Dhikr
الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي أَحْيَانَا بَعْدَ مَا أَمَاتَنَا وَإِلَيْهِ النُّشُورُ

Transliteration

Al-ḥamdu lillāhi lladhī aḥyānā baʿda mā amatānā wa ilayhi n-nushūr.

Translation

“All praise is for Allah who gave us life after causing us to die (in sleep), and to Him is the resurrection.”

Background

This dua is said upon waking. It praises Allah for restoring life after sleep and connects the ordinary act of waking up to the greater reality of resurrection. Every morning becomes a reminder that life is a gift returned by Allah and that the final return is to Him.

This is a rigorously authentic morning remembrance that the Prophet ﷺ said whenever he woke up, and it is widely accepted for daily use. Caution: Do not restrict it only to Fajr time; the hadith indicates it is for any time a person wakes from sleep Some people add extra phrases that are not in the report; it is better to keep the core wording as in Bukhari.
