السَّلَامُ عَلَيْكُمْ دَارَ قَوْمٍ مُؤْمِنِينَ، وَإِنَّا إِنْ شَاءَ اللهُ بِكُمْ لَاحِقُونَ

Transliteration

As-salāmu ʿalaykum dāra qawmin muʾminīn, wa innā in shāʾ Allāhu bikum lāḥiqūn.

Translation

Peace be upon you, dwelling of believing people. And indeed, if Allah wills, we will join you.

Dua for Seeking Refuge from Four Trials

اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ عَذَابِ جَهَنَّمَ، وَمِنْ عَذَابِ الْقَبْرِ، وَمِنْ فِتْنَةِ الْمَحْيَا وَالْمَمَاتِ، وَمِنْ شَرِّ فِتْنَةِ الْمَسِيحِ الدَّجَّالِ

Allāhumma innī aʿūdhu bika min ʿadhābi jahannam, wa min ʿadhābi al-qabr, wa min fitnati al-maḥyā wa al-mamāt, wa min sharri fitnati al-masīḥ ad-dajjāl.

O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the punishment of Hell, from the punishment of the grave, from the trials of life and death, and from the evil trial of the False Messiah.

Why this dua?

Seeks refuge from the greatest trials in this life, the grave, and the Hereafter.

Seeking Refuge from Useless Knowledge

اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ عِلْمٍ لَا يَنْفَعُ، وَمِنْ قَلْبٍ لَا يَخْشَعُ، وَمِنْ نَفْسٍ لَا تَشْبَعُ، وَمِنْ دَعْوَةٍ لَا يُسْتَجَابُ لَهَا

Allāhumma innī aʿūdhu bika min ʿilmin lā yanfaʿ, wa min qalbin lā yakhshaʿ, wa min nafsin lā tashbaʿ, wa min daʿwatin lā yustajābu lahā.

O Allah, I seek refuge in You from knowledge that does not benefit, a heart that is not humble, a soul that is never satisfied, and a supplication that is not answered.

Why this dua?

Protects the believer from knowledge without benefit, a hard heart, greed, and unanswered dua.
