Translation by Sahih International

  1. Surah An-NamlBegins here at 27:56

  2. 27:56

Famaa kaana jawaaba q̣awmiheee ʹillaaa ʹañ q̣aalooo ʹakhrijooo ʹaala Looṭim miñ q̣aryatikum: ʹinnahum ʹunaasuñy yataṭahharoon!

But the answer of his people was not except that they said, "Expel the family of Lot from your city. Indeed, they are people who keep themselves pure."

  3. 27:57

    Faʹañjaynaahu wa-ʹahlahooo ʹillam raʹatah: q̣addarnaahaa minal g̣aabireen.

So We saved him and his family, except for his wife; We destined her to be of those who remained behind.

  4. 27:58

Wa-ʹamṭarnaa ʻalayhim maṭaraa: fasaaaʹa maṭarul muñẓareen!

And We rained upon them a rain [of stones], and evil was the rain of those who were warned.

  5. 27:59

Q̣ulil Ḥamdu lillaahi wa-Salaamun ʻalaa ʻibaadihil laẓeenaṣ ṭafaa. ʹAaallaahu khayrun ʻammaa yushrikoon?

Say, [O Muḥammad], "Praise be to Allāh, and peace upon His servants whom He has chosen. Is Allāh better or what they associate with Him?"

  6. 27:60

ʹAmman khalaq̣as samaawaati wal-ʹarḍa wa-ʹañzala lakum minas samaaaʹi maaaʹaa? Faʹambatnaa bihee ḥadaaaʹiq̣a ẓaata bahjah: maa- kaana lakum ʹañ tumbitoo shajarahaa. ʹA-ʹilaahum maʻal laah? Bal hum q̣awmuñy yaʻdiloon.

[More precisely], is He [not best] who created the heavens and the earth and sent down for you rain from the sky, causing to grow thereby gardens of joyful beauty which you could not [otherwise] have grown the trees thereof? Is there a deity with Allāh? [No], but they are a people who ascribe equals [to Him].

  7. 27:61

ʹAmmañ jaʻalal ʹarḍa q̣araarañw wajaʻala khilaalahaaa ʹanhaarañw Wajaʻala lahaa rawaasiya wa-jaʻala baynal baḥrayni ḥaajizaa? ʹA-ʹilaahum ma ʻallaah? Bal ʹaks̤aruhum laa- yaʻlamoon.

Is He [not best] who made the earth a stable ground and placed within it rivers and made for it firmly set mountains and placed between the two seas a barrier? Is there a deity with Allāh? [No], but most of them do not know.

  8. 27:62

ʹAmmañy yujeebul muḍ-ṭarra ʹiẓaa daʻaahu wa-yakshifus soooʹa wa-yajʻalukum khulafaaa ʹalʹarḍ? ʹA-ʹilaahum maʻal laah? Q̣aleelam maa taẓakkaroon!

Is He [not best] who responds to the desperate one when he calls upon Him and removes evil and makes you inheritors of the earth? Is there a deity with Allāh? Little do you remember.

  9. 27:63

ʹAmmañy yahdeekum fee z̤̣ulumaatil barri wal-baḥri wa-mañy yursilur riyaaḥa bushram bayna yaday Raḥmatih? ʹAʹilaahum maʻal laah? Taʻaalal laahu ʻammaa yushrikoon!

Is He [not best] who guides you through the darknesses of the land and sea and who sends the winds as good tidings before His mercy? Is there a deity with Allāh? High is Allāh above whatever they associate with Him.

  10. 27:64

ʹAmmañy yabdaʹul khalq̣a s̤umma yuʻeeduhoo wa-mañy yarzuq̣ukum minas samaaaʹi wal ʹarḍ? ʹA-ʹilaahum maʻallaah? Q̣ul haatoo burhaanakum ʹiñ kuñtum ṣaadiq̣een!

Is He [not best] who begins creation and then repeats it and who provides for you from the heaven and earth? Is there a deity with Allāh? Say, "Produce your proof, if you should be truthful."

  11. 27:65

Q̣ul laa yaʻlamu mañ fis samaawaati wal-ʹarḍil g̣ayba ʹillal laah: wa-maa yashʻuroona ʹayyaana yubʻas̤oon.

Say, "None in the heavens and earth knows the unseen except Allāh, and they do not perceive when they will be resurrected."

  12. 27:66

Balid daaraka ʻilmuhum fil ʹAakhirah: bal hum fee shakkim minhaa; bal hum minhaa ʻamoon!

Rather, their knowledge is arrested concerning the Hereafter. Rather, they are in doubt about it. Rather, they are, concerning it, blind.

  13. 27:67

Wa-q̣aalal laẓeena kafarooo ʹa-ʹiẓaa kunnaa turaabañw waʹaabaaaʹunaaa ʹaʹinnaa lamukhrajoon?

And those who disbelieve say, "When we have become dust as well as our forefathers, will we indeed be brought out [of the graves]?

  14. 27:68

Laq̣ad wuʻidnaa haaẓaa naḥnu wa-ʹaabaaaʹunaa miñ q̣ablu ʹin haaẓaaa ʹillaaa ʹasaaṭeerul ʹawwaleen.

We have been promised this, we and our forefathers, before. This is not but legends of the former peoples."

  15. 27:69

Q̣ul seeroo fil ʹarḍi fañz̤̣uroo kayfa kaana ʻaaq̣ibatul mujrimeen.

Say, [O Muḥammad], "Proceed [i.e., travel] through the land and observe how was the end of the criminals."

  16. 27:70

Wa-laa taḥzan ʻalayhim wa-laa takuñ fee ḍayq̣im mimmaa yamkuroon.

And grieve not over them or be in distress from what they conspire.

  17. 27:71

Wa-yaq̣ooloona mataa haaẓal waʻdu ʹiñ kuñtum ṣaadiq̣een?

And they say, "When is [the fulfillment of] this promise, if you should be truthful?"

  18. 27:72

Q̣ul ʻasaaa ʹañy yakoona radifa lakum baʻḍul laẓee tastaʻjiloon!

Say, "Perhaps it is close behind you [i.e., very near] - some of that for which you are impatient.

  19. 27:73

Wa-ʹinna Rabbaka la-Ẓoo faḍlin ʻalan naasi wa-laakinna ʹaks̤arahum laa- yashkuroon.

And indeed, your Lord is the possessor of bounty for the people, but most of them are not grateful."

  20. 27:74

Wa-ʹinna Rabbaka layaʻlamu maa- tukinnu ṣudooruhum wa-maa yuʻlinoon.

And indeed, your Lord knows what their breasts conceal and what they declare.

  21. 27:75

Wa-maa min g̣aaaʹibatiñ fis samaaaʹi wal-ʹarḍi ʹillaa fee kitaabim mubeen.

And there is nothing concealed within the heaven and the earth except that it is in a clear Register.

  22. 27:76

ʹInna haaẓal Q̣ur-ʹaana yaq̣uṣṣu ʻalaa Baneee ʹIsraaaʹeela ʹaks̤aral laẓee hum feehi yakhtalifoon.

Indeed, this Qur’ān relates to the Children of Israel most of that over which they disagree.

  23. 27:77

    Wa-ʹinnahoo la-Hudañw wa-Raḥmatul lil-Muʹmineen.

And indeed, it is guidance and mercy for the believers.

  24. 27:78

    ʹInna Rabbaka yaq̣ḍee baynahum̃ bi-Ḥukmih: wa-Huwal ʻAzeezul ʻAleem.

Indeed, your Lord will judge between them by His [wise] judgement. And He is the Exalted in Might, the Knowing.

  25. 27:79

Fatawakkal ʻalal laah: ʹinnaka ʻalal Ḥaq̣q̣il mubeen.

So rely upon Allāh; indeed, you are upon the clear truth.

  26. 27:80

ʹInnaka laa- tusmiʻul mawtaa wa-laa tusmiʻuṣ ṣummad duʻaaaʹa ʹiẓaa wallaw mudbireen.

Indeed, you will not make the dead hear, nor will you make the deaf hear the call when they have turned their backs retreating.

  27. 27:81

Wa-maaa ʹañta bihaadil ʻumyi ʻañ ḍalaalatihim: ʹiñ tusmiʻu ʹillaa mañy yuʹminu biʹAayaatinaa fahum Muslimoon.

And you cannot guide the blind away from their error. You will only make hear those who believe in Our verses so they are Muslims [i.e., submitting to Allāh].

  28. 27:82

Wa-ʹiẓaa waq̣aʻal Q̣awlu ʻalayhim ʹakhrajnaa lahum Daaabbatam minal ʹarḍi tukal-limuhum ʹannan naasa kaanoo biʹAayaatinaa laa- yooq̣inoon.

And when the word [i.e., decree] befalls them, We will bring forth for them a creature from the earth speaking to them, [saying] that the people were, of Our verses, not certain [in faith].

  29. 27:83

Wa-Yawma naḥshuru miñ kulli ʹummatiñ fawjam mimmañy yukaẓẓibu biʹAayaatinaa fahum yoozaʻoon,

And [warn of] the Day when We will gather from every nation a company of those who deny Our signs, and they will be [driven] in rows

  30. 27:84

Ḥattaaa ʹiẓaa jaaaʹoo q̣aala ʹakaẓẓabtum̃ biʹAayaatee wa-lam tuḥeeṭoo bihaa ʻilman ʹammaaẓaa kuñtum taʻmaloon?

Until, when they arrive [at the place of Judgement], He will say, "Did you deny My signs while you encompassed them not in knowledge, or what [was it that] you were doing?"

  31. 27:85

    Wa-waq̣aʻal Q̣awlu ʻalayhim̃ bimaa z̤̣alamoo fahum laa- yañṭiq̣oon.

And the decree will befall them for the wrong they did, and they will not [be able to] speak.

  32. 27:86

ʹAlam yaraw ʹannaa jaʻalnal Layla liyaskunoo feehi wan-Nahaara mubṣiraa? ʹInna fee ẓaalika laʹAayaatil liq̣awmiñy yuʹminoon!

Do they not see that We made the night that they may rest therein and the day giving sight? Indeed in that are signs for a people who believe.

  33. 27:87

Wa-Yawma yuñfakhu fiṣ Ṣoori fafaziʻa mañ fis samaawaati wa-mañ fil ʹarḍi ʹillaa mañ shaaaʹal laah: wa-kullun ʹatawhu daakhireen.

And [warn of] the Day the Horn will be blown, and whoever is in the heavens and whoever is on the earth will be terrified except whom Allāh wills. And all will come to Him humbled.

  34. 27:88

Wa-taral jibaala taḥsabuhaa jaamidatañw wahiya tamurru marras saḥaab: ṣunʻal laahil laẓeee ʹatq̣ana kulla shayʹ: innahoo khabeerum bimaa tafʻaloon.

And you see the mountains, thinking them motionless, while they will pass as the passing of clouds. [It is] the work of Allāh, who perfected all things. Indeed, He is Aware of that which you do.

  35. 27:89

Mañ jaaaʹa bil-ḥasanati falahoo khayrum minhaa; wa-hum miñ fazaʻiñy Yawmaʹiẓin ʹaaminoon.

Whoever comes [at Judgement] with a good deed will have better than it, and they, from the terror of that Day, will be safe.

  36. 27:90

Wa-mañ jaaaʹa bissayyiʹati fakubbat wujoohuhum fin Naar: hal tujzawna ʹillaa maa- kuñtum taʻmaloon?

And whoever comes with an evil deed - their faces will be overturned into the Fire, [and it will be said], "Are you recompensed except for what you used to do?"

  37. 27:91

ʹInnamaaa ʹumirtu ʹan ʹaʻbuda Rabba haaẓihil Baldatill aẓee ḥarramahaa wa-lahoo kullu shayʹiñw waʹumirtu ʹan ʹakoona minal Muslimeen,

[Say, O Muḥammad], "I have only been commanded to worship the Lord of this city, who made it sacred and to whom [belongs] all things. And I am commanded to be of the Muslims [i.e., those who submit to Allāh]

  38. 27:92

Wa-ʹan ʹatluwal Q̣ur-ʹaan: famanih tadaa faʹinnamaa yahtadee linafsih: wa-mañ ḍalla faq̣ul ʹinnamaaa ʹana minal muñẓireen.

And to recite the Qur’ān." And whoever is guided is only guided for [the benefit of] himself; and whoever strays - say, "I am only [one] of the warners."

  39. 27:93

Wa-q̣ulil Ḥamdu lillaahi sayureekum ʹAayaatihee fataʻrifoonahaa; wa-maa Rabbuka big̣aafilin ʻamaa taʻmaloon.

And say, "[All] praise is [due] to Allāh. He will show you His signs, and you will recognize them. And your Lord is not unaware of what you do."

  40. Surah Al-QasasBegins here at 28:1

  41. 28:1

    Ṭaa-seeen-Meeem.

    Ṭā, Seen, Meem.

  42. 28:2

    Tilka ʹAayaatul Kitaabil mubeen.

These are verses of the clear Book.

  43. 28:3

Natloo ʻalayka min nabaʹi Moosaa wa-Firʻawna bil-Ḥaq̣q̣i liq̣awmiñy yuʹminoon.

We recite to you from the news of Moses and Pharaoh in truth for a people who believe.

  44. 28:4

ʹInna firʻawna ʻalaa fil ʹarḍi wa-jaʻala ʹahlahaa shiyaʻañy yastaḍʻifu ṭaaaʹifatam minhum yuẓabbiḥu ʹabnaaaʹahum wa-yastaḥyee nisaaaʹahum: ʹinnahoo kaana minal mufsideen.

Indeed, Pharaoh exalted himself in the land and made its people into factions, oppressing a sector among them, slaughtering their [newborn] sons and keeping their females alive. Indeed, he was of the corrupters.

  45. 28:5

Wa-nureedu ʹan namunna ʻalal laẓeenas tuḍʻifoo fil ʹarḍi wa-najʻalahum ʹaʹimmatañw Wanajʻalahumul waaris̤een,

And We wanted to confer favor upon those who were oppressed in the land and make them leaders and make them inheritors

  46. 28:6

Wa-numakkina lahum fil ʹarḍi wa-nuriya Firʻawna wa-Haamaana wa-junoodahumaa minhum maa kaanoo yaḥẓaroon.

And establish them in the land and show Pharaoh and [his minister] Hāmān and their soldiers through them that which they had feared.

  47. 28:7

Wa-ʹawḥaynaaa ʹilaaa ʹummi Moosaaa ʹan ʹarḍiʻeeh: faʹiẓaa khifti ʻalayhi faʹalq̣eehi fil yammi wa-laa takhaafee walaa taḥzanee: ʹinnaa raaaddoohu ʹilayki wa-jaaʻiloohu milnal mursaleen.

And We inspired to the mother of Moses, "Suckle him; but when you fear for him, cast him into the river and do not fear and do not grieve. Indeed, We will return him to you and will make him [one] of the messengers."

  48. 28:8

Faltaq̣aṭahooo ʹaalu Firʻawna liyakoona lahum ʻaduwwañw Waḥazanaa: ʹInna Firʻawna wa-Haamaana wa-junooda-humaa kaanoo khaaṭiʹeen.

And the family of Pharaoh picked him up [out of the river] so that he would become to them an enemy and a [cause of] grief. Indeed, Pharaoh and Hāmān and their soldiers were deliberate sinners.

  49. 28:9

Wa-q̣aalatim raʹatu Firʻawna q̣urratu ʻaynil lee wa-lak: laa- taq̣tuloohu ʻasaaa ʹañy yañfaʻanaaa ʹaw nattakhiẓahoo waladañw wahum laa- yashʻuroon!

And the wife of Pharaoh said, "[He will be] a comfort of the eye [i.e., pleasure] for me and for you. Do not kill him; perhaps he may benefit us, or we may adopt him as a son." And they perceived not.

  50. 28:10

Wa-ʹaṣbaḥa fuʹaadu ʹummi Moosaa faarig̣aa: ʹiñ kaadat latubdee bihee law laaa ʹarrabaṭnaa ʻalaa q̣albihaa litakoona minal Muʹmineen.

And the heart of Moses' mother became empty [of all else]. She was about to disclose [the matter concerning] him had We not bound fast her heart that she would be of the believers.

  51. 28:11

Wa-q̣aalat liʹukhtihee q̣uṣṣeeh. Fabaṣurat bihee ʻañ junubiñw wahum laa- yashʻuroon.

And she said to his sister, "Follow him"; so she watched him from a distance while they perceived not.

  52. 28:12

wa-ḥarramnaa ʻalayhil maraaḍiʻa miñ q̣ablu faq̣aalat hal ʹadullukum ʻalaaa ʹahli baytiñy yakfuloonahoo lakum wa-hum lahoo naaṣiḥoon?...

And We had prevented from him [all] wet nurses before, so she said, "Shall I direct you to a household that will be responsible for him for you while they are to him [for his upbringing] sincere?"

  53. 28:13

Faradadnaahu ʹilaaa ʹummihee kay taq̣arra ʻaynuhaa wa-laa taḥzana wa-litaʻlama ʹanna waʻdal laahi ḥaq̣q̣uñw walaakinna ʹaks̤arahum laa- yaʻlamoon.

So We restored him to his mother that she might be content and not grieve and that she would know that the promise of Allāh is true. But most of them [i.e., the people] do not know.

  54. 28:14

Wa-lammaa balag̣a ʹashuddahoo wastawaaa ʹaataynaahu ḥukmañw waʻilmaa: wa-kaẓaalika najzil Muḥsineen.

And when he attained his full strength and was [mentally] mature, We bestowed upon him judgement and knowledge. And thus do We reward the doers of good.

  55. 28:15

Wa-dakhalal Madeenata ʻalaa ḥeeni g̣aflatim min ʹahlihaa fawajada feeha rajulayni yaq̣tatilaani haaẓaa miñ sheeʻatihee wa-haaẓaa min ʻaduwwih. Fastag̣aas̤ahul laẓee miñ sheeʻatihee ʻalal laẓee min ʻaduwwihee fawakazahoo Moosaa faq̣aḍaa ʻalayh. Q̣aala haaẓaa min ʻamalish shayṭaan: ʹinnahoo ʻaduwwum muḍillum mubeen!

And he entered the city at a time of inattention by its people and found therein two men fighting: one from his faction and one from among his enemy. And the one from his faction called for help to him against the one from his enemy, so Moses struck him and [unintentionally] killed him. [Moses] said, "This is from the work of Satan. Indeed, he is a manifest, misleading enemy."

  56. 28:16

Q̣aala Rabbi ʹinnee z̤̣alamtu nafsee fag̣fir lee fag̣afara lah: innahoo Huwal G̣afoorur Raḥeem.

He said, "My Lord, indeed I have wronged myself, so forgive me," and He forgave him. Indeed, He is the Forgiving, the Merciful.

  57. 28:17

Q̣aala Rabbi bimaaa ʹanʻamta ʻalayya falan ʹakoona z̤̣aheeral lilmujrimeen.

He said, "My Lord, for the favor You bestowed upon me, I will never be an assistant to the criminals."

  58. 28:18

Faʹaṣbaḥa fil Madeenati khaaaʹifañy yataraq̣q̣abu faʹiẓal laẓis tañṣarahoo bil-ʹamsi yastaṣrikhuh. Q̣aala lahoo Moosaaa ʹinnaka lag̣awiyyum mubeen!

And he became inside the city fearful and anticipating [exposure], when suddenly the one who sought his help the previous day cried out to him [once again]. Moses said to him, "Indeed, you are an evident, [persistent] deviator."

  59. 28:19

Falammaaa ʹan ʹaraada ʹañy yabṭisha billaẓee huwa ʻaduwwul lahumaa q̣aala yaa-Moosaaa ʹatureedu ʹañ taq̣tulanee kamaa q̣atalta nafsam bil-ʹams? ʹIñ tureedu ʹillaaa ʹañ takoona jabbaarañ fil ʹarḍi wa-maa tureedu ʹañ takoona minal Muṣliḥeen!

And when he wanted to strike the one who was an enemy to both of them, he said, "O Moses, do you intend to kill me as you killed someone yesterday? You only want to be a tyrant in the land and do not want to be of the amenders."

  60. 28:20

Wa-jaaaʹa rajulum min ʹaq̣ṣal Madeenati yasʻaa. Q̣aala yaa-Moosaaa ʹinnal malaʹa yaʹ-tamiroona bika liyaq̣tulooka fakhruj ʹinnee laka minan naaṣiḥeen.

And a man came from the farthest end of the city, running. He said, "O Moses, indeed the eminent ones are conferring over you [intending] to kill you, so leave [the city]; indeed, I am to you of the sincere advisors."

  61. 28:21

Fakharaja minhaa khaaaʹifañy yataraq̣q̣ab: Q̣aala Rabbi najjinee minal q̣awmiz̤̣ z̤̣aalimeen.

So he left it, fearful and anticipating [apprehension]. He said, "My Lord, save me from the wrongdoing people."

  62. 28:22

Wa-lammaa tawajjaha tilq̣aaaʹa Madyana q̣aala ʻasaa Rabbeee ʹañy yahdiyanee sawaaaʹas sabeel.

And when he directed himself toward Madyan, he said, "Perhaps my Lord will guide me to the sound way."

  63. 28:23

Wa-lammaa warada maaaʹa Madyana wajada ʻalayhi ʹummatam minan naasi yasq̣oona wa-wajada miñ doonihimum raʹatayni taẓoodaan. Q̣aala maa- khaṭbukumaa? Q̣aalataa laa- nasq̣ee ḥattaa yuṣdirar riʻaaaʹu wa-ʹaboonaa shaykhuñ kabeer.

And when he came to the water [i.e., well] of Madyan, he found there a crowd of people watering [their flocks], and he found aside from them two women holding back [their flocks]. He said, "What is your circumstance?" They said, "We do not water until the shepherds dispatch [their flocks]; and our father is an old man."

  64. 28:24

Fasaq̣aa lahumaa s̤umma tawallaaa ʹilaz̤̣ z̤̣illi faq̣aala Rabbi ʹinnee limaaa añzalta ʹilayya min khayriñ faq̣eer!..

So he watered [their flocks] for them; then he went back to the shade and said, "My Lord, indeed I am, for whatever good You would send down to me, in need."

  65. 28:25

Fajaaaʹathu ʹiḥdaahumaa tamshee ʻalas tiḥyaaaʹ, Q̣aalat ʹinna ʹabee yadʻooka liyajziyaka ʹajra maa- saq̣ayta lanaa. Falammaa jaaaʹahoo wa-q̣aṣṣa ʻalayhil q̣aṣaṣa q̣aala laa- takhaf: najawta minal q̣awmiz̤̣ z̤̣aalimeen.

Then one of the two women came to him walking with shyness. She said, "Indeed, my father invites you that he may reward you for having watered for us." So when he came to him and related to him the story, he said, "Fear not. You have escaped from the wrongdoing people."

  66. 28:26

Q̣aalat ʹiḥdaahumaa yaaaʹabatis taʹjirh; ʹinna khayra manis taʹjartal q̣awiyyul ʹameen.

One of the women said, "O my father, hire him. Indeed, the best one you can hire is the strong and the trustworthy."

  67. 28:27

Q̣aala ʹinneee ʹureedu ʹan ʹuñkiḥaka ʹiḥdab natayya haatayni ʻalaaa ʹañ taʹjuranee s̤amaaniya ḥijaj; faʹin ʹatmamta ʻashrañ famin ʻiñdik. Wa-maaa ʹureedu ʹan ʹashuq̣q̣a ʻalayk: satajiduneee ʹiñ shaaaʹal laahu minaṣ Ṣaaliḥeen.

He said, "Indeed, I wish to wed you one of these, my two daughters, on [the condition] that you serve me for eight years; but if you complete ten, it will be [as a favor] from you. And I do not wish to put you in difficulty. You will find me, if Allāh wills, from among the righteous."

  68. 28:28

Q̣aala ẓaalika baynee wa-baynak: ʹayyamal ʹajalayni q̣aḍaytu falaa ʻudwaana ʻalayy. Wallaahu ʻalaa maa- naq̣oolu Wakeel.

[Moses] said, "That is [established] between me and you. Whichever of the two terms I complete - there is no injustice to me, and Allāh, over what we say, is Witness."

  69. 28:29

Falammaa q̣aḍaa Moosal ʹajala wa-saara biʹahliheee ʹaanasa miñ jaanibiṭ Ṭoori naaraa. Q̣aala liʹahlihim kus̤ooo ʹinneee ʹaanastu naaral laʻalleee ʹaateekum minhaa bikhabarin ʹaw jaẓwatim minan naari laʻallakum taṣṭaloon.

And when Moses had completed the term and was traveling with his family, he perceived from the direction of the mount a fire. He said to his family, "Stay here; indeed, I have perceived a fire. Perhaps I will bring you from there [some] information or burning wood from the fire that you may warm yourselves."

  70. 28:30

But when he came to it, he was called from the right side of the valley in a blessed spot - from the tree, "O Moses, indeed I am Allāh, Lord of the worlds."

  71. 28:31

Wa-ʹan ʹalq̣i ʻaṣaak! Falammaa raʹaahaa tahtazzu kaʹannahaa jaaannuñw wallaa mudbirañw walam yuʻaq̣q̣ib: Yaa-Moosaaa ʹaq̣bil wa-laa takhaf: ʹinnaka minal ʹaamineen.

And [he was told], "Throw down your staff." But when he saw it writhing as if it was a snake, he turned in flight and did not return. [Allāh said], "O Moses, approach and fear not. Indeed, you are of the secure.

  72. 28:32

ʹUsluk yadaka fee jaybika takhruj bayḍaaaʹa min g̣ayri soooʹ: waḍmum ʹilayka janaaḥaka minar rahbi fazaanika burhaanaani mir Rabbika ʹilaa Firʻawna wa-malaʹih: ʹinnahum kaanoo q̣awmañ faasiq̣een.

Insert your hand into the opening of your garment; it will come out white, without disease. And draw in your arm close to you [as prevention] from fear, for those are two proofs from your Lord to Pharaoh and his establishment. Indeed, they have been a people defiantly disobedient."

  73. 28:33

Q̣aala Rabbi ʹinnee q̣ataltu minhum nafsañ faʹakhaafu ʹañy yaq̣tuloon.

He said, "My Lord, indeed I killed from among them someone, and I fear they will kill me.

  74. 28:34

And my brother Aaron is more fluent than me in tongue, so send him with me as support, verifying me. Indeed, I fear that they will deny me."

  75. 28:35

Q̣aala sanashuddu ʻaḍudaka biʹakheeka wa-najʻalu lakumaa sulṭaanañ falaa yaṣiloona ʹilaykumaa: biʹAayaatinaaa ʹañtumaa wa-manit tabaʻakumal g̣aaliboon.

[Allāh] said, "We will strengthen your arm through your brother and grant you both supremacy so they will not reach you. [It will be] through Our signs; you and those who follow you will be the predominant."

  76. 28:36

But when Moses came to them with Our signs as clear evidences, they said, "This is not except invented magic, and we have not heard of this [religion] among our forefathers."

  77. 28:37

Wa-q̣aala Moosaa Rabbeee ʹaʻlamu bimañ jaaaʹa bil-Hudaa min ʻiñdihee wa-mañ takoonu lahoo ʻAaq̣ibatud daar: ʹinnahoo laa- yufliḥuz̤̣ z̤̣aalimoon.

And Moses said, "My Lord is more knowing [than we or you] of who has come with guidance from Him and to whom will be succession in the home. Indeed, wrongdoers do not succeed."

  78. 28:38

Wa-q̣aala Firʻawnu yaaaʹayyuhal malaʹu maa- ʻalimtu lakum min ʹilaahin g̣ayree: faʹawq̣id lee yaa-Haamaanu ʻalaṭ ṭeeni fajʻal lee ṣarḥal laʻalleee ʹaṭṭaliʻu ʹilaaa ʹilaahi Moosaa wa-ʹinnee laʹaz̤̣unnuhoo minal kaaẓibeen!

And Pharaoh said, "O eminent ones, I have not known you to have a god other than me. Then ignite for me, O Hāmān, [a fire] upon the clay and make for me a tower that I may look at the God of Moses. And indeed, I do think he is among the liars."

  79. 28:39

Wastakbara huwa wa-junooduhoo fil ʹarḍi big̣ayril ḥaq̣q̣i waz̤̣annooo ʹannahum ʹilaynaa laa- yurjaʻoon!

And he was arrogant, he and his soldiers, in the land, without right, and they thought that they would not be returned to Us.

  80. 28:40

Faʹakhaẓnaahu wa-junoo-dahoo fanabaẓnaahum fil yamm: fañz̤̣ur kayfa kaana ʻAaq̣ibatuz̤̣ z̤̣aalimeen!

So We took him and his soldiers and threw them into the sea. So see how was the end of the wrongdoers.

  81. 28:41

Wa-jaʻalnaahum ʹaʹimmatañy yadʻoona ʹilan Naar; Wa-Yawmal Q̣iyaamati laa- yuñṣaroon.

And We made them leaders inviting to the Fire, and on the Day of Resurrection they will not be helped.

  82. 28:42

Wa-ʹatbaʻnaahum fee haaẓihid dunyaa Laʻnah; wa-Yawmal Q̣iyaamati hum minal maq̣booḥeen.

And We caused to overtake them in this world a curse, and on the Day of Resurrection they will be of the despised.

  83. 28:43

Wa-laq̣ad ʹaataynaa Moosal Kitaaba mim baʻdi maaa ʹahlaknal q̣uroonal ʹoolaa Baṣaaaʹira linnaasi wa-Hudañw wa-Raḥmatal laʻallahum yataẓakkaroon.

And We gave Moses the Scripture, after We had destroyed the former generations, as enlightenment for the people and guidance and mercy that they might be reminded.

  84. 28:44

Wa-maa kuñta bijaanibil G̣arbiyyi ʹiẓ q̣aḍaynaaa ʹilaa Moosal ʹAmra wa-maa kuñta minash shaahideen.

And you, [O Muḥammad], were not on the western side [of the mount] when We revealed to Moses the command, and you were not among the witnesses [to that].

  85. 28:45

Wa-laakinnaaa ʹañshaʹnaa q̣uroonañ fataṭaawala ʻalayhimul ʻumur; wa-maa kuñta s̤aawiyañ feee ʹahli Madyana tatloo ʻalayhim ʹAayaatinaa wa-laakinnaa kunnaa mursileen.

But We produced [many] generations [after Moses], and prolonged was their duration. And you were not a resident among the people of Madyan, reciting to them Our verses, but We were senders [of this message].

  86. 28:46

Wa-maa kuñta bijaanibiṭ Ṭoori ʹiẓ naadaynaa wa-laakir Raḥmatam mir Rabbika lituñẓira q̣awmam maaa ʹataahum min naẓeerim miñ q̣ablika laʻallahum yataẓakkaroon.

And you were not at the side of the mount when We called [Moses] but [were sent] as a mercy from your Lord to warn a people to whom no warner had come before you that they might be reminded.

  87. 28:47

Wa-lawlaaa ʹañ tuṣeebahum muṣeebatum bimaa q̣addamat ʹaydeehim fayaq̣ooloo Rabbanaa Law-laaa ʹarsalta ʹilaynaa rasoolañ fanattabiʻa ʹAayaatika wa-nakoona minal Muʹmineen!

And if not that a disaster should strike them for what their hands put forth [of sins] and they would say, "Our Lord, why did You not send us a messenger so we could have followed Your verses and been among the believers?"...

  88. 28:48

Falammaa jaaaʹahumul Ḥaq̣q̣u min ʻiñdinaa q̣aaloo law-laaa ʹootiya mis̤la maaa ʹootiya Moosaa? ʹAwalam yakfuroo bimaaa ʹootiya Moosaa miñ q̣abl? Q̣aaloo siḥraani taz̤̣aaharaa! Wa-q̣aalooo ʹinnaa bikulliñ kaafiroon!

But when the truth came to them from Us, they said, "Why was he not given like that which was given to Moses?" Did they not disbelieve in that which was given to Moses before? They said, "[They are but] two works of magic supporting each other, and indeed we are, in both, disbelievers."

  89. 28:49

Q̣ul faʹtoo bi-Kitaabim min ʻiñdil laahi huwa ʹahdaa minhumaaa ʹattabiʻhu ʹiñ kuñtum ṣaadiq̣een!

Say, "Then bring a scripture from Allāh which is more guiding than either of them that I may follow it, if you should be truthful."

  90. 28:50

Faʹil lam yastajeeboo laka faʻlam ʹannamaa yattabiʻoona ʹahwaaaʹahum: wa-man ʹaḍallu mimmanit tabaʻa hawaahu big̣ayri hudam minal laah? ʹInnal laaha laa- yahdil q̣awmaz̤̣ z̤̣aalimeen.

But if they do not respond to you - then know that they only follow their [own] desires. And who is more astray than one who follows his desire without guidance from Allāh? Indeed, Allāh does not guide the wrongdoing people.

  91. 28:51

And We have [repeatedly] conveyed to them the word [i.e., the Qur’ān] that they might be reminded.

  92. 28:52

    ٱلَّذِينَ ءَاتَيْنَـٰهُمُ ٱلْكِتَـٰبَ مِن قَبْلِهِۦ هُم بِهِۦ يُؤْمِنُونَ

    ʹAllaẓeena ʹaataynaahumul Kitaaba miñ q̣ablihee hum̃ bihee yuʹminoon;

Those to whom We gave the Scripture before it - they are believers in it.

  93. 28:53

Wa-ʹiẓaa yutlaa ʻalayhim q̣aalooo ʹaamannaa biheee ʹinnahul Ḥaq̣q̣u mir Rabbinaaa ʹinnaa kunnaa miñ q̣ablihee Muslimeen.

And when it is recited to them, they say, "We have believed in it; indeed, it is the truth from our Lord. Indeed we were, [even] before it, Muslims [i.e., submitting to Allāh]."

  94. 28:54

    ʹUlaaaʹika yuʹtawna ʹajrahum marratayni bimaa ṣabaroo wa-yadraʹoona bil-ḥasanatis sayyiʹata wa-mimmaa razaq̣naahum yuñfiq̣oon.

Those will be given their reward twice for what they patiently endured and [because] they avert evil through good, and from what We have provided them they spend.

  95. 28:55

Wa-ʹiẓaa samiʻul lag̣wa ʹaʻraḍoo ʻanhu wa-q̣aaloo lanaaa ʹaʻmaalunaa wa-lakum ʹaʻmaalukum; Salaamun ʻalaykum: laa- nabtag̣il jaahileen.

And when they hear ill speech, they turn away from it and say, "For us are our deeds, and for you are your deeds. Peace will be upon you; we seek not the ignorant."

  96. 28:56

ʹInnaka laa- tahdee man ʹaḥbabta wa-laakinnal laaha yahdee mañy yashaaaʹ: wa-Huwa ʹaʻlamu bil-muhtadeen.

Indeed, [O Muḥammad], you do not guide whom you like, but Allāh guides whom He wills. And He is most knowing of the [rightly] guided.

  97. 28:57

ʹAwalam numakkil lahum Ḥaraman ʹaaminañy yujbaaa ʹilayhi s̤amaraatu kulli shayʹir rizq̣am mil ladunnaa wa-laakinna ʹaks̤arahum laa- yaʻlamoon.

And they [i.e., the Quraysh] say, "If we were to follow the guidance with you, we would be swept from our land." Have We not established for them a safe sanctuary to which are brought the fruits of all things as provision from Us? But most of them do not know.

  98. 28:58

Wa-kam ʹahlaknaa miñ q̣aryatim baṭirat maʻeeshatahaa! Fatilka masaakinuhum lam tuskam mim baʻdihim ʹillaa q̣aleelaa! Wa-kunnaa Naḥnul waaris̤een!

And how many a city have We destroyed that was insolent in its [way of] living, and those are their dwellings which have not been inhabited after them except briefly. And it is We who were the inheritors.

  99. 28:59

Wa-maa kaana Rabbuka muhlikal q̣uraa ḥattaa yabʻas̤a feee ʹummihaa rasoolañy yatloo ʻalayhim ʹAayaatinaa; wa-maa kunnaa muhlikil q̣uraaa ʹillaa wa-ʹahluhaa z̤̣aalimoon.

And never would your Lord have destroyed the cities until He had sent to their mother [i.e., principal city] a messenger reciting to them Our verses. And We would not destroy the cities except while their people were wrongdoers.

  100. 28:60

Wa-maaa ʹooteetum miñ shayʹiñ famataaʻul ḥayaatid dunyaa wa-zeenatuhaa; wa-maa ʻiñdal laahi khayruñw waʹabq̣aa: ʹafalaa taʻq̣iloon?

And whatever thing you [people] have been given - it is [only for] the enjoyment of worldly life and its adornment. And what is with Allāh is better and more lasting; so will you not use reason?

  101. 28:61

ʹAfamañw waʻadnaahu waʻdan ḥasanañ fahuwa laaq̣eehi kamam mattaʻnaahu mataaʻal ḥayaatid dunyaa s̤umma huwa Yawmal Q̣iyaamati minal muḥḍareen?

Then is he whom We have promised a good promise which he will meet [i.e., obtain] like he for whom We provided enjoyment of worldly life [but] then he is, on the Day of Resurrection, among those presented [for punishment in Hell]?

  102. 28:62

Wa-Yawma yunaadeehim fayaq̣oolu ʹayna shurakaaaʹiyal laẓeena kuñtum tazʻumoon?

And [warn of] the Day He will call them and say, "Where are My 'partners' which you used to claim?"

  103. 28:63

Q̣aalal laẓeena ḥaq̣q̣a ʻalayhimul q̣awlu Rabbanaa haaaʹulaaaʹil laẓeena ʹag̣waynaa: ʹag̣waynaahum kamaa g̣awaynaa: tabarraʹnaaa ʹilayka maa- kaanooo ʹiyyaanaa yaʻbudoon.

Those upon whom the word will have come into effect will say, "Our Lord, these are the ones we led to error. We led them to error just as we were in error. We declare our disassociation [from them] to You. They did not used to worship [i.e., obey] us."

  104. 28:64

Wa-q̣eelad ʻoo shurakaaaʹakum fadaʻawhum falam yastajeeboo lahum wa-raʹawul ʻaẓaaba law ʹannahum kaanoo yahtadoon!

And it will be said, "Invoke your 'partners,'" and they will invoke them; but they will not respond to them, and they will see the punishment. If only they had followed guidance!

  105. 28:65

    Wa-Yawma yunaadeehim fayaq̣oolu maa-ẓaaa ʹajabtumul mursaleen?

And [mention] the Day He will call them and say, "What did you answer the messengers?"

  106. 28:66

Faʻamiyat ʻalayhimul ʹambaaaʹu Yawmaʹiẓiñ fahum laa- yatasaaaʹaloon!

But the information will be unapparent to them that Day, so they will not [be able to] ask one another.

  107. 28:67

Faʹammaa mañ taaba wa-ʹaamana wa-ʻamila ṣaaliḥañ faʻasaaa ʹañy yakoona minal Mufliḥeen.

But as for one who had repented, believed, and done righteousness, it is expected [i.e., promised by Allāh] that he will be among the successful.

  108. 28:68

Wa-Rabbuka yakhluq̣u maa- yashaaaʹu wayakhtaar: maa- kaana lahumul khiyarah: Subḥaanal laahi wa-taʻaalaa ʻammaa yushrikoon!

And your Lord creates what He wills and chooses; not for them was the choice. Exalted is Allāh and high above what they associate with Him.

  109. 28:69

Wa-Rabbuka yaʻlamu maa- tukinnu ṣudooruhum wa-maa yuʻlinoon.

And your Lord knows what their breasts conceal and what they declare.

  110. 28:70

Wa-Huwal laahu laaa ʹilaaha ʹillaa Hoo. Lahul Ḥamdu fil ʹoolaa wal-ʹaakhirah: wa-lahul Ḥukmu wa-ʹilayhi turjaʻoon.

And He is Allāh; there is no deity except Him. To Him is [due all] praise in the first [life] and the Hereafter. And His is the [final] decision, and to Him you will be returned.

  111. 28:71

Q̣ul ʹaraʹaytum ʹiñ jaʻalal laahu ʻalaykumul Layla sarmadan ʹilaa Yawmil Q̣iyaamati man ʹilaahun g̣ayrul laahi yaʹ-teekum̃ biḍiyaaaʹ? ʹAfalaa tasmaʻoon?

Say, "Have you considered: if Allāh should make for you the night continuous until the Day of Resurrection, what deity other than Allāh could bring you light? Then will you not hear?"

  112. 28:72

Q̣ul ʹaraʹaytum ʹiñ jaʻalal laahu ʻalaykumun Nahaara sarmadan ʹilaa Yawmil Q̣iyaamati man ʹilaahun g̣ayrul laahi yaʹteekum̃ bi-Layliñ taskunoona feeh? ʹAfalaa tubṣiroon?

Say, "Have you considered: if Allāh should make for you the day continuous until the Day of Resurrection, what deity other than Allāh could bring you a night in which you may rest? Then will you not see?"

  113. 28:73

Wa-mir Raḥmatihee jaʻala lakumul Layla wan-Nahaara litaskunoo feehi wa-litabtag̣oo miñ Faḍlihee wa-laʻallakum tashkuroon.

And out of His mercy He made for you the night and the day that you may rest therein and [by day] seek from His bounty and [that] perhaps you will be grateful.

  114. 28:74

Wa-Yawma yunaadeehim fayaq̣oolu ʹayna shurakaaaʹiyal laẓeena kuñtum tazʻumoon?

And [warn of] the Day He will call them and say, "Where are My 'partners' which you used to claim?"

  115. 28:75

Wa-nazaʻnaa miñ kulli ʹummatiñ shaheedañ faq̣ulnaa haatoo burhaanakum faʻalimooo ʹannal Ḥaq̣q̣a lillaahi wa-ḍalla ʻanhum maa kaanoo yaftaroon.

And We will extract from every nation a witness and say, "Produce your proof," and they will know that the truth belongs to Allāh, and lost from them is that which they used to invent.

  116. 28:76

ʹInna Q̣aaroona kaana miñ q̣awmi Moosaa fabag̣aa ʻalayhim: wa-ʹaataynaahu minal kunoozi maaa ʹinna mafaatiḥahoo latanoooʹu bilʻuṣbati ʹulil q̣uwwah. ʹIẓ q̣aala lahoo q̣awmuhoo laa- tafraḥ ʹinnal laah laa- yuḥibbul fariḥeen.

Indeed, Qārūn was from the people of Moses, but he tyrannized them. And We gave him of treasures whose keys would burden a band of strong men; thereupon his people said to him, "Do not exult. Indeed, Allāh does not like the exultant.

  117. 28:77

Wabtag̣i feemaaa ʹaataakal laahud Daaral ʹAakhirata wa-laa tañsa naṣeebaka minad dunyaa wa-ʹaḥsin kamaaa ʹaḥsanal laahu ʹilayka wa-laa tabg̣il fasaada fil ʹarḍ: ʹinnal laaha laa- yuḥibbul mufsideen.

But seek, through that which Allāh has given you, the home of the Hereafter; and [yet], do not forget your share of the world. And do good as Allāh has done good to you. And desire not corruption in the land. Indeed, Allāh does not like corrupters."

  118. 28:78

Q̣aala ʹinnamaaa ʹooteetuhoo ʻalaa ʻilmin ʻiñdee. ʹAwalam yaʻlam ʹannal laaha q̣ad ʹahlaka miñ q̣ablihee minal q̣urooni man huwa ʹashaddu minhu q̣uwwatañw waʹaks̤aru jamʻaa? Wa-laa yusʹalu ʻañ ẓunoobihimul mujrimoon.

He said, "I was only given it because of knowledge I have." Did he not know that Allāh had destroyed before him of generations those who were greater than him in power and greater in accumulation [of wealth]? But the criminals, about their sins, will not be asked.

  119. 28:79

Fakharaja ʻalaa q̣awmihee fee zeenatih. Q̣aalal laẓeena yureedoonal Ḥayaatad Dunyaa yaalayta lanaa miṣla maaa ʹootiya Q̣aaroonu ʹinnahoo ḥaz̤̣z̤̣in laẓoo ʻaz̤̣eem!

So he came out before his people in his adornment. Those who desired the worldly life said, "Oh, would that we had like what was given to Qārūn. Indeed, he is one of great fortune."

  120. 28:80

Wa-q̣aalal laẓeena ʹootul ʻilma waylakum s̤awaabul laahi khayrul liman ʹaamana wa-ʻamila ṣaaliḥaa: wa-laa yulaq̣q̣aahaaa ʹillaṣ Ṣaabiroon.

But those who had been given knowledge said, "Woe to you! The reward of Allāh is better for he who believes and does righteousness. And none are granted it except the patient."

  121. 28:81

Fakhasafnaa bihee wa-bidaarihil ʹarḍ; famaa kaana lahoo miñ fiʹatiñy yañṣuroonahoo miñ doonil laahi wa-maa kaana minal muñtaṣireen.

And We caused the earth to swallow him and his home. And there was for him no company to aid him other than Allāh, nor was he of those who [could] defend themselves.

  122. 28:82

Wa-ʹaṣbaḥal laẓeena tamannaw makaanahoo bil-ʹamsi yaq̣ooloona waykaʹannal laaha yabsuṭur rizq̣a limañy yashaaaʹu min ʻibaadihee wa-yaq̣dir! Law-laaa ʹam mannal laahu ʻalaynaa lakhasafa binaa! Waykaʹannahoo laa- yufliḥul kaafiroon!

And those who had wished for his position the previous day began to say, "Oh, how Allāh extends provision to whom He wills of His servants and restricts it! If not that Allāh had conferred favor on us, He would have caused it to swallow us. Oh, how the disbelievers do not succeed!"

  123. 28:83

Tilkad Daarul ʹAakhiratu najʻaluhaa lillaẓeena laa- yureedoona ʻuluwwañ fil ʹarḍi wa-laa fasaadaa: wal-ʻaaq̣ibatu lil-Muttaq̣een.

That home of the Hereafter We assign to those who do not desire exaltedness upon the earth or corruption. And the [best] outcome is for the righteous.

  124. 28:84

Mañ jaaaʹa bilḥasanati falahoo khayrum minhaa; wa-mañ jaaaʹa bissayyiʹati falaa yujzal laẓeena ʻamilus sayyiʹaati ʹillaa maa- kaanoo yaʻmaloon.

Whoever comes [on the Day of Judgement] with a good deed will have better than it; and whoever comes with an evil deed - then those who did evil deeds will not be recompensed except [as much as] what they used to do.

  125. 28:85

ʹInnal laẓee faraḍa ʻalaykal Q̣ur-ʹaana laraaadduka ʹilaa Maʻaad. Q̣ur Rabbeee ʹaʻlamu mañ jaaaʹa bil-hudaa wa-man huwa fee ḍalaalim mubeen.

Indeed, [O Muḥammad], He who imposed upon you the Qur’ān will take you back to a place of return. Say, "My Lord is most knowing of who brings guidance and who is in clear error."

  126. 28:86

Wa-maa kuñta tarjooo ʹañy yulq̣aaa ʹilaykal Kitaabu ʹillaa Raḥmatam mir Rabbika falaa takoonanna z̤̣aheeral lil-kaafireen.

And you were not expecting that the Book would be conveyed to you, but [it is] a mercy from your Lord. So do not be an assistant to the disbelievers.

  127. 28:87

Wa-laa yaṣuddunnaka ʻan ʹAayaatil laahi baʻda ʹiẓ ʹuñzilat ʹilayk: wadʻu ʹilaa Rabbika wa-laa takoonanna minal mushrikeen.

And never let them avert you from the verses of Allāh after they have been revealed to you. And invite [people] to your Lord. And never be of those who associate others with Allāh.

  128. 28:88

Laaa ʹilaaha ʹillaa Hoo. Kullu shayʹin haalikun ʹillaa Wajhah. Lahul Ḥukmu wa-ʹilayhi turjaʻoon.

And do not invoke with Allāh another deity. There is no deity except Him. Everything will be destroyed except His Face. His is the judgement, and to Him you will be returned.

  129. Surah Al-'AnkabutBegins here at 29:1

  130. 29:1

    ʹAlif-Laaam-Meeem.

    Alif, Lām, Meem.

  131. 29:2

ʹAḥasiban naasu ʹañy yutrakooo ʹañy yaq̣oolooo ʹaamannaa Wahum laa- yuftanoon?

Do the people think that they will be left to say, "We believe" and they will not be tried?

  132. 29:3

Wa-laq̣ad fatannal laẓeena miñ q̣ablihim falayaʻlamannal laahul laẓeena ṣadaq̣oo wa-la-yaʻlamannal kaaẓibeen.

But We have certainly tried those before them, and Allāh will surely make evident those who are truthful, and He will surely make evident the liars.

  133. 29:4

ʹAm ḥasibal laẓeena yaʻmaloonas sayyiʹaati ʹañy yasbiq̣oonaa? Saaaʹa maa- yaḥkumoon!

Or do those who do evil deeds think they can outrun [i.e., escape] Us? Evil is what they judge.

  134. 29:5

Mañ Kaana yarjoo liq̣aaa ʹallaahi faʹinna ʹAjalal laahi laʹaat; wa-Huwas Sameeʻul ʻAleem.

Whoever should hope for the meeting with Allāh - indeed, the term [decreed by] Allāh is coming. And He is the Hearing, the Knowing.

  135. 29:6

Wa-mañ jaahada faʹinnamaa yujaahidu linafsih; ʹinnal laaha la-G̣aniyyun ʻanil ʻaalameen.

And whoever strives only strives for [the benefit of] himself. Indeed, Allāh is Free from need of the worlds.

  136. 29:7

Wallaẓeena ʹaamanoo wa-ʻamiluṣ ṣaaliḥaati lanukaffiranna ʻanhum sayyiʹaatihim wa-lanajziyannahum ʹaḥsanal laẓee kaanoo yaʻmaloon.

And those who believe and do righteous deeds - We will surely remove from them their misdeeds and will surely reward them according to the best of what they used to do.

  137. 29:8

Wa-waṣṣaynal ʹiñsaana biwaalidayhi ḥusnaa: wa-ʹiñ jaahadaaka litushrika bee maa- laysa laka bihee ʻilmuñ falaa tuṭiʻhumaa. ʹIlayya marjiʻukum faʹunabbiʹukum̃ bimaa kuñtum taʻmaloon.

And We have enjoined upon man goodness to parents. But if they endeavor to make you associate with Me that of which you have no knowledge, do not obey them. To Me is your return, and I will inform you about what you used to do.

  138. 29:9

Wallaẓeena ʹaamanoo wa-ʻamiluṣ ṣaaliḥaati lanudkhilannahum fiṣ Ṣaaliḥeen.

And those who believe and do righteous deeds - We will surely admit them among the righteous [into Paradise].

  139. 29:10

ʹA-walaysal laahu biʹaʻlama bimaa fee ṣudooril ʻaalameen?

And of the people are some who say, "We believe in Allāh," but when one [of them] is harmed for [the cause of] Allāh, he considers the trial [i.e., harm] of the people as [if it were] the punishment of Allāh. But if victory comes from your Lord, they say, "Indeed, We were with you." Is not Allāh most knowing of what is within the breasts of the worlds [i.e., all creatures]?

  140. 29:11

    Wa-la-yaʻlamannal laahul laẓeena ʹaamanoo wa-la-yaʻlamannal Munaafiq̣een.

And Allāh will surely make evident those who believe, and He will surely make evident the hypocrites.

  141. 29:12

Wa-q̣aalal laẓeena kafaroo lillaẓeena ʹaamanut tabiʻoo sabeelanaa walnaḥmil khaṭaayaakum. Wa-maa hum̃ biḥaamileena min khaṭaayaahum miñ shayʹ; ʹinnahum lakaaẓiboon!

And those who disbelieve say to those who believe, "Follow our way, and we will carry your sins." But they will not carry anything of their sins. Indeed, they are liars.

  142. 29:13

    Wa-la-yaḥmilunna ʹas̤q̣aalahum wa-ʹas̤q̣aalam maʻa ʹas̤q̣aalihim, wa-la-yusʹalunna Yawmal Q̣iyaamati ʻammaa kaanoo yaftaroon.

But they will surely carry their [own] burdens and [other] burdens along with their burdens, and they will surely be questioned on the Day of Resurrection about what they used to invent.

  143. 29:14

Wa-laq̣ad ʹarsalnaa Nooḥan ʹilaa q̣awmihee falabis̤a feehim ʹalfa sanatin ʹillaa khamseena ʻaamaa; faʹakhaẓahumuṭ Ṭoofaanu wa-hum z̤̣aalimoon.

And We certainly sent Noah to his people, and he remained among them a thousand years minus fifty years, and the flood seized them while they were wrongdoers.

  144. 29:15

Faʹañjaynaahu wa-ʹAṣḥaabas Safeenati wa-jaʻalnaahaaa ʹAayatal lilʻAalameen!

But We saved him and the companions of the ship, and We made it a sign for the worlds.

  145. 29:16

Wa-ʹIbraaheema ʹiẓ q̣aala liq̣awmihiʻ budul laaha wattaq̣ooh. Ẓaalikum khayrul lakum ʹiñ kuñtum taʻlamoon!

And [We sent] Abraham, when he said to his people, "Worship Allāh and fear Him. That is best for you, if you should know.

  146. 29:17

ʹInnamaa taʻbudoona miñ doonil laahi ʹaws̤aanañwwa takhluq̣oona ʹifkaa. ʹInnal laẓeena taʻbudoona miñ doonil laahi laa- yamlikoona lakum rizq̣añ fabtag̣oo ʻiñdal laahir rizq̣a waʻbudoohu washkuroo lah. ʹIlayhi turjaʻoon.

You only worship, besides Allāh, idols, and you produce a falsehood. Indeed, those you worship besides Allāh do not possess for you [the power of] provision. So seek from Allāh provision and worship Him and be grateful to Him. To Him you will be returned."

  147. 29:18

Wa-ʹiñ tukaẓẓiboo faq̣ad kaẓẓaba ʹumamum miñ q̣ablikum. Wa-maa ʻalar rasooli ʹillal balaag̣ul mubeen.

And if you [people] deny [the message] - already nations before you have denied. And there is not upon the Messenger except [the duty of] clear notification.

  148. 29:19

ʹA-walam yaraw kayfa yubdiʹul laahul khalq̣a s̤umma yuʻeeduh? ʹInna ẓaalika ʻalal laahi yaseer.

Have they not considered how Allāh begins creation and then repeats it? Indeed that, for Allāh, is easy.

  149. 29:20

Q̣ul seeroo fil ʹarḍi fañz̤̣uroo kayfa badaʹal khalq̣a s̤ummal laahu yuñshiʹun nashʹatal ʹAakhirah: ʹInnal laaha ʻalaa kulli shayʹiñ Q̣adeer.

Say, [O Muḥammad], "Travel through the land and observe how He began creation. Then Allāh will produce the final creation [i.e., development]. Indeed Allāh, over all things, is competent."

  150. 29:21

Yuʻaẓẓibu mañy yashaaaʹu wa-yarḥamu mañy yashaaaʹ, wa-ʹilayhi tuq̣laboon.

He punishes whom He wills and has mercy upon whom He wills, and to Him you will be returned.

  151. 29:22

Wa-maaa ʹañtum̃ bimuʻjizeena fil ʹarḍi wa-laa fis samaaaʹi wa-maa lakum miñ doonil laahi miñw waliyyiñw walaa naṣeer.

And you will not cause failure [to Allāh] upon the earth or in the heaven. And you have not other than Allāh any protector or any helper.

  152. 29:23

Wallaẓeena kafaroo biʹAayaatil laahi wa-Liq̣aaaʹiheee ʹulaaaʹika yaʹisoo mir raḥmatee wa-ʹulaaaʹika lahum ʻAẓaabun ʹaleem.

And the ones who disbelieve in the signs of Allāh and the meeting with Him - those have despaired of My mercy, and they will have a painful punishment.

  153. 29:24

Famaa kaana jawaaba q̣awmiheee ʹillaaa ʹañ q̣aaluq̣ tuloohu ʹaw ḥarriq̣oohu faʹañjaahul laahu minan Naar. ʹInna fee ẓaalika laʹAayaatil liq̣awmiñy yuʹminoon.

And the answer of his [i.e., Abraham's] people was not but that they said, "Kill him or burn him," but Allāh saved him from the fire. Indeed in that are signs for a people who believe.

  154. 29:25

Wa-q̣aala ʹinnamat takhaẓtum miñ doonil laahi ʹaws̤aanam mawaddata baynikum fil ḥayaatid dunyaa; s̤umma yawmal Q̣iyaamati yakfuru baʻḍukum̃ bibaʻḍiñw wayalʻanu baʻḍukum̃ baʻḍaa; wa-maʹwaakumun Naaru wa-maa lakum min naaṣireen.

And [Abraham] said, "You have only taken, other than Allāh, idols as [a bond of] affection among you in worldly life. Then on the Day of Resurrection you will deny one another and curse one another, and your refuge will be the Fire, and you will not have any helpers."

  155. 29:26

Faʹaamana lahoo Looṭ. Wa-q̣aala ʹinnee muhaajirun ʹilaa Rabbee; ʹinnahoo Huwal ʻAzeezul Ḥakeem.

And Lot believed him. [Abraham] said, "Indeed, I will emigrate to [the service of] my Lord. Indeed, He is the Exalted in Might, the Wise."

  156. 29:27

Wa-wahabnaa lahooo ʹIs-ḥaaq̣a wa-Yaʻq̣ooba wa-jaʻalnaa fee ẓurriyyatihin Nubuwwata wal-Kitaaba wa-ʹaataynaahu ʹajrahoo fid dunyaa; wa-ʹinnahoo fil ʹAakhirati laminaṣ Ṣaaliḥeen:

And We gave to him Isaac and Jacob and placed in his descendants prophethood and scripture. And We gave him his reward in this world, and indeed, he is in the Hereafter among the righteous.

  157. 29:28

Wa-Looṭan ʹiẓ q̣aala liq̣awmiheee ʹinnakum lataʹtoonal faaḥishata maa- sabaq̣akum̃ bihaa min ʹaḥadim minal ʻAalameen.

And [mention] Lot, when he said to his people, "Indeed, you commit such immorality as no one has preceded you with from among the worlds.

  158. 29:29

ʹAʹinnakum lataʹtoonar rijaala wa-taq̣ṭaʻoonas sabeel? Wa-taʹtoona fee naadeekumul muñkar? Famaa kaana jawaaba q̣awmiheee ʹillaaa ʹañ q̣aaluʹ tinaa biʻAẓaabil laahi ʹiñ kuñta minaṣ ṣaadiq̣een.

Indeed, you approach men and obstruct the road and commit in your meetings [every] evil." And the answer of his people was not but that they said, "Bring us the punishment of Allāh, if you should be of the truthful."

  159. 29:30

Q̣aala Rabbiñ ṣurnee ʻalal q̣awmil mufsideen!

He said, "My Lord, support me against the corrupting people."

  160. 29:31

Wa-lammaa jaaaʹat Rusulunaaa ʹIbraaheema bil-bushraa q̣aalooo ʹinnaa muhlikooo ʹahli haaẓihil q̣aryah: ʹinna ʹahlahaa kaanoo z̤̣aalimeen.

And when Our messengers [i.e., angels] came to Abraham with the good tidings, they said, "Indeed, we will destroy the people of that [i.e., Lot's] city. Indeed, its people have been wrongdoers."

  161. 29:32

Q̣aala ʹinna feeha Looṭaa. Q̣aaloo naḥnu ʹaʻlamu bimañ feehaa. Lanunajjiyannahoo wa-ʹahlahooo ʹillam raʹatahoo kaanat minal g̣aabireen!

[Abraham] said, "Indeed, within it is Lot." They said, "We are more knowing of who is within it. We will surely save him and his family, except his wife. She is to be of those who remain behind."

  162. 29:33

Wa-lammaaa ʹañ jaaaʹat Rusulunaa Looṭañ seeeʹa bihim wa-ḍaaq̣a bihim ẓarʻañw waq̣aaloo laa- takhaf wa-laa taḥzan: ʹinnaa munajjooka wa-ʹahlaka ʹillam raʹataka kaanat minal g̣aabireen.

And when Our messengers [i.e., angels] came to Lot, he was distressed for them and felt for them great discomfort. They said, "Fear not, nor grieve. Indeed, we will save you and your family, except your wife; she is to be of those who remain behind.

  163. 29:34

ʹInnaa muñziloona ʻalaaa ʹahli Haaẓihil q̣aryati Rijzam minas samaaaʹi bimaa kaanoo yafsuq̣oon.

Indeed, we will bring down on the people of this city punishment from the sky because they have been defiantly disobedient."

  164. 29:35

    Wa-laq̣at taraknaa min-haaa ʹAayatam bayyinatal liq̣awmiñy yaʻq̣iloon.

And We have certainly left of it a sign as clear evidence for a people who use reason.

  165. 29:36

Wa-ʹilaa Madyana ʹakhaahum shuʻaybañ faq̣aala yaa-q̣awmiʻ budul laaha warjul Yawmal ʹAakhira wa-laa taʻs̤aw fil ʹarḍi mufsideen.

And to Madyan [We sent] their brother Shuʿayb, and he said, "O my people, worship Allāh and expect the Last Day and do not commit abuse on the earth, spreading corruption."

  166. 29:37

Fakaẓẓaboohu faʹakhaẓathumur rajfatu faʹaṣbaḥoo fee daarihim jaas̤imeen.

But they denied him, so the earthquake seized them, and they became within their home [corpses] fallen prone.

  167. 29:38

Wa-ʻAadañw Wa-S̤amooda waq̣at tabayyana lakum mim masaakinihim. Wa-zayyana lahumush Shayṭaanu ʹaʻmaalahum faṣaddahum ʻanis Sabeeli wa-kaanoo Mustabṣireen.

And [We destroyed] ʿAad and Thamūd, and it has become clear to you from their [ruined] dwellings. And Satan had made pleasing to them their deeds and averted them from the path, and they were endowed with perception.

  168. 29:39

    Wa-Q̣aaroona wa-Firʻawna wa-Haamaan: wa-laq̣ad jaaaʹahum Moosaa bil-Bayyinaati fastakbaroo fil ʹarḍi wa-maa kaanoo saabiq̣een.

And [We destroyed] Qārūn and Pharaoh and Hāmān. And Moses had already come to them with clear evidences, and they were arrogant in the land, but they were not outrunners [of Our punishment].

  169. 29:40

Fakullan ʹakhaẓnaa biẓambih: faminhum man ʹarsalnaa ʻalayhi ḥaaṣibaa; wa-minhum man ʹakhaẓathuṣ Ṣayḥah; wa-minhum man khasafnaa bihil ʹarḍ: wa-minhum man ʹag̣raq̣naa: wa-maa kaanal laahu liyaz̤̣limahum wa-laakiñ kaanooo ʹañfusahum yaz̤̣limoon.

So each We seized for his sin; and among them were those upon whom We sent a storm of stones, and among them were those who were seized by the blast [from the sky], and among them were those whom We caused the earth to swallow, and among them were those whom We drowned. And Allāh would not have wronged them, but it was they who were wronging themselves.

  170. 29:41

Mas̤alul laẓeenat takhaẓoo miñ doonil laahi ʹawliyaaaʹa kamas̤alil ʻAñkaboot: ʹittakhaẓat baytaa! Wa-ʹinna ʹawhanal buyooti labaytul ʻAñkaboot. Law kaanoo yaʻlamoon.

The example of those who take allies other than Allāh is like that of the spider who takes [i.e., constructs] a home. And indeed, the weakest of homes is the home of the spider, if they only knew.

  171. 29:42

ʹInnal laaha yaʻlamu maa- yadʻoona miñ doonihee miñ shayʹ: wa-Huwal ʻAzeezul Ḥakeem.

Indeed, Allāh knows whatever thing they call upon other than Him. And He is the Exalted in Might, the Wise.

  172. 29:43

    Wa-tilkal ʹAms̤aalu naḍribuhaa linnaasi wa-maa yaʻq̣iluhaaa ʹillal ʻAalimoon.

And these examples We present to the people, but none will understand them except those of knowledge.

  173. 29:44

Khalaq̣al laahus samaawaati wal-ʹarḍa bilḥaq̣q̣. ʹInna fee ẓaalika laʹAayatal lil-Muʹmineen.

Allāh created the heavens and the earth in truth. Indeed in that is a sign for the believers.

  174. 29:45

ʹUtlu maaa ʹooḥiya ʹilayka minal Kitaabi wa-ʹaq̣imiṣ Ṣalaah: ʹinnaṣ Ṣalaata tanhaa ʻanil faḥshaaaʹi wal-muñkar; wa-la-Ẓikrul laahi ʹAkbar. Wal-laahu yaʻlamu maa- taṣnaʻoon.

Recite, [O Muḥammad], what has been revealed to you of the Book and establish prayer. Indeed, prayer prohibits immorality and wrongdoing, and the remembrance of Allāh is greater. And Allāh knows that which you do.
