Understand the dua
Background & benefit
This dua is said upon waking. It praises Allah for restoring life after sleep and connects the ordinary act of waking up to the greater reality of resurrection. Every morning becomes a reminder that life is a gift returned by Allah and that the final return is to Him.
This dua helps the believer begin the day with gratitude, awareness of death and resurrection, and renewed purpose. It is especially meaningful because it transforms waking up from a routine physical event into remembrance of Allah, thankfulness, and preparation for the Hereafter.
Recite immediately upon waking from sleep.
The narration establishes this as a Prophetic waking remembrance. No separate fixed reward is mentioned in the cited report.

Reference: Sahih al-Bukhari 6312; Sahih al-Bukhari 6324
Authenticity: Sahih
This is a rigorously authentic morning remembrance that the Prophet ﷺ said whenever he woke up, and it is widely accepted for daily use. Caution: Do not restrict it only to Fajr time; the hadith indicates it is for any time a person wakes from sleep Some people add extra phrases that are not in the report; it is better to keep the core wording as in Bukhari.
