen?
Then will We treat the Muslims like the criminals?
-
68:36
Maa- lakum? kayfa taḥkumoon?
What is [the matter] with you? How do you judge?
-
68:37
ʹAm lakum Kitaabuñ feehi tadrusoon―
Or do you have a scripture in which you learn
-
68:38
ʹInna lakum feehi lamaa takhayyaroon?
That indeed for you is whatever you choose?
-
68:39
ʹAm lakum ʹAymaanun ʻalaynaa baalig̣atun ʹilaa Yawmil Q̣iyaamati ʹinna lakum lamaa taḥkumoon?
Or do you have oaths [binding] upon Us, extending until the Day of Resurrection, that indeed for you is whatever you judge?
-
68:40
Salhum ʹayyuhum̃ biẓaalika zaʻeem!
Ask them which of them, for that [claim], is responsible.
-
68:41
ʹAm lahum shurakaaaʹu fal-yaʹtoo bishurakaaaʹihim ʹiñ kaanoo ṣaadiq̣een!
Or do they have partners? Then let them bring their partners, if they should be truthful.
-
68:42
Yawma yukshafu ʻañ saaq̣iñw wayudʻawna ʹilas sujoodi falaa yastaṭeeʻoon,―
The Day the shin will be uncovered and they are invited to prostration but they [i.e., the disbelievers] will not be able,
-
68:43
Khaashiʻatan ʹabṣaaruhum tarhaq̣uhum ẓillah: wa-q̣ad kaanoo yudʻawna ʹilas sujoodi wa-hum saalimoon.
Their eyes humbled, humiliation will cover them. And they used to be invited to prostration while they were sound.
-
68:44
Faẓarnee wa-mañy yukaẓẓibu bihaaẓal Ḥadees̤: sanastadrijuhum min ḥays̤u laa- yaʻlamoon.
So leave Me, [O Muḥammad], with [the matter of] whoever denies this statement [i.e., the Qur’ān]. We will progressively lead them [to punishment] from where they do not know.
-
68:45
Wa-ʹumlee lahum: ʹinna kaydee mateen.
And I will give them time. Indeed, My plan is firm.
-
68:46
ʹAm tasʹaluhum ʹajrañ fahum mim mag̣ramim mus̤q̣aloon?
Or do you ask of them a payment, so they are by debt burdened down?
-
68:47
ʹAm ʻiñdahumul G̣aybu fahum yaktuboon?
Or have they [knowledge of] the unseen, so they write [it] down?
-
68:48
Faṣbir li-Ḥukmi Rabbika wa-laa takuñ ka-Ṣaaḥibil Ḥoot. ʹIẓ naadaa wa-huwa makz̤̣oom.
Then be patient for the decision of your Lord, [O Muḥammad], and be not like the companion of the fish [i.e., Jonah] when he called out while he was distressed.
-
68:49
Law-laaa ʹañ tadaarakahoo Niʻmatum mir Rabbihee lanubiẓa bilʻaraaaʹi wa-huwa maẓmoom.
If not that a favor [i.e., mercy] from his Lord overtook him, he would have been thrown onto the naked shore while he was censured.
-
68:50
Fajtabaahu Rabbuhoo fajaʻalahoo minaṣ Ṣaaliḥeen.
And his Lord chose him and made him of the righteous.
-
68:51
Wa-ʹiñy yakaadul laẓeena kafaroo layuzliq̣oonaka biʹabṣaarihim lammaa samiʻuẓ Ẓikra wa-yaq̣ooloona ʹinnahoo lamajnoon!
And indeed, those who disbelieve would almost make you slip with their eyes [i.e., looks] when they hear the message, and they say, "Indeed, he is mad."
-
68:52
Wa-maa huwa ʹillaa Ẓikrul lilʻAalameen.
But it is not except a reminder to the worlds.
Surah Al-HaqqahBegins here at 69:1
-
69:1
ʹALḤAAAQ̣Q̣ATU!
The Inevitable Reality -
-
69:2
Mal Ḥaaaq̣q̣ah?
What is the Inevitable Reality?
-
69:3
Wa-maaa ʹadraaka mal Ḥaaaq̣q̣ah?
And what can make you know what is the Inevitable Reality?
-
69:4
Kaẓẓabat S̤amoodu wa-ʻAadum bil-Q̣aariʻah!
Thamūd and ʿAad denied the Striking Calamity [i.e., the Resurrection].
-
69:5
Faʹammaa S̤amoodu faʹuhlikoo biṭ-Ṭaag̣iyah!
So as for Thamūd, they were destroyed by the overpowering [blast].
-
69:6
Wa-ʹammaa ʻAaduñ faʹuhlikoo bi-Reeḥiñ ṣarṣarin ʻaatiyah;
And as for ʿAad, they were destroyed by a screaming, violent wind
-
69:7
Sakhkharahaa ʻalayhim sabʻa layaaliñw was̤amaaniyata ʹayyaamin ḥusoomañ fataral q̣awma feehaa ṣarʻaa kaʹannahum ʹaʻjaazu nakhlin khaawiyah!
Which He [i.e., Allāh] imposed upon them for seven nights and eight days in succession, so you would see the people therein fallen as if they were hollow trunks of palm trees.
-
69:8
Fahal taraa lahum mim baaq̣iyah?
Then do you see of them any remains?
-
69:9
Wa-jaaaʹa Firʻawnu wa-mañ q̣ablahoo wal-muʹtafikaatu bil-khaaṭiʹah,
And there came Pharaoh and those before him and the overturned cities with sin.
-
69:10
Faʻaṣaw rasoola Rabbihim faʹakhaẓahum ʹakhẓatar raabiyah.
And they disobeyed the messenger of their Lord, so He seized them with a seizure exceeding [in severity].
-
69:11
ʹInnaa lammaa ṭag̣al maaaʹu ḥamalnaakum fil jaariyah.
Indeed, when the water overflowed, We carried you [i.e., your ancestors] in the sailing ship
-
69:12
Linajʻalahaa lakum Taẓkiratañwwa taʻiyahaaa ʹuẓunuñw waaʻiyah.
That We might make it for you a reminder and [that] a conscious ear would be conscious of it.
-
69:13
Faʹiẓaa nufikha fiṣ Ṣoori nafkhatuñw waaḥidah,
Then when the Horn is blown with one blast
-
69:14
Wa-ḥumilatil ʹarḍu wal-jibaalu fadukkataa dakkatañw waaḥidah,―
And the earth and the mountains are lifted and leveled with one blow [i.e., stroke] -
-
69:15
Fayawmaʹiẓiñw Waq̣aʻatil Waaq̣iʻah,
Then on that Day, the Occurrence [i.e., Resurrection] will occur,
-
69:16
Wañshaq̣q̣atis samaaaʹu fahiya Yawmaʹiẓiñw waahiyah,
And the heaven will split [open], for that Day it is infirm.
-
69:17
Wal-malaku ʻalaaa ʹarjaaaʹihaa, wa-yaḥmilu ʻArsha Rabbika fawq̣ahum Yawmaʹiẓiñ s̤amaaniyah.
And the angels are at its edges. And there will bear the Throne of your Lord above them, that Day, eight [of them].
-
69:18
Yawmaʹiẓiñ tuʻraḍoona laa- takhfaa miñ-kum khaafiyah.
That Day, you will be exhibited [for judgement]; not hidden among you is anything concealed.
-
69:19
Faʹammaa man ʹootiya Kitaabahoo biyameenihee fayaq̣oolu haaaʹumuq̣ raʹoo Kitaabiyah!
So as for he who is given his record in his right hand, he will say, "Here, read my record!
-
69:20
ʹInnee z̤̣anañtu ʹannee mulaaq̣in Ḥisaabiyah!
Indeed, I was certain that I would be meeting my account."
-
69:21
Fahuwa fee ʻeeshatir raaḍiyah,
So he will be in a pleasant life -
-
69:22
Fee Jannatin ʻaaliyah,
In an elevated garden,
-
69:23
Q̣utoofuhaa daaniyah.
Its [fruit] to be picked hanging near.
-
69:24
Kuloo washraboo haneeeʹam bimaaa ʹaslaftum fil ʹayyaamil khaaliyah!
[They will be told], "Eat and drink in satisfaction for what you put forth in the days past."
-
69:25
Wa-ʹammaa man ʹootiya Kitaabahoo bishimaalihee fayaq̣oolu yaalaytanee lam ʹoota Kitaabiyah!
But as for he who is given his record in his left hand, he will say, "Oh, I wish I had not been given my record
-
69:26
Wa-lam ʹadri maa- ḥisaabiyah!
And had not known what is my account.
-
69:27
Yaa-laytahaa kaanatil q̣aaḍiyah!
I wish it [i.e., my death] had been the decisive one.
-
69:28
Maaa ʹag̣naa ʻannee maaliyah!
My wealth has not availed me.
-
69:29
Halaka ʻannee sulṭaaniyah!
Gone from me is my authority."
-
69:30
Khuẓoohu fag̣ullooh,
[Allāh will say], "Seize him and shackle him.
-
69:31
S̤ummal Jaḥeema ṣallooh,
Then into Hellfire drive him.
-
69:32
S̤umma fee silsilatiñ ẓarʻuhaa sabʻoona ẓiraaʻañ faslukooh!
Then into a chain whose length is seventy cubits insert him."
-
69:33
ʹInnahoo kaana laa- yuʹminu billaahil ʻAz̤̣eem,
Indeed, he did not used to believe in Allāh, the Most Great,
-
69:34
Wa-laa yaḥuḍḍu ʻalaa ṭaʻaamil miskeen!
Nor did he encourage the feeding of the poor.
-
69:35
Falaysa lahul Yawma haahunaa ḥameem,
So there is not for him here this Day any devoted friend
-
69:36
Wa-laa ṭaʻaamun ʹillaa min g̣isleen,
Nor any food except from the discharge of wounds;
-
69:37
Laa- yaʹkuluhooo ʹillal khaaṭiʹoon.
None will eat it except the sinners.
-
69:38
Falaaa ʹuq̣simu bimaa tubṣiroon
So I swear by what you see
-
69:39
Wamaa laa- tubṣiroon,―
And what you do not see
-
69:40
ʹInnahoo laq̣awlu Rasooliñ Kareem;
[That] indeed, it [i.e., the Qur’ān] is the word of a noble Messenger.
-
69:41
Wa-maa huwa biq̣awli shaaʻir: q̣aleelam maa tuʹminoon!
And it is not the word of a poet; little do you believe.
-
69:42
Wa-laa biq̣awli kaahin: q̣aleelam maa taẓakkaroon.
Nor the word of a soothsayer; little do you remember.
-
69:43
Tañzeelum mir Rabbil ʻAalameen.
[It is] a revelation from the Lord of the worlds.
-
69:44
Wa-law taq̣awwala ʻalaynaa baʻḍal ʹaq̣aaweel,
And if he [i.e., Muḥammad] had made up about Us some [false] sayings,
-
69:45
Laʹakhaẓnaa minhu bilyameen,
We would have seized him by the right hand;
-
69:46
S̤umma laq̣aṭaʻnaa minhul wateen:
Then We would have cut from him the aorta.
-
69:47
Famaa miñkum min ʹaḥadin ʻanhu ḥaajizeen.
And there is no one of you who could prevent [Us] from him.
-
69:48
Wa-ʹinnahoo la-Taẓkiratul lil-Muttaq̣een.
And indeed, it [i.e., the Qur’ān] is a reminder for the righteous.
-
69:49
Wa-ʹinnaa lanaʻlamu ʹanna miñkum mukaẓẓibeen.
And indeed, We know that among you are deniers.
-
69:50
Wa-ʹinnahoo laḥasratun ʻalal kaafireen.
And indeed, it will be [a cause of] regret upon the disbelievers.
-
69:51
Wa-ʹinnahoo la-Ḥaq̣q̣ul yaq̣een.
And indeed, it is the truth of certainty.
-
69:52
Fasabbiḥ bismi Rabbikal ʻAz̤̣eem.
So exalt the name of your Lord, the Most Great.

Famaa lil-laẓeena kafaroo q̣ibalaka muhṭiʻeen―
So what is [the matter] with those who disbelieve, hastening [from] before you, [O Muḥammad],
-
70:37
ʻAnil yameeni wa-ʻanish shimaali ʻizeen?
[To sit] on [your] right and [your] left in separate groups?

Khaashiʻatan ʹabṣaaruhum tarhaq̣uhum ẓillah! Ẓaalikal Yawmul laẓee kaanoo yooʻadoon!
Their eyes humbled, humiliation will cover them. That is the Day which they had been promised.

72:2

And that our foolish one [i.e., Iblees] has been saying about Allāh an excessive transgression.
-
72:5

And we had thought that mankind and the jinn would never speak about Allāh a lie.
-
72:6
Wa-ʹannahoo kaana rijaalum minal ʹiñsi yaʻooẓoona birijaalim minal Jinni fazaadoohum rahaq̣aa.
And there were men from mankind who sought refuge in men from the jinn, so they [only] increased them in burden [i.e., sin].

Waʹannaa laa- nadreee ʹasharrun ʹureeda bimañ fil ʹarḍi ʹam ʹaraada bihim Rabbuhum rashadaa.
And we do not know [therefore] whether evil is intended for those on earth or whether their Lord intends for them a right course.
-
72:11

And we have become certain that we will never cause failure to Allāh upon earth, nor can we escape Him by flight.
-
72:13
Wa-ʹannaa lammaa samiʻnal Hudaaa ʹaamannaa bih. Famañy yuʹmim bi-Rabbihee falaa yakhaafu bakhsañw walaa rahaq̣aa.

Wa-ʹannaa minnal Muslimoona wa-minnal Q̣aasiṭoon. Faman ʹaslama faʹulaaaʹika taḥarraw rashadaa.
And among us are Muslims [in submission to Allāh], and among us are the unjust. And whoever has become Muslim - those have sought out the right course.
-
72:15
Wa-ʹammal Q̣aasiṭoona fakaanoo li-Jahannama ḥaṭabaa―

-
72:16
Wa-ʹalla-wis taq̣aamoo ʻalaṭ Ṭareeq̣ati laʹasq̣aynaahum maaaʹan g̣adaq̣aa.
And [Allāh revealed] that if they had remained straight on the way, We would have given them abundant rain [i.e., provision]
-
72:17

Q̣ul ʹinnee lañy yujeeranee minal laahi ʹaḥad, wa-lan ʹajida miñ doonihee multaḥadaa,
Say, "Indeed, there will never protect me from Allāh anyone [if I should disobey], nor will I find in other than Him a refuge.
-
72:23
ʹIllaa balaag̣am minal laahi wa-Risaalaatih: wa-mañy yaʻṣil laaha wa-Rasoolahoo faʹinna lahoo Naara Jahannama khaalideena feehaaa ʹabadaa.
But [I have for you] only notification from Allāh, and His messages." And whoever disobeys Allāh and His Messenger - then indeed, for him is the fire of Hell; they will abide therein forever.
-
72:24
Ḥattaaa ʹiẓaa raʹaw maa- yooʻadoona fasayaʻlamoona man ʹaḍʻafu naaṣirañw waʹaq̣allu ʻadadaa.
[The disbelievers continue] until, when they see that which they are promised, then they will know who is weaker in helpers and less in number.
-
72:25
Q̣ul ʹin ʹadreee ʹa-q̣areebum maa tooʻadoona ʹam yajʻalu lahoo Rabbeee ʹamadaa.
Say, "I do not know if what you are promised is near or if my Lord will grant for it a [long] period."
-
72:26
ʻAalimul G̣aybi falaa yuz̤̣hiru ʻalaa G̣aybiheee ʹaḥadaa,
[He is] Knower of the unseen, and He does not disclose His [knowledge of the] unseen to anyone
-
72:27
ʹIllaa manir taḍaa mir rasooliñ faʹinnahoo yasluku mim bayni yadayhi wa-min khalfihee raṣadaa,
Except whom He has approved of messengers, and indeed, He sends before him [i.e., each messenger] and behind him observers
-
72:28
Liyaʻlama ʹañ q̣ad ʹablag̣oo Risaalaati Rabbihim wa-ʹaḥaaṭa bimaa ladayhim wa-ʹaḥṣaa kulla shayʹin ʻadadaa.
That he [i.e., Muḥammad (ﷺ)] may know that they have conveyed the messages of their Lord; and He has encompassed whatever is with them and has enumerated all things in number.

73:1
Yaaaʹayyuhal MUZZAMMIL!
O you who wraps himself [in clothing],
-

Q̣umil layla ʹillaa q̣aleelaa,―
Arise [to pray] the night, except for a little -
-
73:3
Niṣfahooo ʹawiñ Q̣uṣ minhu q̣aleelaa,
Half of it - or subtract from it a little
-
73:4
ʹAw zid ʻalayhi wa-rattilil Q̣urʹaana tarteelaa.
Or add to it, and recite the Qur’ān with measured recitation.
-
73:5
ʹInnaa sanulq̣ee ʻalayka Q̣awlañ s̤aq̣eelaa.
Indeed, We will cast upon you a heavy word.
-
73:6
ʹInna naashiʹatal layli hiya ʹashaddu waṭ-ʹañw waʹaq̣wamu Q̣eelaa.
Indeed, the hours of the night are more effective for concurrence [of heart and tongue] and more suitable for words.
-
73:7
ʹInna laka fin nahaari sabḥañ ṭaweelaa.
Indeed, for you by day is prolonged occupation.
-
73:8
Waẓkuris ma Rabbika wa-tabattal ʹilayhi tabteelaa.
And remember the name of your Lord and devote yourself to Him with [complete] devotion.
-
73:9
Rabbul Mashriq̣i wal-Mag̣ribi Laaa ʹilaaha ʹillaa Huwa fattakhiẓhu Wakeelaa.
[He is] the Lord of the East and the West; there is no deity except Him, so take Him as Disposer of [your] affairs.
-
73:10
Waṣbir ʻalaa maa- yaq̣ooloona wahjurhum hajrañ jameelaa.
And be patient over what they say and avoid them with gracious avoidance.

And leave Me with [the matter of] the deniers, those of ease [in life], and allow them respite a little.
-
73:12
ʹInna ladaynaaa ʹañkaalañw Wa-Jaḥeemaa,

Wa-Ṭaʻaamañ ẓaa g̣uṣṣatiñw waʻAẓaaban ʹaleemaa.
And food that chokes and a painful punishment -
-
73:14
Yawma tarjuful ʹarḍu wal-Jibaalu wa-kaanatil jibaalu kas̤eebam maheelaa.
On the Day the earth and the mountains will convulse and the mountains will become a heap of sand pouring down.
-
73:15
ʹInnaaa ʹarsalnaaa ʹilaykum Rasoolañ shaahidan ʻalaykum kamaaa ʹarsalnaaa ʹilaa Firʻawna Rasoolaa.
Indeed, We have sent to you a Messenger as a witness upon you just as We sent to Pharaoh a messenger.
-
73:16
Faʻaṣaa Firʻawnur Rasoola faʹakhaẓnaahu ʹakhẓañw Wabeelaa.
But Pharaoh disobeyed the messenger, so We seized him with a ruinous seizure.

Fakayfa tattaq̣oona ʹiñ kafartum Yawmañy yajʻalul wildaana sheebaa―
Then how can you fear, if you disbelieve, a Day that will make the children white-haired?
-
73:18

The heaven will break apart therefrom; ever is His promise fulfilled.

ʹInna haaẓihee Taẓkirah: famañ shaaaʹat takhaẓa ʹilaa Rabbihee Sabeelaa!
Indeed, this is a reminder, so whoever wills may take to his Lord a way.

73:20
ʹInna Rabbaka yaʻlamu ʹannaka taq̣oomu ʹadnaa miñ s̤ulus̤ayil layli wa-niṣfahoo wa-s̤ulus̤ahoo wa-ṭaaaʹifatum minal laẓeena maʻak. Wal-laahu yuq̣addirul layla wannahaar. ʻAlima ʹal lañ tuḥṣoohu fataaba ʻalaykum faq̣raʹoo maa- tayassara minal Q̣urʹaan. ʻAlima ʹañ sayakoonu miñkum marḍaa wa-ʹaakharoona yaḍriboona fil ʹarḍi yabtag̣oona miñ Faḍlil laahi wa-ʹaakharoona yuq̣aatiloona fee Sabeelil laah. Wa-maa tuq̣addimoo liʹañfusikum min khayriñ tajidoohu ʻiñdal laahi huwa khyrañw waʹAʻz̤̣ama ʹAjraa. Wastag̣firul laah: ʹinnal laaha G̣afoorur Raḥeem.
Indeed, your Lord knows, [O Muḥammad], that you stand [in prayer] almost two thirds of the night or half of it or a third of it, and [so do] a group of those with you. And Allāh determines [the extent of] the night and the day. He has known that you [Muslims] will not be able to do it and has turned to you in forgiveness, so recite what is easy [for you] of the Qur’ān. He has known that there will be among you those who are ill and others traveling throughout the land seeking [something] of the bounty of Allāh and others fighting for the cause of Allāh. So recite what is easy from it and establish prayer and give zakāh and loan Allāh a goodly loan. And whatever good you put forward for yourselves - you will find it with Allāh. It is better and greater in reward. And seek forgiveness of Allāh. Indeed, Allāh is Forgiving and Merciful.

And We have not made the keepers of the Fire except angels. And We have not made their number except as a trial for those who disbelieve - that those who were given the Scripture will be convinced and those who have believed will increase in faith and those who were given the Scripture and the believers will not doubt and that those in whose hearts is disease [i.e., hypocrisy] and the disbelievers will say, "What does Allāh intend by this as an example?" Thus does Allāh send astray whom He wills and guide whom He wills. And none knows the soldiers of your Lord except Him. And it [i.e., mention of the Fire] is not but a reminder to humanity.

Wa-maa yaẓkuroona ʹillaaa ʹañy yashaaaʹal laah: Huwa ʹAhlut taq̣waa wa-ʹAhlul Mag̣firah.
