Source & authenticity

Source: Hadith/Dhikr

Reference: Sunan Abī Dāwūd 4020; Jāmiʿ al-Tirmidhī 1767

Authenticity: Hasan/Sahih

Tirmidhī grades this report ḥasan ṣaḥīḥ and it is widely quoted as the main prophetic dua when putting on a new garment. Caution: Avoid confusing this opening dua with the separate phrase “tublī wa yukhlifu llāhu taʿālā,” which is a congratulatory saying of the Companions to someone in new clothes rather than the Prophet’s own supplication.
