Background

This is the dua of Dhū’n‑Nūn (Yūnus) when he left his people, was swallowed by the great fish, and called out from the layers of darkness confessing his wrongdoing. The supplication is pure tawḥīd and humility: declaring Allah’s perfection and admitting personal injustice. Allah then mentions that He rescued Yūnus and that He similarly saves believers.
