Extend your worship with remembrance
سُبْحَانَ الْمَلِكِ الْقُدُّوْسِ.
Subḥāna-l-Maliki-l-Quddūs.
How perfect is the Sovereign, the Most Holy.
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to pray Witr… and when he finished he would say [the above], and would raise and extend his voice the third time. (Nasā’ī 1699)
لَا إِلٰهَ إِلَّا اللّٰهُ وَحْدَهُ لَا شَرِيْكَ لَهُ ، لَهُ الْمُلْكُ وَلَهُ الْحَمْدُ وَهُوَ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيْرٌ ، لَا حَوْلَ وَلَا قُوَّةَ إِلَّا بِاللهِ ، لَا إِلٰهَ إِلَّا اللّٰهُ ، وَلَا نَعْبُدُ إِلَّا إيَّاهُ ، لَهُ النِّعْمَةُ وَلَهُ الْفَضْلُ وَلَهُ الثَّنَاءُ الْحَسَنُ ، لَا إِلٰهَ إِلَّا اللّٰهُ مُخْلِصِيْنَ لَهُ الدِّيْنَ ، وَلَوْ كَرِهَ الْكَافِرُوْنَ.
Lā ilāha illā-llāhu waḥdahū lā sharīka lah, lahu-l-mulku, wa lahu-l-ḥamd, wa Huwa ʿalā kulli shay’in Qadīr, lā ḥawla wa lā quwwata illā bi-llāh, lā ilāha illā-llāh, wa lā naʿbudu illā iyyāh, lahu-n-nʿimatu wa lahu-l-faḍl, wa lahu-th-thanā’u-l-ḥasan, lā ilāha illā-llāhu mukhliṣīna lahu-d-dīn, wa law kariha-l-kāfirūn.
There is no god worthy of worship but Allah… There is no power or strength except through Allah… To Him Alone belong grace, bounteousness and noble praise…
Ibn al-Zubayr (raḍiy Allāhu ‘anhu) uttered at the end of every prayer after the salām [the above]. (Muslim 594)
لَا إِلٰهَ إِلَّا اللّٰهُ وَحْدَهُ لَا شَرِيْكَ لَهُ ، لَهُ الْمُلْكُ وَلَهُ الْحَمْدُ وَهُوَ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيْرٌ ، اَللّٰهُمَّ لَا مَانِعَ لِمَا أَعْطَيْتَ ، وَلَا مُعْطِيَ لِمَا مَنَعْتَ ، وَلَا يَنْفَعُ ذَا الْجَـدِّ مِنْكَ الْجَـدُّ.
Lā ilāha illā-llāhu waḥdahū lā sharīka lah, lahu-l-mulku, wa lahu-l-ḥamd, wa Huwa ʿalā kulli shay’in Qadīr, Allāhumma lā māniʿa li-mā aʿaṭayt, wa lā muʿṭiya li-mā manʿat, wa lā yanfaʿu dha-l-jaddi minka-l-jadd.
…O Allah, there is none who can withhold what You give, and none can give what You withhold; and the wealth of the wealthy does not avail them against You.
The Prophet ﷺ used to say [the above] after every compulsory prayer. (Bukhārī 844)
(x33) سُبْحَانَ اللّٰهِ. (x33) اَلْحَمْدُ لِلّٰهِ. (x33) اَللّٰهُ أَكْبَرُ.
لَا إِلٰهَ إِلَّا اللّٰهُ وَحْدَهُ لَا شَرِيْكَ لَهُ ، لَهُ الْمُلْكُ وَلَهُ الْحَمْدُ ، وَهُوَ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيْرٌ.
Subḥāna-llāh (x33), Alḥamduli-llāh (x33), Allāhu akbar (x33), Lā ilāha illā Allāhu waḥdahū lā sharīka lah, lahu-l-mulku wa lahu-l-ḥamd, wa Huwa ʿalā kulli shay’in Qadīr.
Allah is free from imperfection (33x). All praise be to Allah (33x). Allah is the Greatest (33x). There is no god but Allah…
“He who recites [the above] after every prayer will have all his sins forgiven even if they are as abundant as the foam of the sea.” (Muslim 597)
اَللّٰهُمَّ إِنِّيْ أَعُوْذُ بِكَ مِنَ الْبُخْلِ ، وَأَعُوْذُ بِكَ مِنَ الْجُبْنِ ، وَأَعُوْذُ بِكَ مِنْ أَنْ أُرَدَّ إِلَىٰ أَرْذَلِ الْعُمُرِ ، وَأَعُوْذُ بِكَ مِنْ فِتْنَةِ الدُّنْيَا ، وأَعُوْذُ بِكَ مِنْ عَذَابِ الْقَبْرِ.
Allāhumma innī aʿūdhu bika mina-l-bukhl, wa aʿūdhu bika mina-l-jubn, wa aʿūdhu bika min an uradda ilā ardhali-l-ʿumur, wa aʿūdhu bika min fitnati-d-dunyā, wa aʿūdhu bika min ʿadhābi-l-qabr.
O Allah, I seek Your protection from miserliness and I seek Your protection from cowardice… from miserable old age… from trials of the world… and from punishment of the grave.
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to seek refuge with Allah from them [the above] at the end of every prayer. (Ibn Ḥibbān 2024)
اَللّٰهُمَّ أَعِنِّيْ عَلَىٰ ذِكْرِكَ وَشُكْرِكَ وَحُسْنِ عِبَادَتِكَ.
Allāhumma aʿinnī ʿalā dhikrika wa shukrika wa ḥusni ʿibādatik.
O Allah, help me in remembering You, in being grateful to You, and in worshipping You in an excellent manner.
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “O Mu’ādh… I advise you not to forget supplicating after every prayer by saying: [the above].” (Abū Dāwūd 1522)
اَللّٰهُمَّ أَجِرْنِيْ مِنَ النَّارِ.
Allāhumma ajirnī mina-n-nār.
O Allah, protect me from the Hell-fire.
“When you finish Maghrib, say [the above] seven times. If you say that and then die during that night, it will be a protection for you. And after praying Fajr, say the same.” (Abū Dāwūd 5079)
لَا إِلٰهَ إِلَّا اللّٰهُ وَحْدَهُ لَا شَرِيْكَ لَهُ ، لَهُ الْمُلْكُ وَلَهُ الْحَمْدُ يُحْيِيْ وَيُمِيْتُ ، وَهُوَ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيْرٌ.
Lā ilāha illā-llāhu waḥdahū lā sharīka lah, lahu-l-mulku wa lahu-l-ḥamdu yuḥyī wa yumīt, wa Huwa ʿalā kulli shay’in Qadīr.
There is no god but Allah… He gives life and He gives death. He is over all things All-Powerful.
“Whoever says [the above] 10 times after Maghrib and Fajr… Allah will write 10 good deeds… forgive 10 sins… raise 10 stages… shield for him against all repulsive things…” (Aḥmad 17990)
بِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِيْمِ. قُلْ هُوَ اللّٰهُ أَحَدٌ…
بِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِيْمِ. قُلْ أَعُوْذُ بِرَبِّ الْفَلَقِ…
بِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِيْمِ. قُلْ أَعُوْذُ بِرَبِّ النَّاسِ…
Qul Huwa-llāhu Aḥad… Qul aʿūdhu bi Rabbi-l-falaq… Qul aʿūdhu bi rabbi-n-nās…
Surah Al-Ikhlas, Surah Al-Falaq, Surah An-Nas.
“The Messenger of Allah ﷺ commanded me to recite ‘al-Mu’awwidhāt’ at the end of every prayer.” (Abū Dāwūd 1523)
أَعُوْذُ بِاللّٰهِ مِنَ الشَّيْطَانِ الرَّجِيْمِ. اَللّٰهُ لَآ إِلٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ الْحَىُّ الْقَيُّوْمُ ، لَا تَأْخُذُهُۥ سِنَةٌ وَّلَا نَوْمٌ ، لَهُ مَا فِى السَّمٰـوٰتِ وَمَا فِى الْأَرْضِ ، مَنْ ذَا الَّذِىْ يَشْفَعُ عِنْدَهُ إِلَّا بِإِذْنِهِۦ ، يَعْلَمُ مَا بَيْنَ أَيْدِيْهِمْ وَمَا خَلْفَهُمْ ، وَلَا يُحِيْطُوْنَ بِشَىْءٍ مِّنْ عِلْمِهِٓ إِلَّا بِمَا شَآءَ ، وَسِعَ كُرْسِيُّهُ السَّمٰـوٰتِ وَالْأَرْضَ، وَلَا يَئُوْدُهُۥ حِفْظُهُمَا ، وَهُوَ الْعَلِىُّ الْعَظِيْمُ.
Allāhu lā ilāha illā Huwa-l-Ḥayyu-l-Qayyūm…
Allah, there is no god worthy of worship but He, the Ever Living, The Sustainer of all…
“Whoever reads [Āyat al-Kursī] after every obligatory prayer, there is nothing that will prevent him from entering Paradise except death.” (Nasā’ī 100)
اَللّٰهُمَّ إِنِّيْ أَسْأَلُكَ عِلْمًا نَافِعًا ، وَرِزْقًا طَيِّبًا ، وَعَمَلًا مُتَقَبَّلًا.
Allāhumma innī as’aluka ʿilma-n-nāfiʿā, wa rizqan ṭayyibā, wa ʿamalam-mutaqabbalā.
O Allah, I ask You for beneficial knowledge, wholesome sustenance, and deeds which are accepted.
Umm Salamah (raḍiy Allāhu ‘anhā) narrated that when the Prophet ﷺ performed the Fajr ṣalāh, he would say [the above], when he said the salām. (Ibn Mājah 925)
أَسْتَغْفِرُ اللهَ (x3) ، اَللّٰهُمَّ أَنْتَ السَّلَامُ ، وَمِنْكَ السَّلَامُ ، تَبَارَكْتَ يَا ذَا الْجَلَالِ وَالْإِكْرَامِ.
Astaghfiru-llāh (x3), Allāhumma Anta-s-Salām, wa minka-s-salām, tabārakta yā Dha-l-Jalāli wa-l-Ikrām.
I seek the forgiveness of Allah (x3). O Allah, You are The Flawless and The Source of Peace, and from You comes peace. Blessed are You, full of Majesty and Honour.
When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ finished his prayer, he would seek forgiveness three times and say [the above]. (Muslim 591)
