  1. Surah Adh-DhariyatBegins here at 51:31

  2. 51:31

    Q̣aala famaa khaṭbukum ʹayyuhal Mursaloon?

[Abraham] said, "Then what is your business [here], O messengers?"

  3. 51:32

    Q̣aalooo ʹinnaaa ʹursilnaaa ʹilaa q̣awmim mujrimeen;―

They said, "Indeed, we have been sent to a people of criminals

  4. 51:33

    Linursila ʻalayhim ḥijaaratam miñ ṭeen.

To send down upon them stones of clay,

  5. 51:34

    Musawwamatan ʻiñda Rabbika lilmusrifeen.

Marked in the presence of your Lord for the transgressors."

  6. 51:35

Faʹakhrajnaa mañ kaana feehaa minal Muʹmineen.

So We brought out whoever was in them [i.e., the cities] of the believers.

  7. 51:36

Famaa wa-jadnaa feeha g̣ayra baytim minal Muslimeen:

And We found not within them other than a [single] house of Muslims.

  8. 51:37

Wa-taraknaa feehaaa ʹAayatal lillaẓeena yakhaafoonal ʻAẓaabal ʹaleem.

And We left therein a sign for those who fear the painful punishment.

  9. 51:38

Wa-fee Moosaaa ʹiẓ ʹarsalnaahu ʹilaa Firʻawna bisulṭaanim mubeen.

And in Moses [was a sign], when We sent him to Pharaoh with clear authority.

  10. 51:39

Fatawallaa biruknihee wa-q̣aala ˹saaḥirun ʹaw majnoon!

But he turned away with his supporters and said, "A magician or a madman."

  11. 51:40

Faʹakhaẓnaahu wa-junoo-dahoo fanabaẓnaahum fil yammi wa-huwa muleem.

So We took him and his soldiers and cast them into the sea, and he was blameworthy.

  12. 51:41

Wa-fee ʻAadin ʹiẓ ʹarsalnaa ʻalayhimur Reeḥal ʻaq̣eem:

And in ʿAad [was a sign], when We sent against them the barren wind.

  13. 51:42

Maa- taẓaru miñ shayʹin ʹatat ʻalayhi ʹillaa jaʻalathu karrameem.

It left nothing of what it came upon but that it made it like disintegrated ruins.

  14. 51:43

Wa-fee S̤amooda ʹiẓ q̣eela lahum tamattaʻoo ḥattaa ḥeen!

And in Thamūd, when it was said to them, "Enjoy yourselves for a time."

  15. 51:44

Faʻataw ʻan ʹAmri Rabbihim faʹakhaẓathumuṣ ṣaaʻiq̣atu wa-hum yañz̤̣uroon.

But they were insolent toward the command of their Lord, so the thunderbolt seized them while they were looking on.

  16. 51:45

famas taṭaaʻoo miñ q̣iyaamiñw wamaa kaanoo muñtaṣireen.

And they were unable to arise, nor could they defend themselves.

  17. 51:46

    Wa-Q̣awma Nooḥim miñ q̣abl: ʹinnahum kaanoo q̣awmañ faasiq̣een.

And [We destroyed] the people of Noah before; indeed, they were a people defiantly disobedient.

  18. 51:47

    Was-Samaaaʹa banaynaahaa biʹaydiñw waʹInnaa lamoosiʻoon.

And the heaven We constructed with strength, and indeed, We are [its] expander.

  19. 51:48

    Wal-ʹarḍa farashnaahaa faniʻmal maahidoon!

And the earth We have spread out, and excellent is the preparer.

  20. 51:49

Wa-miñ kulli shayʹin khalaq̣naa zawjayni laʻallakum taẓakkaroon.

And of all things We created two mates [i.e., counterparts]; perhaps you will remember.

  21. 51:50

Fafirrooo ʹilal laah: ʹinnee lakum minhu Naẓeerum mubeen!

So flee to Allāh. Indeed, I am to you from Him a clear warner.

  22. 51:51

And do not make [as equal] with Allāh another deity. Indeed, I am to you from Him a clear warner.

  23. 51:52

Kaẓaalika maaa ʹatal laẓeena miñ q̣ablihim mir Rasoolin ʹillaa q̣aaloo saaḥirun ʹaw majnoon!

Similarly, there came not to those before them any messenger except that they said, "A magician or a madman."

  24. 51:53

ʹAtawaaṣaw bih? Bal hum q̣awmuñ ṭaag̣oon!

Did they suggest it to them? Rather, they [themselves] are a transgressing people.

  25. 51:54

    Fatawalla ʻanhum famaaa ʹañta bimaloom.

So leave them, [O Muḥammad], for you are not to be blamed.

  26. 51:55

    Wa-ẓakkir faʹinnaẓ Ẓikraa tañfaʻul Muʹmineen.

And remind, for indeed, the reminder benefits the believers.

  27. 51:56

    Wa-maa khalaq̣tul Jinna wal-ʹiñsa ʹillaa liyaʻbudoon.

And I did not create the jinn and mankind except to worship Me.

  28. 51:57

Maaa ʹureedu minhum mir Rizq̣iñw Wamaaa ʹureedu ʹañy yuṭʻimoon.

I do not want from them any provision, nor do I want them to feed Me.

  29. 51:58

ʹInnal laaha Huwar Razzaaq̣u Ẓul Q̣uwwatil Mateen.

Indeed, it is Allāh who is the [continual] Provider, the firm possessor of strength.

  30. 51:59

Faʹinna lillaẓeena z̤̣alamoo ẓanoobam mis̤la ẓanoobi ʹaṣḥaabihim falaa yastaʻjiloon!

And indeed, for those who have wronged is a portion [of punishment] like the portion of their companions [i.e., predecessors], so let them not impatiently urge Me.

  31. 51:60

Fawaylul lillaẓeena kafaroo miñy Yawmihimul laẓee yooʻadoon

And woe to those who have disbelieved from their Day which they are promised.

  32. Surah At-TurBegins here at 52:1

  33. 52:1

    وَٱلطُّورِ

    Wat-Ṭoor;

    By the mount

  34. 52:2

    Wa-Kitaabim masṭoor

    And [by] a Book inscribed

  35. 52:3

    فِى رَقٍّ مَّنشُورٍ

    Fee Raq̣q̣im mañshoor;

    In parchment spread open

  36. 52:4

    وَٱلْبَيْتِ ٱلْمَعْمُورِ

    Wal-Baytil maʻmoor;

    And [by] the frequented House

  37. 52:5

    وَٱلسَّقْفِ ٱلْمَرْفُوعِ

    Was-Saq̣fil marfooʻ;

And [by] the ceiling [i.e., heaven] raised high

  38. 52:6

    وَٱلْبَحْرِ ٱلْمَسْجُورِ

    Wal-Baḥril masjoor;

And [by] the sea set on fire,

  39. 52:7

    ʹInna ʻAẓaaba Rabbika lawaaq̣iʻ;―

Indeed, the punishment of your Lord will occur.

  40. 52:8

    Maa- lahoo miñ daafiʻ;―

Of it there is no preventer.

  41. 52:9

    Yawma tamoorus samaaaʹu mawraa,

On the Day the heaven will sway with circular motion

  42. 52:10

    Wa-taseerul jibaalu sayraa.

And the mountains will pass on, departing -

  43. 52:11

    Fawayluñy Yawmaʹiẓil lil-mukaẓẓibeen;―

Then woe, that Day, to the deniers,

  44. 52:12

    ʹAllaẓeena hum fee khawḍiñy yalʻaboon.

Who are in [empty] discourse amusing themselves.

  45. 52:13

Yawma yudaʻʻoona ʹilaa Naari Jahannama daʻ-ʻaa.

The Day they are thrust toward the fire of Hell with a [violent] thrust, [its angels will say],

  46. 52:14

Haaẓihin Naarul latee kuñtum̃ bihaa tukaẓẓiboon!

"This is the Fire which you used to deny.

  47. 52:15

ʹAfasiḥrun haaẓaaa ʹam ʹañtum laa- tubṣiroon?

Then is this magic, or do you not see?

  48. 52:16

ʹIṣlawhaa faṣbirooo ʹaw laa- taṣbiroo: sawaaaʹun ʻalaykum: ʹinnamaa tujzawna maa- kuñtum taʻmaloon.

[Enter to] burn therein; then be patient or impatient - it is all the same for you. You are only being recompensed [for] what you used to do."

  49. 52:17

    ʹInnal Muttaq̣eena Fee Jannaatiñw Wa-Naʻeem,―

Indeed, the righteous will be in gardens and pleasure,

  50. 52:18

Faakiheena bimaaa ʹaataahum rabbuhum wa-waq̣aahum Rabbuhum ʻAẓaabal Jaḥeem.

Enjoying what their Lord has given them, and their Lord protected them from the punishment of Hellfire.

  51. 52:19

Kuloo washraboo haneeeʹam bimaa kuñtum taʻmaloon.

[They will be told], "Eat and drink in satisfaction for what you used to do."

  52. 52:20

Muttakiʹeena ʻalaa sururim maṣfoofah: wa-zawwaj-naahum̃ biḥoorin ʻeen.

They will be reclining on thrones lined up, and We will marry them to fair women with large, [beautiful] eyes.

  53. 52:21

Wallaẓeena ʹaamanoo wattabaʻathum ẓurriyyatuhum̃ biʹeemaanin ʹalḥaq̣naa bihim ẓurriyyatahum wa-maaa ʹalatnaahum min ʻamalihim miñ shayʹ: kullum riʹim bimaa kasaba raheen.

And those who believed and whose descendants followed them in faith - We will join with them their descendants, and We will not deprive them of anything of their deeds. Every person, for what he earned, is retained.

  54. 52:22

    Wa-ʹamdadnaahum̃ bifaakihatiñw walaḥmim mimmaa- yashtahoon.

And We will provide them with fruit and meat from whatever they desire.

  55. 52:23

They will exchange with one another a cup [of wine] wherein [results] no ill speech or commission of sin.

  56. 52:24

Wa-yaṭoofu ʻalayhim g̣ilmaanul lahum kaʹannahum Luʹluʹum maknoon.

There will circulate among them [servant] boys [especially] for them, as if they were pearls well-protected.

  57. 52:25

    Wa-ʹaq̣bala baʻḍuhum ʻalaa baʻḍiñy yatasaaaʹaloon.

And they will approach one another, inquiring of each other.

  58. 52:26

    Q̣aalooo ʹinnaa kunnaa q̣ablu feee ʹahlinaa mushfiq̣een.

They will say, "Indeed, we were previously among our people fearful [of displeasing Allāh].

  59. 52:27

Famannal laahu ʻalaynaa wa-waq̣aanaa ʻAẓaabas Samoom.

So Allāh conferred favor upon us and protected us from the punishment of the Scorching Fire.

  60. 52:28

ʹInnaa kunnaa miñ q̣ablu nadʻooh: ʹinnahoo Huwal Barrur Raḥeem!

Indeed, we used to supplicate Him before. Indeed, it is He who is the Beneficent, the Merciful."

  61. 52:29

Faẓakkir famaaa ʹañta bi-Niʻmati Rabbika bikaahiniñw walaa majnoon.

So remind, [O Muḥammad], for you are not, by the favor of your Lord, a soothsayer or a madman.

  62. 52:30

ʹAm yaq̣ooloona Shaaʻirun natarabbaṣu bihee raybal manoon!

Or do they say [of you], "A poet for whom we await a misfortune of time"?

  63. 52:31

Q̣ul tarabbaṣoo faʹinnee maʻakum minal mutarabbiṣeen!

Say, "Wait, for indeed I am, with you, among the waiters."

  64. 52:32

ʹAm taʹmuruhum ʹaḥlaamuhum̃ bihaaẓaaa ʹam hum q̣awmuñ ṭaag̣oon?

Or do their minds command them to [say] this, or are they a transgressing people?

  65. 52:33

ʹAm yaq̣ooloona taq̣awwalah? Bal laa yuʹminoon!

Or do they say, "He has made it up"? Rather, they do not believe.

  66. 52:34

    Falyaʹtoo biḥadees̤im mis̤liheee ʹiñ kaanoo Ṣaadiq̣een!

Then let them produce a statement like it, if they should be truthful.

  67. 52:35

ʹAm khuliq̣oo min g̣ayri shayʹin ʹam humul khaaliq̣oon?

Or were they created by nothing, or were they the creators [of themselves]?

  68. 52:36

    ʹAm khalaq̣us samaawaati wal-ʹarḍ? Bal laa yooq̣inoon.

Or did they create the heavens and the earth? Rather, they are not certain.

  69. 52:37

ʹAm ʻiñdahum khazaaaʹinu Rabbika ʹam humul musayṭiroon?

Or have they the depositories [containing the provision] of your Lord? Or are they the controllers [of them]?

  70. 52:38

ʹAm lahum sullamuñy yastamiʻoona feeh? falyaʹti mustamiʻuhum̃ bisulṭaanim mubeen.

Or have they a stairway [into the heaven] upon which they listen? Then let their listener produce a clear authority [i.e., proof].

  71. 52:39

    ʹAm lahul banaatu wa-lakumul banoon?

Or has He daughters while you have sons?

  72. 52:40

ʹAm tasʹaluhum ʹajrañ fahum mim mag̣ramim mus̤q̣aloon?

Or do you, [O Muḥammad], ask of them a payment, so they are by debt burdened down?

  73. 52:41

    ʹAm ʻiñdahumul G̣aybu fahum yaktuboon?

Or have they [knowledge of] the unseen, so they write [it] down?

  74. 52:42

ʹAm yureedoona kaydaa? Fallaẓeena kafaroo humul makeedoon!

Or do they intend a plan? But those who disbelieve - they are the object of a plan.

  75. 52:43

ʹAm lahum ʹilaahun g̣ayrul laah? Subḥaanal laahi ʻammaa yushrikoon!

Or have they a deity other than Allāh? Exalted is Allāh above whatever they associate with Him.

  76. 52:44

Wa-ʹiñy yaraw kisfam minas samaaaʹi saaq̣iṭañy yaq̣ooloo saḥaabum markoom!

And if they were to see a fragment from the sky falling, they would say, "[It is merely] clouds heaped up."

  77. 52:45

Faẓarhum ḥattaa yulaaq̣oo Yawmahumul laẓee feehi yuṣʻaq̣oon,―

So leave them until they meet their Day in which they will be struck insensible -

  78. 52:46

Yawma laa- yug̣nee ʻanhum kayduhum shayʹañw walaa hum yuñṣaroon.

The Day their plan will not avail them at all, nor will they be helped.

  79. 52:47

Wa-ʹinna lillaẓeena z̤̣alamoo ʻaẓaabañ doona ẓaalika wa-laakinna ʹaks̤arahum laa- yaʻlamoon.

And indeed, for those who have wronged is a punishment before that, but most of them do not know.

  80. 52:48

Waṣbir liḥukmi Rabbika faʹinnaka biʹaʻyuninaa wa-sabbiḥ bi-Ḥamdi Rabbika ḥeena taq̣oom,

And be patient, [O Muḥammad], for the decision of your Lord, for indeed, you are in Our eyes [i.e., sight]. And exalt [Allāh] with praise of your Lord when you arise

  81. 52:49

    Wa-minal layli fasabbiḥhu wa-ʹidbaaran nujoom!

And in a part of the night exalt Him and after [the setting of] the stars.

  82. Surah An-NajmBegins here at 53:1

  83. 53:1

    Wan-NAJMI ʹiẓaa hawaa,―

By the star when it descends,

  84. 53:2

    Maa- ḍalla Ṣaaḥibukum wa-maa g̣awaa,

Your companion [i.e., Muḥammad] has not strayed, nor has he erred,

  85. 53:3

    Wa-maa yañṭiq̣u ʻanil hawaa.

Nor does he speak from [his own] inclination.

  86. 53:4

    ʹIn huwa ʹillaa Waḥyuñy yooḥaa:

It is not but a revelation revealed,

  87. 53:5

    ʻAllamahoo Shadeedul Q̣uwaa,―

Taught to him by one intense in strength [i.e., Gabriel] -

  88. 53:6

    Ẓoo Mirratiñ fastawaa,

One of soundness. And he rose to [his] true form

  89. 53:7

    Wa-huwa bil-ʹufuq̣il ʹaʻlaa:

While he was in the higher [part of the] horizon.

  90. 53:8

    S̤umma danaa fatadallaa,

    Then he approached and descended

  91. 53:9

    Fakaana Q̣aaba q̣awsayni ʹaw ʹadnaa.

And was at a distance of two bow lengths or nearer.

  92. 53:10

    Faʹawḥaaa ʹilaa ʻAbdihee maaa ʹawḥaa.

And he revealed to His Servant what he revealed [i.e., conveyed].

  93. 53:11

    Maa- kaẓabal fuʹaadu maa- raʹaa.

The heart did not lie [about] what it saw.

  94. 53:12

    ʹAfatumaaroonahoo ʹalaa maa- yaraa?

So will you dispute with him over what he saw?

  95. 53:13

    Wa-laq̣ad raʹaahu nazlatan ʹukhraa,

And he certainly saw him in another descent

  96. 53:14

    ʻIñda Sidratil muñtahaa:

At the Lote Tree of the Utmost Boundary -

  97. 53:15

    ʻIñdahaa Jannatul Maʹwaa.

Near it is the Garden of Refuge [i.e., Paradise] -

  98. 53:16

    ʹIẓ yag̣shas Sidrata maa- yag̣shaa!

When there covered the Lote Tree that which covered [it].

  99. 53:17

    Maa- zaag̣al baṣaru wa-maa ṭag̣aa!

The sight [of the Prophet (ﷺ)] did not swerve, nor did it transgress [its limit].

  100. 53:18

Laq̣ad raʹaa min ʹAayaati Rabbihil Kubraa!

He certainly saw of the greatest signs of his Lord.

  101. 53:19

    ʹAfaraʹaytumul Laata wal-ʻUzzaa,

So have you considered al-Lāt and al-ʿUzzā?

  102. 53:20

    Wa-Manaatas̤ s̤aalis̤atal ʹukhraa?

And Manāt, the third - the other one?

  103. 53:21

    ʹA-lakumuẓ ẓakaru wa-lahul ʹuñs̤aa?

Is the male for you and for Him the female?

  104. 53:22

    Tilka ʹiẓañ q̣ismatuñ ḍeezaa!

That, then, is an unjust division.

  105. 53:23

ʹIn hiya ʹillaaa ʹasmaaaʹuñ sammaytumoohaaa ʹañtum wa-ʹaabaaaʹukum maaa ʹañzalal laahu bihaa miñ sulṭaan. ʹIñy yattabiʻoona ʹillaz̤̣ z̤̣anna wa-maa tahwal ʹañfus!- Walaq̣ad jaaaʹahum mir Rabbihimul Hudaa!

They are not but [mere] names you have named them - you and your forefathers - for which Allāh has sent down no authority. They follow not except assumption and what [their] souls desire, and there has already come to them from their Lord guidance.

  106. 53:24

    ʹAm lil-ʹiñsaani maa- tamannaa?

Or is there for man whatever he wishes?

  107. 53:25

    Falillahil ʹAakhiratu wal-ʹoolaa.

Rather, to Allāh belongs the Hereafter and the first [life].

  108. 53:26

Wa-kam mim malakiñ fis samaawaati laa- tug̣nee shafaaʻatuhum shayʹan ʹillaa mim baʻdi ʹañy yaʹẓanal laahu limañy yashaaaʹu wa-yarḍaa.

And how many angels there are in the heavens whose intercession will not avail at all except [only] after Allāh has permitted [it] to whom He wills and approves.

  109. 53:27

ʹInnal laẓeena laa- yuʹminoona bil-ʹAakhirati layusammoonal malaaaʹikata tasmiyatal ʹuñs̤aa.

Indeed, those who do not believe in the Hereafter name the angels female names,

  110. 53:28

    Wa-maa lahum̃ bihee min ʻilm. ʹIñy yattabiʻoona ʹillaz̤̣ z̤̣ann: wa-ʹinnaz̤̣ z̤̣anna laa- yug̣nee minal Ḥaq̣q̣i shayʹaa.

And they have thereof no knowledge. They follow not except assumption, and indeed, assumption avails not against the truth at all.

  111. 53:29

Faʹaʻriḍ ʻam mañ tawallaa ʻañ ẓikrinaa wa-lam yurid ʹillal ḥayaatad dunyaa.

So turn away from whoever turns his back on Our message and desires not except the worldly life.

  112. 53:30

Ẓaalika mablag̣uhum minal ʻilm. ʹInna Rabbaka Huwa ʹaʻlamu bimañ ḍalla ʻañ sabeelihee wa-Huwa ʹaʻlamu bimanih tadaa.

That is their sum of knowledge. Indeed, your Lord is most knowing of who strays from His way, and He is most knowing of who is guided.

  113. 53:31

Walillaahi maa- fis samaawaati wa-maa fil ʹarḍi liyajziyal laẓeena ʹasaaaʹoo bimaa ʻamiloo wa-yajziyal laẓeena ʹaḥsanoo bilḥusnaa.

And to Allāh belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is in the earth - that He may recompense those who do evil with [the penalty of] what they have done and recompense those who do good with the best [reward] -

  114. 53:32

ʹAllaẓeena yajtaniboona kabaaaʹiral ʹis̤mi walfawaaḥisha ʹillal lamam,― ʹinna Rabbaka Waasiʻul Mag̣firah. Huwa ʹaʻlamu bikum ʹiz ʹañshaʹakum minal ʹarḍi wa-ʹiz ʹañtum ʹajinnatuñ fee buṭooni ʹummahaatikum. Falaa tuzakkooo ʹañfusakum: Huwa ʹaʻlamu bimanit taq̣aa.

Those who avoid the major sins and immoralities, only [committing] slight ones. Indeed, your Lord is vast in forgiveness. He was most knowing of you when He produced you from the earth and when you were fetuses in the wombs of your mothers. So do not claim yourselves to be pure; He is most knowing of who fears Him.

  115. 53:33

    ʹAfaraʹaytal laẓee tawallaa,

Have you seen the one who turned away

  116. 53:34

    Wa-ʹaʻṭaa q̣aleelañw waʹakdaa?

And gave a little and [then] refrained?

  117. 53:35

    ʹAʻiñdahoo ʻilmul g̣aybi fahuwa yaraa?

Does he have knowledge of the unseen, so he sees?

  118. 53:36

ʹAm lam yunabbaʹ bimaa fee Ṣuḥufi Moosaa.

Or has he not been informed of what was in the scriptures of Moses

  119. 53:37

    Wa-ʹIbraaheemal laẓee waffaa?―

And [of] Abraham, who fulfilled [his obligations] -

  120. 53:38

    أَلَّا تَزِرُ وَازِرَةٌ وِزْرَ أُخْرَىٰ

    ʹAllaa taziru waaziratuñw wizra ʹukhraa;

That no bearer of burdens will bear the burden of another

  121. 53:39

    وَأَن لَّيْسَ لِلْإِنسَـٰنِ إِلَّا مَا سَعَىٰ

    Wa-ʹal laysa lil-ʹiñsaani ʹillaa maa- saʻaa;

And that there is not for man except that [good] for which he strives

  122. 53:40

    وَأَنَّ سَعْيَهُۥ سَوْفَ يُرَىٰ

    Wa-ʹanna saʻyahoo sawfa yuraa;

And that his effort is going to be seen -

  123. 53:41

    ثُمَّ يُجْزَىٰهُ ٱلْجَزَآءَ ٱلْأَوْفَىٰ

    S̤umma yujzaahul jazaaa ʹal-ʹawfaa;

Then he will be recompensed for it with the fullest recompense -

  124. 53:42

    وَأَنَّ إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ ٱلْمُنتَهَىٰ

    Wa-ʹanna ʹilaa Rabbikal Muñtahaa;

And that to your Lord is the finality

  125. 53:43

    وَأَنَّهُۥ هُوَ أَضْحَكَ وَأَبْكَىٰ

    Wa-ʹannahoo Huwa ʹaḍḥaka wa-ʹabkaa;

And that it is He who makes [one] laugh and weep

  126. 53:44

    وَأَنَّهُۥ هُوَ أَمَاتَ وَأَحْيَا

    Wa-ʹannahoo Huwa ʹamaata wa-ʹaḥyaa;

And that it is He who causes death and gives life

  127. 53:45

    Wa-ʹannahoo khalaq̣az zawjayniẓ ẓakara wal-ʹuñs̤aa,

And that He creates the two mates - the male and female -

  128. 53:46

    مِن نُّطْفَةٍ إِذَا تُمْنَىٰ

    Min nuṭfatin ʹiẓaa tumnaa;

From a sperm-drop when it is emitted

  129. 53:47

    وَأَنَّ عَلَيْهِ ٱلنَّشْأَةَ ٱلْأُخْرَىٰ

    Wa-ʹanna ʻalayhin Nashʹatal ʹUkhraa;

And that [incumbent] upon Him is the other [i.e., next] creation.

  130. 53:48

    وَأَنَّهُۥ هُوَ أَغْنَىٰ وَأَقْنَىٰ

    Wa-ʹannahoo Huwa ʹag̣naa wa-ʹaq̣naa;

And that it is He who enriches and suffices

  131. 53:49

    وَأَنَّهُۥ هُوَ رَبُّ ٱلشِّعْرَىٰ

    Wa-ʹannahu Huwa Rabbush Shiʻraa;

And that it is He who is the Lord of Sirius

  132. 53:50

    Wa-ʹannahooo ʹahlaka ʻAadanil ʹOolaa,

And that He destroyed the first [people of] ʿAad

  133. 53:51

    Wa-S̤amooda famaaa ʹabq̣aa,

And Thamūd - and He did not spare [them] -

  134. 53:52

    وَقَوْمَ نُوحٍ مِّن قَبْلُ ۖ إِنَّهُمْ كَانُوا۟ هُمْ أَظْلَمَ وَأَطْغَىٰ

    Wa-q̣awma Nooḥim miñ q̣ablu ʹinnahum kaanoo hum ʹaz̤̣lama wa-ʹaṭg̣aa;

And the people of Noah before. Indeed, it was they who were [even] more unjust and oppressing.

  135. 53:53

    Wal-muʹtafikata ʹahwaa,

And the overturned towns He hurled down

  136. 53:54

    Fag̣ashshaahaa maa- g̣ashshaa.

And covered them by that which He covered.

  137. 53:55

    Fabiʹayyi ʹaalaaaʹi Rabbika tatamaaraa?

Then which of the favors of your Lord do you doubt?

  138. 53:56

    Haaẓaa Naẓeerum minan nuẓuril ʹoolaa!

This [Prophet (ﷺ)] is a warner from [i.e., like] the former warners.

  139. 53:57

    ʹAzifatil ʹAazifah:

    The Approaching Day has approached.

  140. 53:58

Laysa lahaa miñ doonil laahi kaashifah.

Of it, [from those] besides Allāh, there is no remover.

  141. 53:59

    ʹAfamin haaẓal ḥadees̤i taʻjaboon?

Then at this statement do you wonder?

  142. 53:60

    Wa-taḍḥakoona wa-laa tabkoon,―

And you laugh and do not weep

  143. 53:61

    Wa-ʹañtum saamidoon?

    While you are proudly sporting?

  144. 53:62

    Fasjudoo lillaahi waʻbudoo!

So prostrate to Allāh and worship [Him].

  145. Surah Al-QamarBegins here at 54:1

  146. 54:1

    ʹIq̣tarabatis Saaʻatu wañ-shaq̣q̣al Q̣AMAR.

The Hour has come near, and the moon has split [in two].

  147. 54:2

Wa-ʹiñy yaraw ʹaayatañy yuʻriḍoo wa-yaq̣ooloo siḥrum mustamirr.

And if they see a sign [i.e., miracle], they turn away and say, "Passing magic."

  148. 54:3

    Wa-kaẓẓaboo wattabaʻooo ʹahwaaaʹahum wa-kullu ʹamrim mustaq̣irr.

And they denied and followed their inclinations. But for every matter is a [time of] settlement.

  149. 54:4

Wa-laq̣ad jaaaʹahum minal ʹambaaaʹi maa- feehi muzdajar.

And there has already come to them of information that in which there is deterrence.

  150. 54:5

    Ḥikmatum baalig̣atuñ famaa tug̣nin Nuẓur.

Extensive wisdom - but warning does not avail [them].

  151. 54:6

Fatawalla ʻanhum. Yawma yadʻud Daaʻi ʹilaa shayʹin nukur,

So leave them, [O Muḥammad]. The Day the Caller calls to something forbidding,

  152. 54:7

Khushshaʻan ʹabṣaaruhum yakhrujoona minal ʹajdaas̤i kaʹannahum jaraadum muñtashir.

Their eyes humbled, they will emerge from the graves as if they were locusts spreading,

  153. 54:8

Muhṭiʻeena ʹilad Daaʻ! Yaq̣oolul kaafiroona ˹Haaẓaa Yawmun ʻasir.˺

Racing ahead toward the Caller. The disbelievers will say, "This is a difficult Day."

  154. 54:9

Kaẓẓabat q̣ablahum Q̣awmu Nooḥiñ fakaẓẓaboo ʻAbdanaa wa-q̣aaloo majnooñuw wazdujir.

The people of Noah denied before them, and they denied Our servant and said, "A madman," and he was repelled.

  155. 54:10

    Fadaʻaa Rabbahooo ʹannee mag̣loobuñ fañtaṣir!

So he invoked his Lord, "Indeed, I am overpowered, so help."

  156. 54:11

    Fafataḥnaaa ʹabwaabas samaaaʹi bimaaaʹim munhamir.

Then We opened the gates of the heaven with rain pouring down

  157. 54:12

And caused the earth to burst with springs, and the waters met for a matter already predestined.

  158. 54:13

    Wa-ḥamalnaahu ʻalaa ẓaati ʹalwaaḥiñw Wadusur,

And We carried him on a [construction of] planks and nails,

  159. 54:14

Tajree biʹaʻyuninaa; jazaaaʹal limañ kaana kufir!

Sailing under Our observation as reward for he who had been denied.

  160. 54:15

Wa-laq̣at taraknaahaaa ʹAayatañ fahal mim muddakir?

And We left it as a sign, so is there any who will remember?

  161. 54:16

    Fakayfa kaana ʻAẓaabee wa-Nuẓur?

And how [severe] were My punishment and warning.

  162. 54:17

    Wa-laq̣ad yassarnal Q̣urʹaana liẓ-Ẓikri fahal mim muddakir?

And We have certainly made the Qur’ān easy for remembrance, so is there any who will remember?

  163. 54:18

Kaẓẓabat ʻAaduñ fakayfa kaana ʻAẓaabee wa-Nuẓur.

ʿAad denied; and how [severe] were My punishment and warning.

  164. 54:19

ʹInnaaa ʹarsalnaa ʻalayhim reeḥañ ṣarṣarañ fee Yawmi naḥsim mustamirr,

Indeed, We sent upon them a screaming wind on a day of continuous misfortune,

  165. 54:20

Tañziʻun naasa kaʹannahum ʹaʻjaazu nakhlim muñq̣aʻir.

Extracting the people as if they were trunks of palm trees uprooted.

  166. 54:21

    Fakayfa kaana ʻaẓaabee wa-nuẓur?

And how [severe] were My punishment and warning.

  167. 54:22

    Wa-laq̣ad yassarnal Q̣urʹaana liẓ-Ẓikri fahal mim muddakir?

And We have certainly made the Qur’ān easy for remembrance, so is there any who will remember?

  168. 54:23

    Kaẓẓabat S̤amoodu bin-Nuẓur.

    Thamūd denied the warning.

  169. 54:24

Faq̣aalooo ʹabasharam minnaa waaḥidan nattabiʻuhooo ʹinnaaa ʹiẓal lafee ḍalaaliñw wasuʻur!

And said, "Is it one human being among us that we should follow? Indeed, we would then be in error and madness.

  170. 54:25

ʹA-ʹulq̣iyaẓ Ẓikru ʻalayhi mim bayninaa bal huwa kaẓẓaabun ʹashir!

Has the message been sent down upon him from among us? Rather, he is an insolent liar."

  171. 54:26

    Sayaʻlamoona g̣adam manil kaẓẓaabul ʹashir!

They will know tomorrow who is the insolent liar.

  172. 54:27

ʹInnaa mursilun naaq̣ati fitnatal lahum fartaq̣ibhum waṣṭabir!

Indeed, We are sending the she-camel as trial for them, so watch them and be patient.

  173. 54:28

Wa-nabbiʹhum ʹannal maaaʹa q̣ismatum baynahum: kullu shirbim muḥtaḍar.

And inform them that the water is shared between them, each [day of] drink attended [by turn].

  174. 54:29

    Fanaadaw ṣaaḥibahum fataʻaaṭaa faʻaq̣ar.

But they called their companion, and he dared and hamstrung [her].

  175. 54:30

    Fakayfa kaana ʻAẓaabee wa-Nuẓur!

And how [severe] were My punishment and warning.

  176. 54:31

ʹInnaaa ʹarsalnaa ʻalayhim Ṣayḥatañw waaḥidatañ fakaanoo kahasheemil muḥtaz̤̣ir.

Indeed, We sent upon them one shriek [i.e., blast from the sky], and they became like the dry twig fragments of an [animal] pen.

  177. 54:32

    Wa-laq̣ad yassarnal Q̣urʹaana liẓ-Ẓikri fahal mim muddakir?

And We have certainly made the Qur’ān easy for remembrance, so is there any who will remember?

  178. 54:33

    Kaẓẓabat Q̣awmu Looṭim bin-Nuẓur.

The people of Lot denied the warning.

  179. 54:34

ʹInnaaa ʹarsalnaa ʻalayhim ḥaaṣiban ʹillaaa ʹaala Looṭ; najjaynaahum̃ bisaḥar,―

Indeed, We sent upon them a storm of stones, except the family of Lot - We saved them before dawn.

  180. 54:35

Niʻmatam min ʻIñdinaa; kaẓaalika najzee mañ shakar.

As favor from Us. Thus do We reward he who is grateful.

  181. 54:36

    Wa-laq̣ad ʹañẓarahum̃ baṭshatanaa fatamaaraw bin-Nuẓur.

And he had already warned them of Our assault, but they disputed the warning.

  182. 54:37

Wa-laq̣ad raawadoohu ʻañ ḍayfihee faṭamasnaaa ʹaʻyunahum faẓooq̣oo ʻAẓaabee wa-nuẓur.

And they had demanded from him his guests, but We obliterated their eyes, [saying], "Taste My punishment and warning."

  183. 54:38

    Wa-laq̣ad ṣabbaḥahum̃ bukratan ʻAẓaabum mustaq̣irr:

And there came upon them by morning an abiding punishment.

  184. 54:39

    Faẓooq̣oo ʻAẓaabee wa-Nuẓur.

So taste My punishment and warning.

  185. 54:40

    Wa-laq̣ad yassarnal Q̣urʹaana liẓ-Ẓikri fahal mim muddakir?

And We have certainly made the Qur’ān easy for remembrance, so is there any who will remember?

  186. 54:41

    Wa-laq̣ad jaaaʹa ʹAala Firʻawnan nuẓur.

And there certainly came to the people of Pharaoh warning.

  187. 54:42

Kaẓẓaboo biʹAayaatinaa kullihaa faʹakhaẓnaahum ʹakhẓa ʻAzeezim Muq̣tadir.

They denied Our signs, all of them, so We seized them with a seizure of one Exalted in Might and Perfect in Ability.

  188. 54:43

ʹAkuffaarukum khayrum min ʹulaaaʹikum ʹam lakum̃ baraaaʹatuñ fiz Zubur?

Are your disbelievers better than those [former ones], or have you immunity in the scriptures?

  189. 54:44

    ʹAm yaq̣ooloona naḥnu jameeʻum muñtaṣir?

Or do they say, "We are an assembly supporting [each other]"?

  190. 54:45

    Sayuhzamul jamʻu wa-yuwalloonad dubur.

[Their] assembly will be defeated, and they will turn their backs [in retreat].

  191. 54:46

Balis Saaaʻatu mawʻiduhum was-Saaʻatu ʹadhaa wa-ʹamarr.

But the Hour is their appointment [for due punishment], and the Hour is more disastrous and more bitter.

  192. 54:47

    ʹInnal mujrimeena fee ḍalaaliñw wasuʻur.

Indeed, the criminals are in error and madness..

  193. 54:48

Yawma yus-ḥaboona fin Naari ʻalaa wujoohihim: ẓooq̣oo massa Saq̣ar!

The Day they are dragged into the Fire on their faces [it will be said], "Taste the touch of Saqar."

  194. 54:49

    ʹInnaa Kulla shayʹin khalaq̣naahu biq̣adar.

Indeed, all things We created with predestination.

  195. 54:50

Wa-maaa ʹAmrunaaa ʹillaa waaḥidatuñ kalamḥim bil-baṣar.

And Our command is but one, like a glance of the eye.

  196. 54:51

Wa-laq̣ad ʹahlaknaaa ʹashyaaʻakum fahal mim muddakir?

And We have already destroyed your kinds, so is there any who will remember?

  197. 54:52

    Wa-kullu shayʹiñ faʻaloohu fiz Zubur:

And everything they did is in written records.

  198. 54:53

    Wa-kullu ṣag̣eeriñw wakabeerim mustaṭar.

And every small and great [thing] is inscribed.

  199. 54:54

    ʹInnal Muttaq̣eena fee Jannaatiñw Wanahar,

Indeed, the righteous will be among gardens and rivers,

  200. 54:55

    Fee Maq̣ʻadi Ṣidq̣in ʻiñda Maleekim Muq̣tadir.

In a seat of honor near a Sovereign, Perfect in Ability.

  201. Surah Ar-RahmanBegins here at 55:1

    ʹAR-RAḤ-MAAN.

    The Most Merciful

  203. 55:2

    ʻAllamal Q̣urʹaan.

    Taught the Qur’ān,

  204. 55:3

    Khalaq̣al ʹiñsaan.

    Created man,

  205. 55:4

    ʻAllamahul bayaan.

    [And] taught him eloquence.

  206. 55:5

    ٱلشَّمْسُ وَٱلْقَمَرُ بِحُسْبَانٍ

    ʹAshshamsu walq̣amaru biḥusbaan;

The sun and the moon [move] by precise calculation,

  207. 55:6

    Wannajmu washshajaru yasjudaan.

And the stars and trees prostrate.

  208. 55:7

    Was-Samaaaʹa rafaʻahaa wa-waḍaʻal Meezaan

And the heaven He raised and imposed the balance

  209. 55:8

    ʹAllaa taṭg̣aw fil meezaan.

That you not transgress within the balance.

  210. 55:9

    Wa-ʹaq̣eemul wazna bilq̣isṭi wa-laa tukhsirul meezaan.

And establish weight in justice and do not make deficient the balance.

  211. 55:10

    Wal-ʹarḍa waḍaʻahaa lilʹanaam:

And the earth He laid [out] for the creatures.

  212. 55:11

    فِيهَا فَـٰكِهَةٌ وَٱلنَّخْلُ ذَاتُ ٱلْأَكْمَامِ

    Feehaa faakihatuñw wan-nakhlu ẓaatul ʹakmaam;

Therein is fruit and palm trees having sheaths [of dates]

  213. 55:12

    Walḥabbu ẓul ʻaṣfi war-rayḥaan.

And grain having husks and scented plants.

  214. 55:13

    Fabiʹayyi ʹaalaaaʹi Rabbikumaa tukaẓẓibaan?

So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny?

  215. 55:14

    Khalaq̣al ʹiñsaana miñ ṣalṣaaliñ kalfakhkhaar,

He created man from clay like [that of] pottery.

  216. 55:15

Wa-khalaq̣al Jaaanna mim maarijim min Naar:

And He created the jinn from a smokeless flame of fire.

  217. 55:16

    Fabiʹayyi ʹaalaaaʹi Rabbikumaa tukaẓẓibaan?

So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny?

  218. 55:17

    Rabbul Mashriq̣ayni wa-rabbul Mag̣ribayn:

[He is] Lord of the two sunrises and Lord of the two sunsets.

  219. 55:18

    Fabiʹayyi ʹaalaaʹi Rabbikumaa tukaẓẓibaan?

So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny?

  220. 55:19

    مَرَجَ ٱلْبَحْرَيْنِ يَلْتَقِيَانِ

    Marajal baḥrayni yaltaq̣iyaan:

    He released the two seas, meeting [one another];

  221. 55:20

    Baynahumaa Barzakhul laa yabg̣iyaan:

Between them is a barrier so neither of them transgresses.

  222. 55:21

    Fabiʹayyi ʹaalaaaʹi Rabbikumaa tukaẓẓibaan?

So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny?

  223. 55:22

    Yakhruju minhumal Luʹluʹu wal-Marjaan:

From both of them emerge pearl and coral.

  224. 55:23

    Fabiʹayyi ʹaalaaaʹi Rabbikumaa tukaẓẓibaan?

So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny?

  225. 55:24

    Wa-lahul Jawaaril muñ-shaʹaaatu fil baḥri kal-ʹaʻlaam:

And to Him belong the ships [with sails] elevated in the sea like mountains.

  226. 55:25

    Fabiʹayyi ʹaalaaaʹi Rabbikumaa tukaẓẓibaan?

So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny?

  227. 55:26

    Kullu man ʻalayhaa faan:

  318. 56:38

    LiʹAṣḥaabil Yameen.

For the companions of the right [who are]

  319. 56:39

    S̤ullatum minal ʹawwaleen.

A company of the former peoples

  320. 56:40

    Wa-s̤ullatum minal ʹaakhireen.

And a company of the later peoples.

  321. 56:41

    Wa-ʹAṣḥaabush Shimaal,― maaa ʹAṣḥaabush shimaal?

And the companions of the left - what are the companions of the left?

  322. 56:42

    Fee samoomiñw waḥameem,―

[They will be] in scorching fire and scalding water

  323. 56:43

    Wa-z̤̣illim miñy yaḥmoom:

And a shade of black smoke,

  324. 56:44

    Laa baaridiñw walaa kareem,

    Neither cool nor beneficial.

  325. 56:45

    ʹInnahum kaanoo q̣abla ẓaalika mutrafeen,

Indeed they were, before that, indulging in affluence,

  326. 56:46

    Wa-kaanoo yuṣirroona ʻalal ḥins̤il ʻaz̤̣eem!

And they used to persist in the great violation,

  327. 56:47

    Wa-kaanu yaq̣ooloona, ʹaʹiẓaa mitnaa wa-kunnaa turaabañw waʻiz̤̣aaman ʹaʹinnaa lamabʻoos̤oon,

And they used to say, "When we die and become dust and bones, are we indeed to be resurrected?

  328. 56:48

    ʹA-waʹaabaaaʹunal ʹawwaloon?

    And our forefathers [as well]?"

  329. 56:49

    Q̣ul ʹinnal ʹawwaleena wal-ʹaakhireen,

Say, [O Muḥammad], "Indeed, the former and later peoples

  330. 56:50

    Lamajmooʻoona ʹilaa meeq̣aati Yawmim maʻloom.

Are to be gathered together for the appointment of a known Day."

  331. 56:51

    S̤umma ʹinnakum ʹayyuhaḍ ḍaaalloonal mukaẓẓiboon!

Then indeed you, O those astray [who are] deniers,

  332. 56:52

    Laʹaakiloona miñ Shajarim miñ Zaq̣q̣oom.

Will be eating from trees of zaqqūm

  333. 56:53

    Famaaliʹoona minhal buṭoon,―

And filling with it your bellies

  334. 56:54

    Fashaariboona ʻalayhi minal Ḥameem:

And drinking on top of it from scalding water

  335. 56:55

    Fashaariboona shurbal heem.

And will drink as the drinking of thirsty camels.

  336. 56:56

    Haaẓaa nuzuluhum Yawmad Deen!

That is their accommodation on the Day of Recompense.

  337. 56:57

    Naḥnu khalaq̣naakum falawlaa tuṣaddiq̣oon?

We have created you, so why do you not believe?

  338. 56:58

    ʹAfaraʹaytum maa tumnoon?

Have you seen that which you emit?

  339. 56:59

    ʹAʹañtum takhluq̣oonahooo ʹam Naḥnul Khaaliq̣oon?

Is it you who creates it, or are We the Creator?

  340. 56:60

    Naḥnu q̣addarnaa baynakumul Mawta wa-maa Naḥnu bimasbooq̣een

We have decreed death among you, and We are not to be outdone

  341. 56:61

ʻAlaaa ʹan nubaddila ʹAms̤aalakum wa-nuñshiʹakum fee maa laa- taʻlamoon.

In that We will change your likenesses and produce you in that [form] which you do not know.

  342. 56:62

Wa-laq̣ad ʻalimtumun nashʹatal ʹoolaa falawlaa taẓakkaroon?

And you have already known the first creation, so will you not remember?

  343. 56:63

    ʹAfaraʹaytum maa taḥrus̤oon?

And have you seen that [seed] which you sow?

  344. 56:64

    ʹAʹañtum tazraʻoonahooo ʹam Naḥnuz zaariʻoon?

Is it you who makes it grow, or are We the grower?

  345. 56:65

Law nashaaaʹu lajaʻal-naahu ḥuṭaamañ faz̤̣altum tafakkahoon:

If We willed, We could make it [dry] debris, and you would remain in wonder,

  346. 56:66

    إِنَّا لَمُغْرَمُونَ

    ʹInnaa lamug̣ramoon:

    [Saying], "Indeed, we are [now] in debt;

  347. 56:67

    Bal naḥnu maḥroomoon.

    Rather, we have been deprived."

  348. 56:68

    ʹAfaraʹaytumul maaa ʹallaẓee tashraboon?

And have you seen the water that you drink?

  349. 56:69

ʹAʹañtum ʹañzaltumoohu minal muzni ʹam Naḥnul muñziloon?

Is it you who brought it down from the clouds, or is it We who bring it down?

  350. 56:70

Law nashaaaʹu jaʻalnaahu ʹujaajañ falawlaa tashkuroon?

If We willed, We could make it bitter, so why are you not grateful?

  351. 56:71

    ʹAfaraʹaytumun naaral latee tooroon?

And have you seen the fire that you ignite?

  352. 56:72

ʹAʹañtum ʹañshaʹtum shajaratahaaa ʹam Naḥnul muñshiʹoon?

Is it you who produced its tree, or are We the producer?

  353. 56:73

    Naḥnu jaʻalnaahaa taẓkiratañw wamataaʻal lilmuq̣ween.

We have made it a reminder and provision for the travelers,

  354. 56:74

    Fasabbiḥ bismi Rabbikal ʻAz̤̣eem!

So exalt the name of your Lord, the Most Great.

  355. 56:75

    Falaaa ʹuq̣simu bimawaaq̣iʻin Nujoom,―

Then I swear by the setting of the stars,

  356. 56:76

    Wa-ʹinnahoo laq̣asamul law taʻlamoona ʻaz̤̣eem,―

And indeed, it is an oath - if you could know - [most] great.

  357. 56:77

    ʹInnahoo la-Q̣urʹaanuñ Kareem,

Indeed, it is a noble Qur’ān.

  358. 56:78

    Fee Kitaabim maknoon,―

    In a Register well-protected;.

  359. 56:79

    Laa- yamassuhooo ʹillal muṭahharoon:

None touch it except the purified [i.e., the angels].

  360. 56:80

    Tañzeelum mir Rabbil ʻAalameen.

[It is] a revelation from the Lord of the worlds.

  361. 56:81

    ʹAfabihaaẓal Ḥadees̤i ʹañtum mudhinoon?

Then is it to this statement that you are indifferent

  362. 56:82

    Wa-tajʻaloona rizq̣akum ʹannakum tukaẓẓiboon?

And make [the thanks for] your provision that you deny [the Provider]?

  363. 56:83

    Falawlaa ʹiẓaa balag̣atil ḥulq̣oom,―

Then why, when it [i.e., the soul at death] reaches the throat

  364. 56:84

    Wa-ʹañtum ḥeenaʹiẓiñ tañz̤̣uroon,―

And you are at that time looking on -

  365. 56:85

    Wa-Naḥnu ʹaq̣rabu ʹilayhi miñkum wa-laakil laa tubṣiroon,―

And We [i.e., Our angels] are nearer to him than you, but you do not see -

  366. 56:86

    Falawlaaa ʹiñ kuñtum g̣ayra madeeneen,―

Then why do you not, if you are not to be recompensed,

  367. 56:87

    Tarjiʻoonahaaa ʹiñ kuñtum ṣaadiq̣een?

Bring it back, if you should be truthful?

  368. 56:88

    Faʹammaaa ʹiñ kaana minal Muq̣arrabeen,―

And if he [i.e., the deceased] was of those brought near [to Allāh],

  369. 56:89

    Fa-Rawḥuñw Wa-Rayḥaanuñw Wa-Jannatu Naʻeem.

Then [for him is] rest and bounty and a garden of pleasure.

  370. 56:90

Wa-ʹammaaa ʹiñ kaana min ʹAṣḥaabil yameen.―

And if he was of the companions of the right,

  371. 56:91

    Fa-Salaamul laka min Aṣḥaabil yameen.

Then [the angels will say], "Peace for you; [you are] from the companions of the right."

  372. 56:92

Wa-ʹammaaa ʹiñ kaana minal Mukaẓẓibeenaḍ ḍaaalleen,

But if he was of the deniers [who were] astray,

  373. 56:93

    Fanuzulum min ḥameem,―

Then [for him is] accommodation of scalding water

  374. 56:94

    Wa-taṣliyatu Jaḥeem.

    And burning in Hellfire.

  375. 56:95

    ʹInna haaẓaa lahuwa Ḥaq̣q̣ul Yaq̣een.

Indeed, this is the true certainty,

  376. 56:96

    Fasabbiḥ bismi Rabbikal ʻAz̤̣eem.

So exalt the name of your Lord, the Most Great.

  377. Surah Al-HadidBegins here at 57:1

  378. 57:1

Sabbaḥa lillaahi maa- fis samaawaati wal-ʹarḍ: wa-Huwal ʻAzeezul Ḥakeem.

Whatever is in the heavens and earth exalts Allāh, and He is the Exalted in Might, the Wise.

  379. 57:2

Lahoo Mulkus samaawaati wal-ʹarḍ: yuḥyee wa-yumeet; wa-Huwa ʻalaa kulli shayʹiñ Q̣adeer.

His is the dominion of the heavens and earth. He gives life and causes death, and He is over all things competent.

  380. 57:3

Huwal ʹAwwalu walʹAakhiru waz̤̣-Z̤̣aahiru wal-Baaṭin: wa-Huwa bikulli shayʹin ʻAleem.

He is the First and the Last, the Ascendant and the Intimate, and He is, of all things, Knowing.

  381. 57:4

Huwal laẓee khalaq̣as samaawaati wal ʹarḍa fee Sittati ʹAyyaamiñ s̤ummas tawaa ʻalal ʻArsh. Yaʻlamu maa- yaliju filʹarḍi wa-maa yakhruju minhaa wa-maa yañzilu minas samaaaʹi wa-maa yaʻruju feehaa. Wa-Huwa maʻakum ʹayna maa- kuñtum. Wallaahu bimaa taʻmaloona baṣeer.

It is He who created the heavens and earth in six days and then established Himself above the Throne. He knows what penetrates into the earth and what emerges from it and what descends from the heaven and what ascends therein; and He is with you wherever you are. And Allāh, of what you do, is Seeing.

  382. 57:5

Lahoo Mulkus samaawaati wal-ʹarḍ: wa-ʹilal laahi turjaʻul ʹumoor.

His is the dominion of the heavens and earth. And to Allāh are returned [all] matters.

  383. 57:6

Yoolijul Layla fin Nahaari wa-yoolijun Nahaara fil Layl; wa-Huwa ʻAleemum biẓaatiṣ ṣudoor.

He causes the night to enter the day and causes the day to enter the night, and He is Knowing of that within the breasts.

  384. 57:7

ʹAaminoo billaahi wa-Rasoolihee wa-ʹañfiq̣oo mimmaa jaʻalakum mustakhlafeena feeh. Fallaẓeena ʹaamanoo miñkum wa-ʹañfaq̣oo lahum ʹAjruñ kabeer.

Believe in Allāh and His Messenger and spend out of that in which He has made you successive inheritors. For those who have believed among you and spent, there will be a great reward.

  385. 57:8

Wa-maa lakum laa- tuʹminoona billaahi war-Rasoolu yadʻookum lituʹminoo bi-Rabbikum wa-q̣ad ʹakhaẓa Mees̤aaq̣akum ʹiñ kuñtum Muʹmineen.

And why do you not believe in Allāh while the Messenger invites you to believe in your Lord and He has taken your covenant, if you should [truly] be believers?

  386. 57:9

Huwal laẓee yunazzilu ʻalaa ʻAbdiheee ʹAayaatim Bayyinaatil liyukhrijakum minaz̤̣ Z̤̣ulumaati ʹilan Noor. Wa-ʹinnal laaha bikum la-Raʻoofur Raḥeem.

It is He who sends down upon His Servant [Muḥammad (ﷺ)] verses of clear evidence that He may bring you out from darknesses into the light. And indeed, Allāh is to you Kind and Merciful.

  387. 57:10

Wa-maa lakum ʹallaa tuñfiq̣oo fee Sabeelil laahi wa-lillaahi meeraas̤us samaawaati wal-ʹarḍ. Laa- yastawee miñkum man ʹañfaq̣a miñ q̣ablil Fat-ḥi wa-q̣aatal. ʹUlaaaʹika ʹaʻz̤̣amu darajatam minal laẓeena ʹañfaq̣oo mim baʻdu wa-q̣aataloo. Wa-kullañw waʻad allaahul ḥusnaa. Wallaahu bimaa taʻmaloona Khabeer.

And why do you not spend in the cause of Allāh while to Allāh belongs the heritage of the heavens and the earth? Not equal among you are those who spent before the conquest [of Makkah] and fought [and those who did so after it]. Those are greater in degree than they who spent afterwards and fought. But to all Allāh has promised the best [reward]. And Allāh, of what you do, is Aware.

  388. 57:11

Mañ ẓal laẓee yuq̣riḍul laaha Q̣arḍan Ḥasanañ fayuḍaaʻifahoo lahoo wa-lahooo ʹajruñ kareem.

Who is it that would loan Allāh a goodly loan so He will multiply it for him and he will have a noble reward?

  389. 57:12

Yawma taral Muʹmineena wal-Muʹminaati yasʻaa Nooruhum̃ bayna ʹaydeehim wa-biʹaymaanihim Bushraakumul Yawma Jannaatuñ tajree miñ taḥtihal ʹanhaaru khaalideena feeha! Ẓaalika huwal Fawzul ʻaz̤̣eem!

On the Day you see the believing men and believing women, their light proceeding before them and on their right, [it will be said], "Your good tidings today are [of] gardens beneath which rivers flow, wherein you will abide eternally." That is what is the great attainment.

  390. 57:13

Yawma yaq̣oolul Munaafiq̣oona wal-Munaafiq̣aatu lil-laẓeena ʹaamanuñ z̤̣uroonaa naq̣tabis min Noorikum! Q̣eela rjiʻoo waraaaʹakum faltamisoo nooraa! Faḍuriba baynahum̃ bisooril lahoo baab. Baaṭinuhoo feehir Raḥmatu wa-z̤̣aahiruhoo miñ q̣ibalihil ʻaẓaab!

On the [same] Day the hypocrite men and hypocrite women will say to those who believed, "Wait for us that we may acquire some of your light." It will be said, "Go back behind you and seek light." And a wall will be placed between them with a door, its interior containing mercy, but on the outside of it is torment.

  391. 57:14

Yunaadoonahum ʹalam nakum maʻakum? Q̣aaloo balaa walaakinnakum fatañtum ʹañfusakum wa-tarabbaṣtum wartabtum wa-g̣arratkumul ʹamaaniyyu ḥattaa jaaaʹa ʹAmrul laahi wa-g̣arrakum̃ billaahil G̣aroor.

They [i.e., the hypocrites] will call to them [i.e., the believers], "Were we not with you?" They will say, "Yes, but you afflicted yourselves and awaited [misfortune for us] and doubted, and wishful thinking deluded you until there came the command of Allāh. And the Deceiver [i.e., Satan] deceived you concerning Allāh.

  392. 57:15

Fal-Yawma laa- yuʹkhaẓu miñkum fidyatuñw walaa minal laẓeena kafaroo. Maʹwaakumun Naar: hiya maw-laakum: wa-biʹsal Maṣeer!

So today no ransom will be taken from you or from those who disbelieved. Your refuge is the Fire. It is most worthy of you, and wretched is the destination."

  393. 57:16

ʹAlam yaʹni lil-laẓeena ʹaamanooo ʹañ takhshaʻa q̣uloobuhum liẓikril laahi wa-maa nazala minal Ḥaq̣q̣i wa-laa yakoonoo kallaẓeena ʹootul Kitaaba miñ q̣ablu faṭaala ʻalayhimul ʹamadu faq̣asat q̣uloobuhum? Wa-kas̤eerum minhum faasiq̣oon.

Has the time not come for those who have believed that their hearts should become humbly submissive at the remembrance of Allāh and what has come down of the truth? And let them not be like those who were given the Scripture before, and a long period passed over them, so their hearts hardened; and many of them are defiantly disobedient.

  394. 57:17

Know that Allāh gives life to the earth after its lifelessness. We have made clear to you the signs; perhaps you will understand.

  395. 57:18

    ʹInnal Muṣṣaddiq̣eena wal-Muṣṣaddiq̣aati wa-ʹaq̣raḍul laaha Q̣arḍan ḥasanañy yuḍaaʻafu lahum wa-lahum ʹajruñ kareem.

Indeed, the men who practice charity and the women who practice charity and [they who] have loaned Allāh a goodly loan - it will be multiplied for them, and they will have a noble reward.

  396. 57:19

Wallaẓeena ʹaamanoo billaahi wa-rusulihee ʹulaaaʹika humuṣ Ṣiddeeq̣oona wash-Shuhadaaaʹu ʻiñda Rabbihim: lahum ʹAjruhum wa-Nooruhum. Wallaẓeena kafaroo wa-kaẓẓaboo biʹAayaatinaaa ʹulaaaʹika ʹAṣḥaabul Jaḥeem.

And those who have believed in Allāh and His messengers - those are [in the ranks of] the supporters of truth and the martyrs, with their Lord. For them is their reward and their light. But those who have disbelieved and denied Our verses - those are the companions of Hellfire.

  397. 57:20

ʹIʻlamooo ʹannamal ḥayaatud dunyaa laʻibuñw walahwuñw wazeenatuñw watafaakhurum baynakum wa-takaas̤uruñ fil ʹamwaali wal-ʹawlaad; Kamas̤ali g̣ays̤in ʹaʻjabal kuffaara nabaatuhoo s̤umma yaheeju fataraahu muṣfarrañ s̤umma yakoonu ḥuṭaamaa. Wa-fil ʹAakhirati ʻAẓaabuñ shadeeduñw wa-Mag̣firatum minal laahi wa-Riḍwaan. Wa-mal ḥayatud dun-yaaa ʹillaa mataaʻul g̣uroor?

Know that the life of this world is but amusement and diversion and adornment and boasting to one another and competition in increase of wealth and children - like the example of a rain whose [resulting] plant growth pleases the tillers; then it dries and you see it turned yellow; then it becomes [scattered] debris. And in the Hereafter is severe punishment and forgiveness from Allāh and approval. And what is the worldly life except the enjoyment of delusion.

  398. 57:21

Saabiq̣ooo ʹilaa Mag̣firatim mir Rabbikum wa-Jannatin ʻarḍuhaa kaʻarḍis samaaaʹi wal-ʹarḍi ʹuʻiddat lillaẓeena ʹaamanoo billaahi wa-rusulih: ẓaalika Faḍlul laahi yuʹteehi mañy yashaaaʹ: wal-laahu Ẓul Faḍlil ʻAḍeem.

Race [i.e., compete] toward forgiveness from your Lord and a Garden whose width is like the width of the heavens and earth, prepared for those who believed in Allāh and His messengers. That is the bounty of Allāh which He gives to whom He wills, and Allāh is the possessor of great bounty.

  399. 57:22

Maaa ʹaṣaaba mim muṣeebatiñ fil ʹarḍi wa-laa feee ʹañfusikum ʹillaa fee kitaabim miñ q̣abli ʹan nabraʹahaa: ʹinna ẓaalika ʻalal laahi yaseer:

No disaster strikes upon the earth or among yourselves except that it is in a register before We bring it into being - indeed that, for Allāh, is easy -

  400. 57:23

Likaylaa taʹsaw ʻalaa maa- faatakum wa-laa tafraḥoo bimaaa ʹaataakum. Wallaahu laa- yuḥibbu kulla mukhtaaliñ fakhoor,―

In order that you not despair over what has eluded you and not exult [in pride] over what He has given you. And Allāh does not like everyone self-deluded and boastful -

  401. 57:24

ʹAllaẓeena yabkhaloona wa-yaʹmuroonan naasa bil-bukhl. Wa-mañy yatawalla faʹinnal laaha Huwal G̣aniyyul Ḥameed.

[Those] who are stingy and enjoin upon people stinginess. And whoever turns away - then indeed, Allāh is the Free of need, the Praiseworthy.

  402. 57:25

Laq̣ad ʹarsalnaa rusulanaa bil-Bayyinaati wa-ʹañzalnaa maʻahumul Kitaaba wal-Meezaana liyaq̣ooman naasu bilq̣isṭ; wa-ʹañzalnal ḤADEEDA feehi baʹsuñ shadeeduñw wamanaafiʻu linnaasi wa-liyaʻlamal laahu mañy yañṣuruhoo wa-rusulahoo bil-G̣ayb: ʹinnal laaha Q̣awiyyun ʻAzeez.

We have already sent Our messengers with clear evidences and sent down with them the Scripture and the balance that the people may maintain [their affairs] in justice. And We sent down iron, wherein is great military might and benefits for the people, and so that Allāh may make evident those who support Him and His messengers unseen. Indeed, Allāh is Powerful and Exalted in Might.

  403. 57:26

Wa-laq̣ad ʹarsalnaa Nooḥañw WaʹIbraaheema wa-jaʻalnaa fee ẓurriyatihiman Nubuwwata wal-kitaaba faminhum muhtad, wa-kas̤eerum minhum faasiq̣oon.

And We have already sent Noah and Abraham and placed in their descendants prophethood and scripture; and among them is he who is guided, but many of them are defiantly disobedient.

  404. 57:27

S̤umma q̣affaynaa ʻalaaa ʹaas̤aarihim̃ birusulinaa wa-q̣affaynaa biʻEesab ni Maryama wa-ʹaataynaahul ʹIñjeel; wa-jaʻalnaa fee q̣uloobil laẓeenat tabaʻoohu Raʹfatañw Wa-Raḥmah. Wa-Rahbaaniyyatan ibtadaʻoohaa maa- katabnaahaa ʻalayhim ʹillab tig̣aaaʹa Riḍwaanil laahi famaa raʻawhaa ḥaq̣q̣a riʻaayatihaa. Faʹaataynal laẓeena ʹaamanoo minhum ʹajrahum, wa-kas̤eerum minhum faasiq̣oon.

Then We sent following their footsteps [i.e., traditions] Our messengers and followed [them] with Jesus, the son of Mary, and gave him the Gospel. And We placed in the hearts of those who followed him compassion and mercy and monasticism, which they innovated; We did not prescribe it for them except [that they did so] seeking the approval of Allāh. But they did not observe it with due observance. So We gave the ones who believed among them their reward, but many of them are defiantly disobedient.

  405. 57:28

Yaaaʹayyuhal laẓeena ʹaamanut taq̣ul laaha wa-ʹaaminoo bi-Rasoolihee yuʹtikum kiflayni mir Raḥmatihee wa-yajʻal lakum Noorañ tamshoona bihee wa-yag̣fir lakum: wallaahu G̣afoorur Raḥeem:

O you who have believed, fear Allāh and believe in His Messenger; He will [then] give you a double portion of His mercy and make for you a light by which you will walk and forgive you; and Allāh is Forgiving and Merciful.

  406. 57:29

Liʹallaa yaʻlama ʹAhlul Kitaabi ʹallaa yaq̣diroona ʻalaa shayʹim miñ Faḍlil laahi wa-ʹannal Faḍla biyadil laahi yuʹteehi mañy yashaaaʹ. Wallaahu Ẓul Faḍlil ʻAz̤̣eem.

[This is] so that the People of the Scripture may know that they are not able [to obtain] anything from the bounty of Allāh and that [all] bounty is in the hand of Allāh; He gives it to whom He wills. And Allāh is the possessor of great bounty.
