41:47
ʹIlayhi yuraddu ʻilmus Saaʻah: wa-maa takhruju miñ s̤amaraatim min ʹakmaamihaa wa-maa taḥmilu min ʹuñs̤aa wa-laa taḍaʻu ʹillaa biʻilmih. Wa-Yawma yunaadeehim ʹayna shurakaaaʹee q̣aalooo ʹaaẓannaaka maa- minnaa miñ shaheed!
To Him [alone] is attributed knowledge of the Hour. And fruits emerge not from their coverings nor does a female conceive or give birth except with His knowledge. And the Day He will call to them, "Where are My 'partners'?" they will say, "We announce to You that there is [no longer] among us any witness [to that]."
-
41:48
Wa-ḍalla ʻanhum maa kaanoo yadʻoona miñ q̣ablu waz̤̣annoo maa- lahum mim maḥeeṣ.
And lost from them will be those they were invoking before, and they will be certain that they have no place of escape.
-
41:49
Laa- yasʹamul ʹiñsaanu miñ duʻaaaʹil khayri wa-ʹim massa hushsharru fayaʹoosuñ q̣anooṭ.
Man is not weary of supplication for good [things], but if evil touches him, he is hopeless and despairing.
-
41:50
Wa-laʹin ʹaẓaq̣naahu Raḥmatam minnaa mim baʻdi ḍar-raaaʹa massathu layaq̣oolanna haaẓaa lee wa-maaa ʹaz̤̣unnus Saaʻata q̣aaaʹimatañw walaʹir rujiʻtu ʹilaa Rabbeee ʹinna lee ʻiñdahoo lalḥusnaa! Falanunabbiʹannal laẓeena kafaroo bimaa ʻamiloo, wa-lanuẓeeq̣an-nahum min ʻAẓaabin g̣aleez̤̣.
And if We let him taste mercy from Us after an adversity which has touched him, he will surely say, "This is [due] to me, and I do not think the Hour will occur; and [even] if I should be returned to my Lord, indeed, for me there will be with Him the best." But We will surely inform those who disbelieved about what they did, and We will surely make them taste a massive punishment.
-
41:51
Wa-ʹiẓaaa ʹanʻamnaa ʻalal ʹiñsaani ʹaʻraḍa wa-naʹaa bijaanibih; wa-ʹiẓaa massahush sharru faẓoo duʻaaaʹin ʻareeḍ!
And when We bestow favor upon man, he turns away and distances himself; but when evil touches him, then he is full of extensive supplication.
-
41:52
Q̣ul ʹaraʹaytum ʹiñ kaana min ʻiñdil laahi s̤umma kafartum̃ bihee man ʹaḍallu mimman huwa fee shiq̣aaq̣im baʻeed?
Say, "Have you considered: if it [i.e., the Qur’ān] is from Allāh and you disbelieved in it, who would be more astray than one who is in extreme dissension?"
-
41:53
Sanureehim ʹAayaatinaa fil ʹaafaaq̣i wa-feee ʹañfusihim ḥattaa yatabayyana lahum ʹannahul Ḥaq̣q̣. ʹA-walam yakfi bi-Rabbika ʹannahoo ʻalaa kulli shayʹiñ shaheed?
We will show them Our signs in the horizons and within themselves until it becomes clear to them that it is the truth. But is it not sufficient concerning your Lord that He is, over all things, a Witness?
-
41:54
ʹAlaaa ʹinnahum fee miryatim mil Liq̣aaaʹi Rabbihim? ʹAlaaa ʹinnahoo bikulli shayʹim Muḥeeṭ.
Unquestionably, they are in doubt about the meeting with their Lord. Unquestionably He is, of all things, encompassing.

42:3
Kaẓaalika yooḥeee ʹilayka wa-ʹilal laẓeena miñ q̣ablikal laahul ʻAzeezul Ḥakeem.
Thus has He revealed to you, [O Muḥammad], and to those before you - Allāh, the Exalted in Might, the Wise.
-
42:4
Lahoo maa- fis samaawaati wa-maa fil ʹarḍ: wa-Huwal ʻAliyyul ʻAz̤̣eem.
To Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is in the earth, and He is the Most High, the Most Great.
-
42:5
Takaadus samaawaatu yatafaṭṭarna miñ fawq̣ihinna walmalaaaʹikatu yusabbiḥoona bi-Ḥamdi Rabbihim wa-yastag̣firoona limañ fil ʹarḍ: ʹalaaa ʹinnal laaha Huwal G̣afoorur Raḥeem.
The heavens almost break from above them, and the angels exalt [Allāh] with praise of their Lord and ask forgiveness for those on earth. Unquestionably, it is Allāh who is the Forgiving, the Merciful.
-
42:6
Wallaẓeenat takhaẓoo miñ dooniheee ʹawliyaaaʹal laahu ḥafeez̤̣un ʻalayhim wa-maaa ʹañta ʻalayhim̃ biwakeel.
And those who take as allies other than Him - Allāh is [yet] Guardian over them; and you, [O Muḥammad], are not over them a manager -
-
42:7
Wa-kaẓaalika ʹawḥaynaaa ʹilayka Q̣ur-ʹaanan ʻArabiyyal lituñẓira ʹUmmal Q̣uraa wa-man ḥawlahaa wa-tuñẓira Yawmal Jamʻi laa- rayba feeh: fareeq̣uñ fil Jannati wa-fareeq̣uñ fis Saʻeer.
And thus We have revealed to you an Arabic Qur’ān that you may warn the Mother of Cities [i.e., Makkah] and those around it and warn of the Day of Assembly, about which there is no doubt. A party will be in Paradise and a party in the Blaze.
-
42:8
Wa-law shaaaʹal laahu lajaʻalahum ʹUmmatañw Waaḥidatañw walaakiñy yudkhilu mañy yashaaaʹu fee Raḥmatih; waz̤̣z̤̣aalimoona maa- lahum miñw waliyyiñw walaa naṣeer.
And if Allāh willed, He could have made them [of] one religion, but He admits whom He wills into His mercy. And the wrongdoers have not any protector or helper.
-
42:9
ʹAmit takhaẓoo miñ dooniheee ʹawliyaaaʹ? Fallaahu Huwal Waliyyu wa-Huwa yuḥyil mawtaa, wa-Huwa ʻalaa kulli shayʹiñ Q̣adeer.
Or have they taken protectors [or allies] besides Him? But Allāh - He is the Protector, and He gives life to the dead, and He is over all things competent.
-
42:10
Wa-makh talaftum feehi miñ shayʹiñ faḥukmuhooo ʹilal laah: ẓaalikumul laahu Rabbee ʻalayhi tawakkaltu wa-ʹilayhi ʹuneeb.
And in anything over which you disagree - its ruling is [to be referred] to Allāh. [Say], "That is Allāh, my Lord; upon Him I have relied, and to Him I turn back."
-
42:11
Faaṭirus samaawaati wal-ʹarḍ! Jaʻala lakum min ʹañfusikum ʹazwaajañw Waminal ʹanʻaami ʹazwaajaa: yaẓraʹukum feeh: Laysa kamis̤lihee shayʹ; wa-Huwas sameeʻul Baṣeer.
[He is] Creator of the heavens and the earth. He has made for you from yourselves, mates, and among the cattle, mates; He multiplies you thereby. There is nothing like unto Him, and He is the Hearing, the Seeing.
-
42:12
Lahoo maq̣aaleedus samaawaati wal-ʹarḍ; Yabsuṭur Rizq̣a limañy yashaaaʹu wa-yaq̣dir: ʹinnahoo bikulli shayʹin ʻAleem.
To Him belong the keys of the heavens and the earth. He extends provision for whom He wills and restricts [it]. Indeed He is, of all things, Knowing.
-
42:13
Sharaʻa lakum minad Deeni maa- waṣṣaa bihee Nooḥañw wallaẓeee ʹawḥaynaaa ʹilayka wa-maa waṣṣaynaa biheee ʹIbraaheema wa-Moosaa wa-ʻEesaaa ʹan ʹaq̣eemud Deena wa-laa tatafarraq̣oo feeh: kabura ʻalal mushrikeena maa- tadʻoohum ʹilayh. ʹAllaahu yajtabeee ʹilayhi mañy yashaaaʹu wa-yahdeee ʹilayhi mañy yuneeb.
He has ordained for you of religion what He enjoined upon Noah and that which We have revealed to you, [O Muḥammad], and what We enjoined upon Abraham and Moses and Jesus - to establish the religion and not be divided therein. Difficult for those who associate others with Allāh is that to which you invite them. Allāh chooses for Himself whom He wills and guides to Himself whoever turns back [to Him].
-
42:14
Wa-maa tafarraq̣ooo ʹillaa mim baʻdi maa- jaaaʹahumul ʻilmu bag̣yam baynahum. Wa-lawlaa Kalimatuñ sabaq̣at mir Rabbika ʹilaaa ʹajalim musammal liq̣uḍiya baynahum: wa-ʹinnal laẓeena ʹooris̤ul Kitaaba mim baʻdihim lafee shakkim minhu mureeb.
And they did not become divided until after knowledge had come to them - out of jealous animosity between themselves. And if not for a word that preceded from your Lord [postponing the penalty] until a specified time, it would have been concluded between them. And indeed, those who were granted inheritance of the Scripture after them are, concerning it, in disquieting doubt.
-
42:15
Faliẓaalika fadʻu wastaq̣im kamaaa ʹumirt. Wa-laa tattabiʻ ʹahwaaaʹahum; wa-q̣ul ʹaamañtu bimaaa ʹañzala laahu miñ Kitaab; wa-ʹumirtu liʹaʻdila baynakum. ʹAllaahu Rabbunaa wa-Rabbukum. Lanaaa ʹaʻmaalunaa wa-lakum ʹaʻmaalukum. Laa- ḥujjata baynanaa wa-baynakum. ʹAllaahu yajmaʻu baynanaa, wa-ʹilayhil maṣeer.
So to that [religion of Allāh] invite, [O Muḥammad], and remain on a right course as you are commanded and do not follow their inclinations but say, "I have believed in what Allāh has revealed of scripture [i.e., the Qur’ān], and I have been commanded to do justice among you. Allāh is our Lord and your Lord. For us are our deeds, and for you your deeds. There is no [need for] argument between us and you. Allāh will bring us together, and to Him is the [final] destination."
-
42:16
Wallaẓeena yuḥaaajjoona fil laahi mim baʻdi mas tujeeba lahoo ḥujjatuhum daaḥiḍatun ʻiñda Rabbihim wa-ʻalayhim g̣aḍabuñw walahum ʻAẓaabuñ shadeed.
And those who argue concerning Allāh after He has been responded to - their argument is invalid with their Lord, and upon them is [His] wrath, and for them is a severe punishment.
-
42:17
ʹAllaahul laẓeee ʹañzalal Kitaaba bilḥaq̣q̣i wal-Meezaan. Wa-maa yudreeka laʻallas Saaʻata q̣areeb?
It is Allāh who has sent down the Book in truth and [also] the balance [i.e., justice]. And what will make you perceive? Perhaps the Hour is near.
-
42:18
Yastaʻjilu bihal laẓeena laa- yuʹminoona bihaa: wallaẓeena ʹaamanoo mushfiq̣oona minhaa wa-yaʻlamoona ʹannahal Ḥaq̣q̣. ʹAlaaa ʹinnal laẓeena yumaaroona fis Saaʻati lafee ḍalaalim baʻeed.
Those who do not believe in it are impatient for it, but those who believe are fearful of it and know that it is the truth. Unquestionably, those who dispute concerning the Hour are in extreme error.
-
42:19
ʹAllaahu Laṭeefum biʻibaadihee yarzuq̣u mañy yashaaaʹ: wa-Huwal Q̣awiyyul ʻAzeez.
Allāh is Subtle with His servants; He gives provision to whom He wills. And He is the Powerful, the Exalted in Might.
-
42:20
Mañ kaana yureedu ḥars̤al ʹAakhirati nazid lahoo fee ḥars̤ih; wa-mañ kaana yureedu ḥars̤ad dunyaa nuʹtihee minhaa wa-maa lahoo fil ʹAakhirati min naṣeeb.
Whoever desires the harvest of the Hereafter - We increase for him in his harvest [i.e., reward]. And whoever desires the harvest [i.e., benefits] of this world - We give him thereof, but there is not for him in the Hereafter any share.
-
42:21
ʹAm lahum shurakaaaʹu sharaʻoo lahum minad Deeni maa- lam yaʹẓam bihil laah? Wa-lawlaa Kalimatul Faṣli laq̣uḍiya baynahum. Wa-ʹinnaz̤̣ z̤̣aalimeena lahum ʻAẓaabun ʹaleem.
Or have they partners [i.e., other deities] who have ordained for them a religion to which Allāh has not consented? But if not for the decisive word, it would have been concluded between them. And indeed, the wrongdoers will have a painful punishment.
-
42:22
Taraz̤̣ z̤̣aalimeena mushfiq̣eena mimmaa kasaboo wa-huwa waaq̣iʻum bihim. Wallaẓeena ʹaamanoo wa-ʻamiluṣ ṣaaliḥaati fee rawḍaatil Jannaat: lahum maa yashaaaʹoona ʻiñda Rabbihim. Ẓaalika huwal Faḍlul Kabeer.
You will see the wrongdoers fearful of what they have earned, and it will [certainly] befall them. And those who have believed and done righteous deeds will be in lush regions of the gardens [in Paradise] having whatever they will in the presence of their Lord. That is what is the great bounty.
-
42:23
Ẓaalikal laẓee yubashshirul laahu ʻIbaadahul laẓeena ʹaamanoo wa-ʻamiluṣ ṣaaliḥaat. Q̣ul laaa ʹasʹalukum ʻalayhi ʹajran ʹillal mawaddata fil q̣urbaa. Wa-mañy yaq̣tarif ḥasanatan nazid lahoo feehaa ḥusnaa: ʹinnal laaha G̣afooruñ Shakoor.
It is that of which Allāh gives good tidings to His servants who believe and do righteous deeds. Say, [O Muḥammad], "I do not ask you for it [i.e., this message] any payment [but] only good will through [i.e., due to] kinship." And whoever commits a good deed - We will increase for him good therein. Indeed, Allāh is Forgiving and Appreciative.
-
42:24
ʹAm yaq̣ooloonaf taraa ʻalal laahi kaẓibaa? Faʹiñy yasha ʹillaahu yakhtim ʻalaa q̣albik. Wa-yamḥul laahul Baaṭila wa-yuḥiq̣q̣ul Ḥaq̣q̣a bi-Kalimaatih. ʹInnahoo ʻAleemum biẓaatiṣ ṣudoor.
Or do they say, "He has invented about Allāh a lie"? But if Allāh willed, He could seal over your heart. And Allāh eliminates falsehood and establishes the truth by His words. Indeed, He is Knowing of that within the breasts.

42:25
Wa-Huwal laẓee yaq̣balut Tawbata ʻan ʻIbaadihee wa-yaʻfoo ʻanis sayyiʹaati wayaʻlamu maa- tafʻaloon.
And it is He who accepts repentance from His servants and pardons misdeeds, and He knows what you do.
-
42:26
Wa-yastajeebul laẓeena ʹaamanoo wa-ʻamiluṣ ṣaaliḥaati wa-yazeeduhum miñ faḍlih: wal-kaafiroona lahum ʻAẓaabuñ shadeed.
And He answers [the supplication of] those who have believed and done righteous deeds and increases [for] them from His bounty. But the disbelievers will have a severe punishment.
-
42:27
Wa-law basaṭal laahur Rizq̣a liʻIbaadihee labag̣aw fil ʹarḍi walaakiñy yunazzilu biq̣adarim maa yashaaaʹ. ʹInnahoo biʻIbaadihee Khabeerum Baṣeer.
And if Allāh had extended [excessively] provision for His servants, they would have committed tyranny throughout the earth. But He sends [it] down in an amount which He wills. Indeed He is, of His servants, Aware and Seeing.
-
42:28
Wa-Huwal laẓee yunazzilul g̣ays̤a mim baʻdi maa- q̣anaṭoo wa-yañshuru Raḥmatah. Wa-Huwal Waliyyul Ḥameed.
And it is He who sends down the rain after they had despaired and spreads His mercy. And He is the Protector, the Praiseworthy.
-
42:29
Wa-min ʹAayaatihee khalq̣us samaawaati wal-ʹarḍi wa-maa bas̤s̤a feehimaa miñ daaabbah: wa-Huwa ʻalaa jamʻihim ʹiẓaa yashaaaʹu Q̣adeer.
And of His signs is the creation of the heavens and earth and what He has dispersed throughout them of creatures. And He, for gathering them when He wills, is competent.
-
42:30
Wa-maaa ʹaṣaabakum mim muṣeebatiñ fabimaa kasabat ʹaydeekum wa-yaʻfoo ʻañ kas̤eer.
And whatever strikes you of disaster - it is for what your hands have earned; but He pardons much.
-
42:31
Wa-maaa ʹañtum̃ bimuʻjizeena fil ʹarḍi lakum wa-maa miñ doonil laahi miñw waliyyiñw naṣeer. wa-laa
And you will not cause failure [to Allāh] upon the earth. And you have not besides Allāh any protector or helper.
-
42:32
Wa-min ʹAayaatihil jawaari fil baḥri kal-ʹaʻlaam.
And of His signs are the ships in the sea, like mountains.
-
42:33
ʹIñy yashaʹ yuskinir reeḥa fayaz̤̣lalna rawaakida ʻalaa z̤̣ahrih. ʹInna fee ẓaalika laʹAayaatil likulli ṣabbariñ shakoor.
If He willed, He could still the wind, and they would remain motionless on its surface. Indeed in that are signs for everyone patient and grateful.
-
42:34
ʹAw yoobiq̣hunna bimaa kasaboo wa-yaʻfu ʻañ kas̤eer.
Or He could destroy them for what they earned; but He pardons much.
-
42:35
Wa-yaʻlamal laẓeena yujaadiloona feee Aayaatinaa, maa-ʹ lahum mim maḥeeṣ.
And [that is so] those who dispute concerning Our signs may know that for them there is no place of escape.
-
42:36
Famaaa ʹooteetum miñ shayʹiñ famataaʻul ḥayaatid dunyaa: wa-maa ʻiñdal laahi khayruñw waʹabq̣aa lillaẓeena ʹaamanoo wa-ʻalaa Rabbihim yatawakkaloon;
So whatever thing you have been given - it is but [for] enjoyment of the worldly life. But what is with Allāh is better and more lasting for those who have believed and upon their Lord rely
-
42:37
Wallaẓeena yajtaniboona kabaaaʹiral ʹis̤mi wal-fawaaḥisha waʹiẓaa maa- g̣aḍiboo hum yag̣firoon;
And those who avoid the major sins and immoralities, and when they are angry, they forgive,
-
42:38
Wallaẓeenas tajaaboo li-Rabbihim wa-ʹaq̣aamuṣ Ṣalaah; wa-ʹamruhum SHOORAA baynahum; wa-mimmaa razaq̣naahum yuñfiq̣oon;
And those who have responded to their Lord and established prayer and whose affair is [determined by] consultation among themselves, and from what We have provided them, they spend,
-
42:39
Wallaẓeena ʹiẓaaa ʹaṣaabahumul bag̣yu hum yañtaṣiroon.
And those who, when tyranny strikes them, they retaliate [in a just manner].
-
42:40
Wa-jazaaaʹu sayyiʹatiñ sayyiʹatum mis̤luhaa: faman ʻafaa wa-ʹaṣlaḥa faʹajruhoo ʻalal laah: ʹinnahoo laa- yuḥibbuz̤̣ z̤̣aalimeen.
And the retribution for an evil act is an evil one like it, but whoever pardons and makes reconciliation - his reward is [due] from Allāh. Indeed, He does not like wrongdoers.
-
42:41
Wa-lamaniñ taṣara baʻda z̤̣ulmihee faʹulaaaʹika maa- ʻalayhim miñ sabeel.
And whoever retaliates after having been wronged - those have not upon them any cause [for blame].
-
42:42
ʹInnamas sabeelu ʻalal laẓeena yaz̤̣limoonan naasa wa-yabg̣oona fil ʹarḍi big̣ayril ḥaq̣q̣: ʹulaaaʹika lahum ʻAẓaabun ʹaleem.
The cause is only against the ones who wrong the people and tyrannize upon the earth without right. Those will have a painful punishment.
-
42:43
Wa-lamañ ṣabara wa-g̣afara ʹinna ẓaalika lamin ʻazmil ʹumoor.
And whoever is patient and forgives - indeed, that is of the matters [worthy] of resolve.
-
42:44
Wa-mañy yuḍli lillaahu famaa lahoo miñw waliyyim mim baʻdih. Wa-taraz̤̣ z̤̣aalimeena lammaa raʹawul ʻaẓaaba yaq̣ooloona hal ʹilaa maraddim miñ sabeel?
And he whom Allāh sends astray - for him there is no protector beyond Him. And you will see the wrongdoers, when they see the punishment, saying, "Is there for return [to the former world] any way?"
-
42:45
Wa-taraahum yaʻraḍoona ʻalayhaa khaashiʻeena minaẓ ẓulli yañz̤̣uroona miñ ṭarfin khafiyy. Wa-q̣aalal laẓeena ʹaamanooo ʹinnal khaasireenal laẓeena khasirooo ʹañfusahum wa-ʹahleehim Yawmal Q̣iyaamah. ʹAlaaa ʹinnaz̤̣ z̤̣aalimeena fee ʻAẓaabim muq̣eem!
And you will see them being exposed to it [i.e., the Fire], humbled from humiliation, looking from [behind] a covert glance. And those who had believed will say, "Indeed, the [true] losers are the ones who lost themselves and their families on the Day of Resurrection. Unquestionably, the wrongdoers are in an enduring punishment."
-
42:46
Wa-maa kaana lahum min ʹawliyaaaʹa yañṣuroonahum miñ doonil laah. Wa-mañy yuḍlilil laahu famaa lahoo miñ sabeel.
And there will not be for them any allies to aid them other than Allāh. And whoever Allāh sends astray - for him there is no way.
-
42:47
ʹIstajeeboo li-Rabbikum miñ q̣abli ʹañy yaʹtiya Yawmul laa maradda lahoo min allaah. maa- lakum mim maljaʹiñy Yawmaʹiẓiñw Wa-Maa lakum min nakeer.
Respond to your Lord before a Day comes from Allāh of which there is no repelling. No refuge will you have that Day, nor for you will there be any denial.
-
42:48
Faʹin ʹaʻraḍoo famaaa ʹarsalnaaka ʻalayhim ḥafeez̤̣aa. ʹIn ʻalayka ʹillal balaag̣. Wa-ʹinnaaa ʹiẓaaa ʹaẓaq̣nal ʹiñsaana minnaa Raḥmatañ fariḥa bihaa: wa-ʹiñ tuṣibhum sayyiʹatum bimaa q̣addamat ʹaydeehim faʹinnal ʹiñsaana kafoor!
But if they turn away - then We have not sent you, [O Muḥammad], over them as a guardian; upon you is only [the duty of] notification. And indeed, when We let man taste mercy from Us, he rejoices in it; but if evil afflicts him for what his hands have put forth, then indeed, man is ungrateful.
-
42:49
Lillaahi mulkus samaawaati wal-ʹarḍ. Yakhluq̣u maa- yashaaaʹ. Yahabu limañy yashaaaʹu ʹinaas̤añw wa-yahabu limañy yashaaaʹuẓ ẓukoor,
To Allāh belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth; He creates what He wills. He gives to whom He wills female [children], and He gives to whom He wills males.
-
42:50
ʹAw yuzawwijuhum ẓukraanañw waʹinaas̤aa; wa-yajʻalu mañy yashaaaʹu ʻaq̣eemaa: ʹinnahoo ʻAleemuñ Q̣adeer.
Or He makes them [both] males and females, and He renders whom He wills barren. Indeed, He is Knowing and Competent.
-
42:51
Wa-maa kaana libasharin ʹañy yukallimahul laahu ʹillaa Waḥyan ʹaw miñw waraaaʹi ḥijaabin ʹaw yursila rasoolañ fayooḥiya biʹiẓnihee maa- yashaaaʹ: ʹinnahoo ʻAliyyun Ḥakeem.
And it is not for any human being that Allāh should speak to him except by revelation or from behind a partition or that He sends a messenger [i.e., angel] to reveal, by His permission, what He wills. Indeed, He is Most High and Wise.
-
42:52
Wa-kaẓaalika ʹawḥaynaaa ʹilayka Rooḥam min ʹamrinaa: maa- kuñta tadree mal kitaabu wa-lal ʹeemaanu wa-laakiñ jaʻalnaahu Nooran nahdee bihee man nashaaaʹu min ʻIbaadinaa: wa-ʹinnaka latahdeee ʹilaa Ṣiraaṭim Mustaq̣eem,―
And thus We have revealed to you an inspiration of Our command [i.e., the Qur’ān]. You did not know what is the Book or [what is] faith, but We have made it a light by which We guide whom We will of Our servants. And indeed, [O Muḥammad], you guide to a straight path -
-
42:53
Ṣiraaṭil laahil laẓee lahoo maa- fis samaawaati wa-maa fil ʹarḍ; ʹAlaaa ʹilal laahi taṣeerul ʹumoor.
The path of Allāh, to whom belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth. Unquestionably, to Allāh do [all] matters evolve [i.e., return].

Wal-Kitaabil Mubeen,―
By the clear Book,
-
43:3
Indeed, We have made it an Arabic Qur’ān that you might understand.
-
43:4
Wa-ʹinnahoo feee ʹUmmil Kitaabi ladaynaa laʻaliyyun Ḥakeem.
And indeed it is, in the Mother of the Book with Us, exalted and full of wisdom.
-
43:5
ʹA-fanaḍribu ʻañkumuẓ Ẓikra ṣafḥan ʹañ kuñtum q̣awmam musrifeen?
Then should We turn the message away, disregarding you, because you are a transgressing people?
-
43:6
Wa-kam ʹarsalnaa min nabiyyiñ fil ʹawwaleen?
And how many a prophet We sent among the former peoples,
-
43:7
Wa-maa yaʹteehim min nabiyyin ʹillaa kaanoo bihee yastahziʹoon.
But there would not come to them a prophet except that they used to ridicule him.
-
43:8
Faʹahlaknaaa ʹashadda minhum̃ baṭshañw wamaḍaa Mas̤alul ʹawwaleen.
And We destroyed greater than them in [striking] power, and the example of the former peoples has preceded.
-
43:9
Wa-laʹiñ saʹaltahum man khalaq̣as samaawaati wal-ʹarḍa layaq̣oolunna khalaq̣ahunnal ʻAzeezul ʻAleem;―
And if you should ask them, "Who has created the heavens and the earth?" they would surely say, "They were created by the Exalted in Might, the Knowing,"
-
43:10
ʹAllaẓee jaʻala lakumul ʹarḍa mahdañw wajaʻala lakum feehaa subulal laʻallakum tahtadoon;
[The one] who has made for you the earth a bed and made for you upon it roads that you might be guided
-
43:11
Wallaẓee nazzala minas samaaaʹi maaaʹam biq̣adar;― faʹañsharnaa bihee baldatam maytaa; kaẓaalika tukhrajoon;―
And who sends down rain from the sky in measured amounts, and We revive thereby a dead land - thus will you be brought forth -
-
43:12
Wallaẓee khalaq̣al ʹazwaaja kullahaa wa-jaʻala lakum minal fulki wal-ʹanʻaami maa- tarkaboon.
And who created the species, all of them, and has made for you of ships and animals those which you mount
-
43:13
Litastawoo ʻalaa z̤̣uhoorihee s̤umma taẓkuroo niʻmata Rabbikum ʹiẓas tawaytum ʻalayhi wa-taq̣ooloo ʻʻSubḥaanal laẓee sakhkhara lanaa haaẓaa wa-maa kunnaa lahoo muq̣rineen.
That you may settle yourselves upon their backs and then remember the favor of your Lord when you have settled upon them and say, "Exalted is He who has subjected this to us, and we could not have [otherwise] subdued it.
-
43:14
Wa-ʹinnaaa ʹilaa Rabbinaa lamuñq̣aliboon!ʹʹ
And indeed we, to our Lord, will [surely] return."
-
43:15
Wa-jaʻaloo lahoo min ʻibaadihee juzʹaa! ʹInnal ʹiñsaana lakafoorum mubeen!
But they have attributed to Him from His servants a portion. Indeed, man is clearly ungrateful.
-
43:16
ʹAmit takhaẓa mimmaa yakhluq̣u banaatiñw waʹaṣfaakum bilbaneen?
Or has He taken, out of what He has created, daughters and chosen you for [having] sons?
-
43:17
Wa-ʹiẓaa bushshira ʹaḥaduhum̃ bimaa ḍaraba lir-Raḥmaani mas̤alañ z̤̣alla wajhuhoo muswaddañw wahuwa kaz̤̣eem!
And when one of them is given good tidings of that which he attributes to the Most Merciful in comparison [i.e., a daughter], his face becomes dark, and he suppresses grief.
-
43:18
ʹA-wamañy yunashshaʹu fil ḥilyati wa-huwa fil khiṣaami g̣ayru mubeen?
So is one brought up in ornaments while being during conflict unevident [attributed to Allāh]?
-
43:19
Wa-jaʻalul malaaaʹikatal laẓeena hum ʻibaadur Raḥmaani ʹinaas̤aa. ʹA-shahidoo khalq̣ahum? Satuktabu shahaadatuhum wa-yusʹaloon!
And they described the angels, who are servants of the Most Merciful, as females. Did they witness their creation? Their testimony will be recorded, and they will be questioned.
-
43:20
Wa-q̣aaloo law shaaaʹar Raḥmaanu Maa- ʻabadnaahum! maa- lahum̃ biẓaalika min ʻilm! ʹIn hum ʹillaa yakhruṣoon!
And they said, "If the Most Merciful had willed, we would not have worshipped them." They have of that no knowledge. They are not but misjudging.
-
43:21
ʹAm ʹaataynaahum Kitaabam miñ q̣ablihee fahum̃ bihee mustamsikoon?
Or have We given them a book before it [i.e., the Qur’ān] to which they are adhering?
-
43:22
Bal q̣aalooo ʹinnaa wajadnaaa ʹaabaaaʹanaa ʻalaaa ʹummatiñw Waʹinnaa ʻalaaa ʹaas̤aarihim muhtadoon.
Rather, they say, "Indeed, we found our fathers upon a religion, and we are in their footsteps [rightly] guided."
-
43:23
Wa-kaẓaalika maaa ʹarsalnaa miñ q̣ablika fee q̣aryatim min Naẓeerin ʹillaa q̣aala mutrafoohaaa ʹinnaa wajadnaaa ʹaabaaaʹanaa ʻalaaa ʹummatiñw waʹinnaa ʻalaaa ʹaas̤aarihim muq̣tadoon.
And similarly, We did not send before you any warner into a city except that its affluent said, "Indeed, we found our fathers upon a religion, and we are, in their footsteps, following."
-
43:24
Q̣aala ʹa-wa law jiʹtukum̃ biʹahdaa mimmaa wajattum ʻalayhi ʹaabaaaʹakum? Q̣aalooo ʹinnaa bimaaa ʹursiltum̃ bihee kaafiroon.
[Each warner] said, "Even if I brought you better guidance than that [religion] upon which you found your fathers?" They said, "Indeed we, in that with which you were sent, are disbelievers."
-
43:25
Fañtaq̣amnaa minhum fañz̤̣ur kayfa kaana ʻaaq̣ibatul mukaẓẓibeen!
So We took retribution from them; then see how was the end of the deniers.
-
43:26
Wa-ʹiẓ q̣aala ʹIbraaheemu liʹabeehi wa-q̣awmiheee ʹinnanee baraaaʹum mimmaa taʻbudoon:
And [mention, O Muḥammad], when Abraham said to his father and his people, "Indeed, I am disassociated from that which you worship
-
43:27
ʹIllal laẓee faṭaranee faʹinnahoo sayahdeen.
Except for He who created me; and indeed, He will guide me."
-
43:28
Wa-jaʻalahaa Kalimatam baaq̣iyatañ fee ʻaq̣ibihee laʻallahum yarjiʻoon.
And he made it a word remaining among his descendants that they might return [to it].
-
43:29
Bal mattaʻtu haaaʹulaaaʹi wa-ʹaabaaaʹahum ḥattaa jaaaʹahumul Ḥaq̣q̣u wa-Rasoolum mubeen.
However, I gave enjoyment to these [people of Makkah] and their fathers until there came to them the truth and a clear Messenger.
-
43:30
Wa-lammaa jaaaʹahumul Ḥaq̣q̣u q̣aaloo haaẓaa siḥruñw waʹinnaa bihee kaafiroon.
But when the truth came to them, they said, "This is magic, and indeed we are, concerning it, disbelievers."
-
43:31
Waq̣aaloo Law-laa nuzzila haaẓal Q̣urʹaanu ʻalaa rajulim minal q̣aryatayni ʻaz̤̣eem?
And they said, "Why was this Qur’ān not sent down upon a great man from [one of] the two cities?"
-
43:32
ʹAhum yaq̣simoona Raḥmata Rabbik? Naḥnu q̣asamnaa baynahum maʻeeshatahum fil ḥayaatid dunyaa wa-rafaʻnaa baʻḍahum fawq̣a baʻḍiñ darajaatil liyattakhiẓa baʻḍuhum̃ baʻḍañ sukhriyyaa. Wa-Raḥmatu Rabbika khayrum mimmaa yajmaʻoon.
Do they distribute the mercy of your Lord? It is We who have apportioned among them their livelihood in the life of this world and have raised some of them above others in degrees [of rank] that they may make use of one another for service. But the mercy of your Lord is better than whatever they accumulate.
-
43:33
Wa-lawlaaa ʹañy yakoonan naasu ʹummatañw waaḥidatal lajaʻalnaa limañy yakfuru bir-Raḥmaani libuyootihim suq̣ufam miñ fiḍḍatiñw wamaʻaarija ʻalayhaa yaz̤̣haroon,
And if it were not that the people would become one community [of disbelievers], We would have made for those who disbelieve in the Most Merciful - for their houses - ceilings and stairways of silver upon which to mount.
-
43:34
Wa-li-buyootihim ʹabwaabañw Wasururan ʻalayhaa yattakiʹoon,
And for their houses - doors and couches [of silver] upon which to recline
-
43:35
Wa-ZUKHRUFAA. Wa-ʹiñ kullu ẓaalika lammaa mataaʻul ḥayaatid dunyaa: wal-ʹAakhiratu ʻiñda Rabbika lil-Muttaq̣een.
And gold ornament. But all that is not but the enjoyment of worldly life. And the Hereafter with your Lord is for the righteous.
-
43:36
Wa-mañy yaʻshu ʻañ ẓikrir Raḥmaani nuq̣ayyiḍ lahoo shayṭaanañ fahuwa lahoo q̣areen.
And whoever is blinded from remembrance of the Most Merciful - We appoint for him a devil, and he is to him a companion.
-
43:37
Wa-ʹinnahum layaṣuddoonahum ʻanis sabeeli wa-yaḥsaboona ʹannahum muhtadoon!
And indeed, they [i.e., the devils] avert them from the way [of guidance] while they think that they are [rightly] guided
-
43:38
Ḥattaaa ʹiẓaa jaaaʹanaa q̣aala yaa-layta baynee wa-baynaka buʻdal Mashriq̣ayni fabiʹsal q̣areen!
Until, when he comes to Us [at Judgement], he says [to his companion], "How I wish there was between me and you the distance between the east and west; and what a wretched companion."
-
43:39
Wa-lañy yañfaʻakumul yawma ʹiz̤̣ z̤̣alamtum ʹannakum fil ʻaẓaabi mushtarikoon!
And never will it benefit you that Day, when you have wronged, that you are [all] sharing in the punishment.
-
43:40
ʹA-faʹañta tusmiʻuṣ ṣumma ʹaw tahdil ʻumya wa-mañ kaana fee ḍalaalim mubeen?
Then will you make the deaf hear, [O Muḥammad], or guide the blind or he who is in clear error?
-
43:41
Faʹimmaa naẓhabanna bika faʹinnaa minhum muñtaq̣imoon,
And whether [or not] We take you away [in death], indeed, We will take retribution upon them.
-
43:42
ʹAw nuriyannakal laẓee waʻadnaahum faʹinnaa ʻalayhim muq̣tadiroon.
Or whether [or not] We show you that which We have promised them, indeed, We are Perfect in Ability.
-
43:43
Fastamsik billaẓeee ʹooḥiya ʹilayk: ʹinnaka ʻalaa Ṣiraaṭim Mustaq̣eem.
So adhere to that which is revealed to you. Indeed, you are on a straight path.
-
43:44
Wa-ʹinnahoo la-Ẓikrul laka wa-liq̣awmik; wa-sawfa tusʹaloon.
And indeed, it is a remembrance for you and your people, and you [all] are going to be questioned.
-
43:45
Wasʹal man ʹarsalnaa miñ q̣ablika mir rusulinaaa ʹajaʻalnaa miñ doonir Raḥmaani ʹaalihatañy yuʻbadoon?
And ask those We sent before you of Our messengers; have We made besides the Most Merciful deities to be worshipped?
-
43:46
Wa-laq̣ad ʹarsalnaa Moosaa biʹAayaatinaaa ʹilaa Firʻawna wa-malaʹihee faq̣aala ʹinnee Rasoolu Rabbil ʻAalameen.
And certainly did We send Moses with Our signs to Pharaoh and his establishment, and he said, "Indeed, I am the messenger of the Lord of the worlds."
-
43:47
Falammaa jaaaʹahum̃ biʹAayaatinaaa ʹiẓaa hum minhaa yaḍḥakoon.
But when he brought them Our signs, at once they laughed at them.
-
43:48
Wa-maa nureehim min ʹaayatin ʹillaa hiya ʹakbaru min ʹukhtihaa, wa-ʹakhaẓnaahum̃ bilʻaẓaabi laʻallahum yarjiʻoon.
And We showed them not a sign except that it was greater than its sister, and We seized them with affliction that perhaps they might return [to faith].
-
43:49
Wa-q̣aaloo yaaaʹayyuhas saaḥirud ʹu lanaa Rabbaka bimaa ʻahida ʻiñdak; ʹinnanaa lamuhtadoon.
And they said [to Moses], "O magician, invoke for us your Lord by what He has promised you. Indeed, we will be guided."
-
43:50
Falammaa kashafnaa ʻanhumul ʻaẓaaba ʹiẓaa hum yañkus̤oon.
But when We removed from them the affliction, at once they broke their word.
-
43:51
Wa-naadaa Firʻawnu fee q̣awmihee q̣aala yaa-q̣awmi ʹalaysa lee mulku Miṣra wa-haaẓihil ʹanhaaru tajree miñ taḥtee? ʹAfalaa tubṣiroon?
And Pharaoh called out among his people; he said, "O my people, does not the kingdom of Egypt belong to me, and these rivers flowing beneath me; then do you not see?
-
43:52
ʹAm ʹana khayrum min haaẓal laẓee huwa maheenuñw walaa yakaadu yubeen?
Or am I [not] better than this one [i.e., Moses] who is insignificant and hardly makes himself clear?
-
43:53
Falawlaaa ʹulq̣iya ʻalayhi ʹaswiratum miñ ẓahabin ʹaw jaaaʹa maʻahul malaaaʹikatu muq̣tarineen?
Then why have there not been placed upon him bracelets of gold or come with him the angels in conjunction?"
-
43:54
Fastakhaffa q̣awmahoo faʹaṭaaʻooh: ʹinnahum kaanoo q̣awmañ faasiq̣een.
So he bluffed his people, and they obeyed him. Indeed, they were [themselves] a people defiantly disobedient [of Allāh].
-
43:55
Falammaaa ʹaasafoonañ taq̣amnaa minhum faʹag̣raq̣naahum ʹajmaʻeen.
And when they angered Us, We took retribution from them and drowned them all.
-
43:56
Fajaʻalnaahum Salafañw Wa-Mas̤alal lil-ʹaakhireen.
And We made them a precedent and an example for the later peoples.
-
43:57
Wa-lammaa ḍuribab nu Maryama mas̤alan ʹiẓaa q̣awmuka minhu yaṣiddoon!
And when the son of Mary was presented as an example, immediately your people laughed aloud.
-
43:58
Wa-q̣aalooo ʹa-ʹaalihatunaa khayrun ʹam hoo? Maa- ḍaraboohu laka ʹillaa jadalaa: bal hum q̣awmun khaṣimoon.
And they said, "Are our gods better, or is he?" They did not present it [i.e., the comparison] except for [mere] argument. But, [in fact], they are a people prone to dispute.
-
43:59
ʹIn huwa ʹillaa ʻabdun ʹanʻamnaa ʻalayhi wa-jaʻalnaahu mas̤alal li-Baneee ʹIsraaaʹeel.
He [i.e., Jesus] was not but a servant upon whom We bestowed favor, and We made him an example for the Children of Israel.
-
43:60
Wa-law nashaaaʹu lajaʻalnaa miñkum malaaaʹikatañ fil ʹarḍi yakhlufoon.
And if We willed, We could have made [instead] of you angels succeeding [one another] on the earth.
-
43:61
Wa-ʹinnahoo laʻilmul lis-Saaʻati falaa tamtarunna bihaa wattabiʻoon: haaẓaa Ṣiraṭum Mustaq̣eem.
And indeed, he [i.e., Jesus] will be [a sign for] knowledge of the Hour, so be not in doubt of it, and follow Me. This is a straight path.
-
43:62
Wa-laa yaṣuddannakumush Shayṭaan: ʹinnahoo lakum ʻaduwwum mubeen.
And never let Satan avert you. Indeed, he is to you a clear enemy.
-
43:63
Wa-lammaa jaaaʹa ʻEesaa bil-Bayyinaati q̣aala q̣ad jiʹtukum̃ bil-Ḥikmati wa-liʹubayyina lakum baʻḍal laẓee takhtalifoona feeh: fattaq̣ul laaha wa-ʹaṭeeʻoon.
And when Jesus brought clear proofs, he said, "I have come to you with wisdom [i.e., prophethood] and to make clear to you some of that over which you differ, so fear Allāh and obey me.
-
43:64
ʹInnal laaha Huwa Rabbee wa-Rabbukum faʻbudooh: haaẓaa Ṣiraaṭum Mustaq̣eem.
Indeed, Allāh is my Lord and your Lord, so worship Him. This is a straight path."
-
43:65
Fakhtalafal ʹaḥzaabu mim baynihim: fawaylul lil-laẓeena z̤̣alamoo min ʻaẓaabi Yawmin ʹAleem!
But the denominations from among them differed [and separated], so woe to those who have wronged from the punishment of a painful Day.
-
43:66
Hal yañz̤̣uroona ʹillas Saaʻata ʹañ taʹtiyahum̃ bag̣tatañw wahum laa- yashʻuroon?
Are they waiting except for the Hour to come upon them suddenly while they perceive not?
-
43:67
Close friends, that Day, will be enemies to each other, except for the righteous
-
43:68
Yaa-ʻibaadi laa- khawfun ʻalaykumul Yawma wa-laaa ʹañtum taḥzanoon,―
[To whom Allāh will say], "O My servants, no fear will there be concerning you this Day, nor will you grieve,

[You] who believed in Our verses and were Muslims.
-

ʹUdkhulul Jannata ʹañtum wa-ʹazwaajukum tuḥbaroon.
Enter Paradise, you and your kinds, delighted."
-
43:71
Yuṭaafu ʻalayhim̃ biṣiḥaafim miñ ẓahabiñw waʹakwaab: wafeehaa maa- tashtaheehil ʹañfusu wa-talaẓẓul ʹaʻyun: wa-ʹañtum feehaa khaalidoon.
Circulated among them will be plates and vessels of gold. And therein is whatever the souls desire and [what] delights the eyes, and you will abide therein eternally.
-
43:72
Wa-tilkal Jannatul lateee ʹooris̤tumoohaa bimaa kuñtum taʻmaloon.
And that is Paradise which you are made to inherit for what you used to do.
-
43:73
Lakum feeha faakihatuñ kas̤eeratum minhaa taʹkuloon.
For you therein is much fruit from which you will eat.
-

ʹInnal mujrimeena fee ʻaẓaabi Jahannama khaalidoon.
Indeed, the criminals will be in the punishment of Hell, abiding eternally.
-
43:75
Laa- yufattaru ʻanhum wa-hum feehi mublisoon.
It will not be allowed to subside for them, and they, therein, are in despair.
-
43:76
Wa-maa z̤̣alamnaahum wa-laakiñ kaanoo humuz̤̣ z̤̣aalimeen.
And We did not wrong them, but it was they who were the wrongdoers.
-
43:77
Wa-naadaw yaa-Maaliku liyaq̣ḍi ʻalaynaa Rabbuk! Q̣aala ʹinnakum maakis̤oon.
And they will call, "O Mālik, let your Lord put an end to us!" He will say, "Indeed, you will remain."
-
43:78
Laq̣ad jiʹnaakum̃ bil-Ḥaq̣q̣i wa-laakinna ʹaks̤arakum lil-Ḥaq̣q̣i kaarihoon.
We had certainly brought you the truth, but most of you, to the truth, were averse.
-
43:79
ʹAm ʹabramooo ʹamrañ faʹinnaa mubrimoon.
Or have they devised [some] affair? But indeed, We are devising [a plan].
-
43:80
ʹAm yaḥsaboona ʹannaa laa- nasmaʻu sirrahum wa-najwaahum? Balaa wa-Rusulunaa ladayhim yaktuboon.
Or do they think that We hear not their secrets and their private conversations? Yes, [We do], and Our messengers [i.e., angels] are with them recording.
-
43:81
Q̣ul ʹiñ kaana lir-Raḥmaani waladuñ faʹana ʹawwalul ʻaabideen.
Say, [O Muḥammad], "If the Most Merciful had a son, then I would be the first of [his] worshippers."
-
43:82
Subḥaana Rabbis samaawaati wal-ʹarḍi Rabbil ʻArshi ʻammaa yaṣifoon!
Exalted is the Lord of the heavens and the earth, Lord of the Throne, above what they describe.
-
43:83
Faẓarhum yakhooḍoo wa-yalʻaboo ḥattaa yulaaq̣oo Yawmahumul laẓee yooʻadoon.
So leave them to converse vainly and amuse themselves until they meet their Day which they are promised.
-
43:84
Wa-Huwal laẓee fis samaaaʹi ʹIlaahuñw Wafil ʹarḍi ʹIlaah; wa-Huwal Ḥakeemul ʻAleem.

-
43:85
Wa-tabaarakal laẓee lahoo mulkus samaawaati wal-ʹarḍi wa-maa baynahumaa: wa-ʻiñdahoo ʻilmus Saaʻah: wa-ʹilayhi turjaʻoon.
And blessed is He to whom belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth and whatever is between them and with whom is knowledge of the Hour and to whom you will be returned.
-
43:86
Wa-laa yamlikul laẓeena yadʻoona miñ doonihish Shafaaʻata ʹillaa mañ shahida bil-Ḥaq̣q̣i wa-hum yaʻlamoon.
And those they invoke besides Him do not possess [power of] intercession; but only those who testify to the truth [can benefit], and they know.
-
43:87
Wa-laʹiñ saʹaltahum man khalaq̣ahum layaq̣oolun nallaahu faʹannaa yuʹfakoon?
And if you asked them who created them, they would surely say, "Allāh." So how are they deluded?
-
43:88
Wa-q̣eelihee yaa-Rabbi ʹinna haaaʹulaaaʹi q̣awmul laa yuʹminoon!
And [Allāh acknowledges] his saying, "O my Lord, indeed these are a people who do not believe."
-
43:89
Faṣfaḥ ʻanhum wa-q̣ul salaam! Fasawfa yaʻlamoon!
So turn aside from them and say, "Peace." But they are going to know.

Faḍlam mir Rabbik! Ẓaalika huwal fawzul ʻaz̤̣eem!
As bounty from your Lord. That is what is the great attainment.
-
44:58
Faʹinnamaa yassarnaahu bilisaanika laʻallahum yataẓakkaroon.
And indeed, We have eased it [i.e., the Qur’ān] in your tongue that they might be reminded.
-
44:59
Fartaq̣ib ʹinnahum murtaq̣iboon.
So watch, [O Muḥammad]; indeed, they are watching [for your end].
Surah Al-JathiyahBegins here at 45:1

45:1
Ḥaa-Meeem.
Ḥā, Meem.
-
45:2
Tañzeelul Kitaabi minal laahil ʻAzeezil Ḥakeem.
The revelation of the Book is from Allāh, the Exalted in Might, the Wise.
-
45:3
ʹInna fis samaawaati wal-ʹarḍi laʹAayaatil lil-Muʹmineen.
Indeed, within the heavens and earth are signs for the believers.
-
45:4
Wa-fee khalq̣ikum wa-maa yabus̤s̤u miñ daaabbatin ʹAayaatul liq̣awmiñy yooq̣inoon.
And in the creation of yourselves and what He disperses of moving creatures are signs for people who are certain [in faith].
-
45:5
Wakhtilaafil Layli wan-Nahaari wa-maaa ʹañzalal laahu minas samaaaʹi mir Rizq̣iñ faʹaḥyaa bihil ʹarḍa baʻda mawtihaa wa-taṣreefir riyaaḥi ʹAayaatul liq̣awmiñy yaʻq̣iloon.
And [in] the alternation of night and day and [in] what Allāh sends down from the sky of provision [i.e., rain] and gives life thereby to the earth after its lifelessness and [in His] directing of the winds are signs for a people who reason.
-
45:6
Tilka ʹAayaatul laahi natloohaa ʻalayka bil-ḥaq̣q̣: fabiʹayyi ḥadees̤im baʻdal laahi wa-ʹAayaatihee yuʹminoon?
These are the verses of Allāh which We recite to you in truth. Then in what statement after Allāh and His verses will they believe?
-
45:7
Waylul likulli ʹaffaakin ʹas̤eem:
Woe to every sinful liar
-
45:8
yasmaʻu ʹAayaatil laahi tutlaa ʻalayhi s̤umma yuṣirru mustakbirañ kaʹal lam yasmaʻhaa: fabashshirhu biʻAẓaabin ʹaleem!
Who hears the verses of Allāh recited to him, then persists arrogantly as if he had not heard them. So give him tidings of a painful punishment.
-
45:9
Wa-ʹiẓaaa ʻalima min ʹAayaatinaa shayʹanit takhaẓahaa huzuwaa: ʹulaaaʹika lahum ʻAẓaabum muheen.
And when he knows anything of Our verses, he takes them in ridicule. Those will have a humiliating punishment.
-
45:10
Miñw Waraaaʹihim Jahannam: wa-laa yug̣nee ʻanhum maa kasaboo shayʹañw walaa mat takhaẓoo miñ doonil laahi ʹawliyaaaʹ: wa-lahum ʻAẓaabun ʻaz̤̣eem.
Before them is Hell, and what they had earned will not avail them at all nor what they had taken besides Allāh as allies. And they will have a great punishment.
-
45:11
Haaẓaa Hudaa: wal-laẓeena kafaroo biʹAayaati Rabbihim lahum ʻAẓaabum mir rijzin ʹaleem.
This [Qur’ān] is guidance. And those who have disbelieved in the verses of their Lord will have a painful punishment of foul nature.
-
45:12
ʹAllaahul laẓee sakhkhara lakumul baḥra litajriyal fulku feehi biʹamrihee wa-litabtag̣oo miñ Faḍlihee wa-laʻallakum tashkuroon.
It is Allāh who subjected to you the sea so that ships may sail upon it by His command and that you may seek of His bounty; and perhaps you will be grateful.
-
45:13
Wa-sakhkhara lakum maa fis samaawaati wa-maa fil ʹarḍi jameeʻam minh: ʹinna fee ẓaalika laʹAayaatil liq̣awmiñy yatafakkaroon.
And He has subjected to you whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth - all from Him. Indeed in that are signs for a people who give thought.
-
45:14
Q̣ul lillaẓeena ʹaamanoo yag̣firoo lillaẓeena laa- yarjoona ʹAyyaamal laahi liyajziya Q̣awmam bimaa kaanoo yaksiboon.
Say, [O Muḥammad], to those who have believed that they [should] forgive those who expect not the days of Allāh [i.e., of His retribution] so that He may recompense a people for what they used to earn.
-
45:15
Man ʻamila ṣaaliḥañ falinafsih; wa-man ʹasaaaʹa faʻalayhaa. S̤umma ʹilaa Rabbikum turjaʻoon.
Whoever does a good deed - it is for himself; and whoever does evil - it is against it [i.e., the self or soul]. Then to your Lord you will be returned.
-
45:16
Wa-laq̣ad ʹaataynaa Baneee ʹIsraaaʹeelal Kitaaba wal-Ḥukma wan-Nubuwwa wa-razaq̣naahum minaṭ Ṭayyibaati wa-faḍḍalnaahum ʻalal ʻaalameen.
And We did certainly give the Children of Israel the Scripture and judgement and prophethood, and We provided them with good things and preferred them over the worlds.
-
45:17
Wa-ʹaataynaahum̃ Bayyinaatim minal ʹamr: famakh talafooo ʹillaa mim baʻdi maa- jaaaʹahumul ʻilmu bag̣yam baynahum. ʹInna Rabbaka yaq̣ḍee baynahum Yawmal Q̣iyaamati feemaa kaanoo feehi yakhtalifoon.
And We gave them clear proofs of the matter [of religion]. And they did not differ except after knowledge had come to them - out of jealous animosity between themselves. Indeed, your Lord will judge between them on the Day of Resurrection concerning that over which they used to differ.
-
45:18
S̤umma jaʻalnaaka ʻalaa Shareeʻatim minal ʹamri fattabiʻhaa wa-laa tattabiʻ ʹahwaaa ʹallaẓeena laa- yaʻlamoon.
Then We put you, [O Muḥammad], on an ordained way concerning the matter [of religion]; so follow it and do not follow the inclinations of those who do not know.
-
45:19
ʹInnahum lañy yug̣noo ʹañka minal laahi shayʹaa: wa-ʹinnaz̤̣ z̤̣aalimeena baʻḍuhum ʹawliyaaaʹu baʻḍ: wallaahu Wa-liyyul Muttaq̣een.
Indeed, they will never avail you against Allāh at all. And indeed, the wrongdoers are allies of one another; but Allāh is the protector of the righteous.
-
45:20
Haaẓaa Baṣaaaʹiru linnaasi wa-Hudañw wa-Raḥmatul liq̣awmiñy yooq̣inoon.
This [Qur’ān] is enlightenment for mankind and guidance and mercy for a people who are certain [in faith].
-
45:21
ʹAm ḥasibal laẓeenaj taraḥus sayyiʹaati ʹan najʻalahum kallaẓeena ʹaamanoo wa-ʻamiluṣ ṣaaliḥaati sawaaaʹam maḥyaahum wa-mamaatuhum? Saaaʹa maa- yaḥkumoon.
Or do those who commit evils think We will make them like those who have believed and done righteous deeds - [make them] equal in their life and their death? Evil is that which they judge [i.e., assume].
-
45:22
Wa-khalaq̣al laahus samaawaati wal-ʹarḍa bilḥaq̣q̣i wa-litujzaa kullu nafsim bimaa kasabat wa-hum laa- yuz̤̣lamoon.
And Allāh created the heavens and earth in truth and so that every soul may be recompensed for what it has earned, and they will not be wronged.
-
45:23
ʹAfaraʹayta manit takhaẓa ʹilaahahoo hawaahu wa-ʹaḍal-lahul laahu ʻalaa ʻilmiñw Wakhatama ʻalaa samʻihee wa-q̣albihee wa-jaʻala ʻalaa baṣarihee g̣ishaawah. Famañy yahdeehi mim baʻdil laah? ʹAfalaa taẓakkaroon?
Have you seen he who has taken as his god his [own] desire, and Allāh has sent him astray due to knowledge and has set a seal upon his hearing and his heart and put over his vision a veil? So who will guide him after Allāh? Then will you not be reminded?
-
45:24
Wa-q̣aaloo maa- hiya ʹillaa ḥayaatunad dunyaa namootu wa-naḥyaa wa-maa yuhlikunaaa ʹillad Dahr. Wa-maa lahum̃ biẓaalika min ʻilm: ʹin hum ʹillaa yaz̤̣unnoon.
And they say, "There is not but our worldly life; we die and live, and nothing destroys us except time." And they have of that no knowledge; they are only assuming.
-
45:25
Wa-ʹiẓaa tutlaa ʻalayhim ʹAayaatunaa Bayyinaatim maa kaana ḥujjatuhum ʹillaaa ʹañ q̣aaluʹ too biʹaabaaaʹinaaa ʹiñ kuñtum ṣaadiq̣een!
And when Our verses are recited to them as clear evidences, their argument is only that they say, "Bring [back] our forefathers, if you should be truthful."
-
45:26
Q̣ulil laahu yaḥyeekum s̤umma yumeetukum s̤umma yajmaʻukum ʹilaa Yawmil Q̣iyaamati laa- rayba feehi wa-laakinna ʹaks̤aran naasi laa- yaʻlamoon.
Say, "Allāh causes you to live, then causes you to die; then He will assemble you for the Day of Resurrection, about which there is no doubt, but most of the people do not know."
-
45:27
Wa-lillaahi Mulkus samaawaati wal-ʹarḍ. Wa-Yawma taq̣oomus Saaʻatu Yawmaʹiẓiñy yakhsarul mubṭiloon!
And to Allāh belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth. And the Day the Hour appears - that Day the falsifiers will lose.
-
45:28
Wa-taraa kulla ʹummatiñ JAAS̤IYAH: Kullu ʹummatiñ tudʻaaa ʹilaa Kitaabihaa; ʹal-Yawma tujzawna maa- kuñtum taʻmaloon!
And you will see every nation kneeling [from fear]. Every nation will be called to its record [and told], "Today you will be recompensed for what you used to do.
-
45:29
Haaẓaa Kitaabunaa yañṭiq̣u ʻalaykum̃ bilḥaq̣q̣; ʹinnaa kunnaa nastañsikhu maa- kuñtum taʻmaloon.
This, Our record, speaks about you in truth. Indeed, We were having transcribed whatever you used to do."
-
45:30
Faʹammal laẓeena ʹaamanoo wa-ʻamiluṣ ṣaaliḥaati fayudkhiluhum Rabbuhum fee Raḥmatih. Ẓaalika huwal Fawzul mubeen.
So as for those who believed and did righteous deeds, their Lord will admit them into His mercy. That is what is the clear attainment.
-
45:31
Wa-ʹammal laẓeena kafaroo: ʹafalam takun ʹAayaatee tutlaa ʻalaykum fastakbartum wa-kuñtum q̣awmam mujrimeen?
But as for those who disbelieved, [it will be said], "Were not Our verses recited to you, but you were arrogant and became a criminal people?
-
45:32
Wa-ʹiẓaa q̣eela ʹinna waʻdallaahi ḥaq̣q̣uñw was Saaʻatu laa- rayba feehaa q̣ultum maa nadree mas Saaʻatu ʹin naz̤̣unnu ʹillaa z̤̣annañw wamaa naḥnu bimustayq̣ineen.
And when it was said, 'Indeed, the promise of Allāh is truth and the Hour [is coming] - no doubt about it,' you said, 'We know not what is the Hour. We assume only assumption, and we are not convinced.'"
-
45:33
Wa-badaa lahum sayyiʹaatu maa- ʻamiloo wa-ḥaaq̣a bihim maa kaanoo bihee yastahziʹoon!
And the evil consequences of what they did will appear to them, and they will be enveloped by what they used to ridicule.
-
45:34
Wa-q̣eelal Yawma nañsaakum kamaa naseetum Liq̣aaaʹa Yawmikum haaẓaa wa-maʹwaakumun Naaru wa-maa lakum min naaṣireen!
And it will be said, "Today We will forget you as you forgot the meeting of this Day of yours, and your refuge is the Fire, and for you there are no helpers.
-
45:35
Ẓaalikum̃ biʹannakumut takhaẓtum ʹAayaatil laahi huzuwañw wag̣arratkumul ḥayaatud dunyaa: fal-Yawma laa- yukhrajoona minhaa wa-laa hum yustaʻtaboon.
That is because you took the verses of Allāh in ridicule, and worldly life deluded you." So that Day they will not be removed from it, nor will they be asked to appease [Allāh].
-
45:36
Falillaahil Ḥamdu Rabbis samaawaati wa-Rabbil ʹarḍi Rabbil ʻAalameen!
Then, to Allāh belongs [all] praise - Lord of the heavens and Lord of the earth, Lord of the worlds.
-
45:37
Wa-lahul Kibriyaaaʹu fis samaawaati wal-ʹarḍ: wa-Huwal ʻAzeezul Ḥakeem!
And to Him belongs [all] grandeur within the heavens and the earth, and He is the Exalted in Might, the Wise.
