Surah Ar-Rum

Verse 30:1

الٓمّٓ ۟ۚ

ʹAlif-Laaam-Meeem.

Alif-Lãm-Mĩm.

Verse 30:2

غُلِبَتِ الرُّوْمُ ۟ۙ

G̣ulibatir Room.

The Romans have been defeated

Verse 30:3

فِیْۤ اَدْنَی الْاَرْضِ وَهُمْ مِّنْ بَعْدِ غَلَبِهِمْ سَیَغْلِبُوْنَ ۟ۙ

Feee ʹadnal ʹarḍi wa-hum mim baʻdi g̣alabihim sayag̣liboon.

in a nearby land. Yet following their defeat, they will triumph

Verse 30:4

فِیْ بِضْعِ سِنِیْنَ ؕ۬ لِلّٰهِ الْاَمْرُ مِنْ قَبْلُ وَمِنْ بَعْدُ ؕ وَیَوْمَىِٕذٍ یَّفْرَحُ الْمُؤْمِنُوْنَ ۟ۙ

Fee biḍʻi sineen. Lillaahil ʹAmru miñ q̣ablu wa-mim baʻd: Wa-yawmaʹiẓiñy yafraḥul Muʹminoon.

within three to nine years. The ˹whole˺ matter rests with Allah before and after ˹victory˺. And on that day the believers will rejoice

Verse 30:5

بِنَصْرِ اللّٰهِ ؕ یَنْصُرُ مَنْ یَّشَآءُ ؕ وَهُوَ الْعَزِیْزُ الرَّحِیْمُ ۟ۙ

Binaṣril laah. Yañṣuru mañy yashaaaʹ: wa-Huwal ʻAzeezur Raḥeem.

at the victory willed by Allah. He gives victory to whoever He wills. For He is the Almighty, Most Merciful.

Verse 30:6

وَعْدَ اللّٰهِ ؕ لَا یُخْلِفُ اللّٰهُ وَعْدَهٗ وَلٰكِنَّ اَكْثَرَ النَّاسِ لَا یَعْلَمُوْنَ ۟

Waʻdal laah. Laaʹ yukhliful laahu waʻdahu wa-laakinna ʹaks̤aran naasi laa- yaʻlamoon.

˹This is˺ the promise of Allah. ˹And˺ Allah never fails in His promise. But most people do not know.

Verse 30:7

یَعْلَمُوْنَ ظَاهِرًا مِّنَ الْحَیٰوةِ الدُّنْیَا ۖۚ وَهُمْ عَنِ الْاٰخِرَةِ هُمْ غٰفِلُوْنَ ۟

Yaʻlamoona z̤̣aahiram minal ḥayaatid dunyaa wa-hum ʻanil ʹAakirati hum g̣aafiloon.

They ˹only˺ know the worldly affairs of this life, but are ˹totally˺ oblivious to the Hereafter.

Verse 30:8

اَوَلَمْ یَتَفَكَّرُوْا فِیْۤ اَنْفُسِهِمْ ۫ مَا خَلَقَ اللّٰهُ السَّمٰوٰتِ وَالْاَرْضَ وَمَا بَیْنَهُمَاۤ اِلَّا بِالْحَقِّ وَاَجَلٍ مُّسَمًّی ؕ وَاِنَّ كَثِیْرًا مِّنَ النَّاسِ بِلِقَآئِ رَبِّهِمْ لَكٰفِرُوْنَ ۟

ʹAwalam yatafakkaroo feee ʹañfusihim? Maa- khalaq̣al laahus samaawaati wal-ʹarḍa wa-maa baynahumaaa ʹillaa bil-ḥaq̣q̣i wa-ʹajalim musammaa: wa-ʹinna kas̤eeram minan naasi biliq̣aaaʹi Rabbihim lakaafiroon!

Have they not reflected upon their own being? Allah only created the heavens and the earth and everything in between for a purpose and an appointed term. Yet most people are truly in denial of the meeting with their Lord!

Verse 30:9

اَوَلَمْ یَسِیْرُوْا فِی الْاَرْضِ فَیَنْظُرُوْا كَیْفَ كَانَ عَاقِبَةُ الَّذِیْنَ مِنْ قَبْلِهِمْ ؕ كَانُوْۤا اَشَدَّ مِنْهُمْ قُوَّةً وَّاَثَارُوا الْاَرْضَ وَعَمَرُوْهَاۤ اَكْثَرَ مِمَّا عَمَرُوْهَا وَجَآءَتْهُمْ رُسُلُهُمْ بِالْبَیِّنٰتِ ؕ فَمَا كَانَ اللّٰهُ لِیَظْلِمَهُمْ وَلٰكِنْ كَانُوْۤا اَنْفُسَهُمْ یَظْلِمُوْنَ ۟ؕ

ʹAwalam yaseeroo fil ʹarḍi fayañz̤̣uroo kayfa kaana ʻAaq̣ibatul laẓeena miñ q̣ablihim? Kaanooo ʹashadda minhum q̣uwwatañw waʹas̤aarul ʹarḍa wa-ʻamaroohaaa ʹaks̤ara mimmaa ʻamaroohaa wa-jaaaʹathum rusuluhum̃ bil-Bayyinaat: famaa kaanal laahu liyaz̤̣limahum wa-laakiñ kaanooo ʹañfusahum yaz̤̣limoon.

Have they not travelled throughout the land to see what was the end of those ˹destroyed˺ before them? They were far superior in might; they cultivated the land and developed it more than these ˹Meccans˺ ever have. Their messengers came to them with clear proofs. Allah would have never wronged them, but it was they who wronged themselves.

Verse 30:10

ثُمَّ كَانَ عَاقِبَةَ الَّذِیْنَ اَسَآءُوا السُّوْٓاٰۤی اَنْ كَذَّبُوْا بِاٰیٰتِ اللّٰهِ وَكَانُوْا بِهَا یَسْتَهْزِءُوْنَ ۟۠

S̤umma kaana ʻAaq̣ibatal laẓeena ʹasaaaʹus soooʹaaa ʹañ kaẓẓaboo biʹAayaatil laahi wa-kaanoo bihaa yastahziʹoon.

Then most evil was the end of the evildoers for denying and mocking the signs of Allah.

Verse 30:11

اَللّٰهُ یَبْدَؤُا الْخَلْقَ ثُمَّ یُعِیْدُهٗ ثُمَّ اِلَیْهِ تُرْجَعُوْنَ ۟

ʹAllaahu yabdaʹul khalq̣a s̤umma yuʻeeduhoo s̤umma ʹilayhi turjaʻoon.

It is Allah Who originates the creation, and will resurrect it. And then to Him you will ˹all˺ be returned.

Verse 30:12

وَیَوْمَ تَقُوْمُ السَّاعَةُ یُبْلِسُ الْمُجْرِمُوْنَ ۟

Wa-Yawma taq̣oomus Saaʻatu yublisul mujrimoon.

On the Day the Hour will arrive, the wicked will be dumbstruck.

Verse 30:13

وَلَمْ یَكُنْ لَّهُمْ مِّنْ شُرَكَآىِٕهِمْ شُفَعٰٓؤُا وَكَانُوْا بِشُرَكَآىِٕهِمْ كٰفِرِیْنَ ۟

Wa-lam yakul lahum miñ Shurakaaaʹihim shufaʻaaaʹu wa-kaanoo bi-Shurakaaaʹihim kaafireen.

There will be no intercessors for them from among their associate-gods, and they will ˹totally˺ deny their associate-gods.

Verse 30:14

وَیَوْمَ تَقُوْمُ السَّاعَةُ یَوْمَىِٕذٍ یَّتَفَرَّقُوْنَ ۟

Wa-Yawma taq̣oomus Saaʻatu Yawmaʹiẓiñy yatafarraq̣oon.

And on the Day the Hour will arrive, the people will then be split ˹into two groups˺.

Verse 30:15

فَاَمَّا الَّذِیْنَ اٰمَنُوْا وَعَمِلُوا الصّٰلِحٰتِ فَهُمْ فِیْ رَوْضَةٍ یُّحْبَرُوْنَ ۟

Faʹammal laẓeena ʹaamanoo wa-ʻamiluṣ ṣaaliḥaati fahum fee Rawḍatiñy yuḥbaroon.

As for those who believed and did good, they will be rejoicing in a Garden.

Verse 30:16

وَاَمَّا الَّذِیْنَ كَفَرُوْا وَكَذَّبُوْا بِاٰیٰتِنَا وَلِقَآئِ الْاٰخِرَةِ فَاُولٰٓىِٕكَ فِی الْعَذَابِ مُحْضَرُوْنَ ۟

Wa-ʹammal laẓeena kafaroo wa-kaẓẓaboo biʹAayaatinaa wa-liq̣aaaʹil ʹAakhirati faʹulaaaʹika fil ʻaẓaabi muḥḍaroon.

And as for those who disbelieved, and denied Our signs and the meeting ˹with Allah˺ in the Hereafter, they will be confined in punishment.

Verse 30:17

فَسُبْحٰنَ اللّٰهِ حِیْنَ تُمْسُوْنَ وَحِیْنَ تُصْبِحُوْنَ ۟

Fa-Subḥaanal laahi ḥeena tumsoona waḥeena tuṣbiḥoon.

So glorify Allah in the evening and in the morning—

Verse 30:18

وَلَهُ الْحَمْدُ فِی السَّمٰوٰتِ وَالْاَرْضِ وَعَشِیًّا وَّحِیْنَ تُظْهِرُوْنَ ۟

Wa-lahul Ḥamdu fis samaawaati wal-ʹarḍi wa-ʻashiyyañw waḥeena tuz̤̣hiroon.

all praise is for Him in the heavens and the earth—as well as in the afternoon, and at noon.

Verse 30:19

یُخْرِجُ الْحَیَّ مِنَ الْمَیِّتِ وَیُخْرِجُ الْمَیِّتَ مِنَ الْحَیِّ وَیُحْیِ الْاَرْضَ بَعْدَ مَوْتِهَا ؕ وَكَذٰلِكَ تُخْرَجُوْنَ ۟۠

Yukhrijul ḥayya minal mayyiti wa-yukhrijul mayyita minal ḥayyi wa-yuḥyil ʹarḍa baʻda mawtihaa: wa-kaẓaalika tukhrajoon.

He brings forth the living from the dead and the dead from the living. And He gives life to the earth after its death. And so will you be brought forth ˹from the grave˺.

Verse 30:20

وَمِنْ اٰیٰتِهٖۤ اَنْ خَلَقَكُمْ مِّنْ تُرَابٍ ثُمَّ اِذَاۤ اَنْتُمْ بَشَرٌ تَنْتَشِرُوْنَ ۟

Wa-min ʹAayaatiheee ʹan khalaq̣akum miñ turaabiñ s̤umma ʹiẓaaa ʹañtum̃ basharuñ tañtashiroon!

One of His signs is that He created you from dust, then—behold!—you are human beings spreading over ˹the earth˺.

Verse 30:21

وَمِنْ اٰیٰتِهٖۤ اَنْ خَلَقَ لَكُمْ مِّنْ اَنْفُسِكُمْ اَزْوَاجًا لِّتَسْكُنُوْۤا اِلَیْهَا وَجَعَلَ بَیْنَكُمْ مَّوَدَّةً وَّرَحْمَةً ؕ اِنَّ فِیْ ذٰلِكَ لَاٰیٰتٍ لِّقَوْمٍ یَّتَفَكَّرُوْنَ ۟

Wa-min ʹAayaatiheee ʹan khalaq̣a lakum min ʹañfusikum ʹazwaajal litaskunooo ʹilayhaa wa-jaʻala baynakum mawaddatañw waraḥmah: ʹinna fee ẓaalika laʹAayaatil liq̣awmiñy yatafakkaroon.

And one of His signs is that He created for you spouses from among yourselves so that you may find comfort in them. And He has placed between you compassion and mercy. Surely in this are signs for people who reflect.

Verse 30:22

وَمِنْ اٰیٰتِهٖ خَلْقُ السَّمٰوٰتِ وَالْاَرْضِ وَاخْتِلَافُ اَلْسِنَتِكُمْ وَاَلْوَانِكُمْ ؕ اِنَّ فِیْ ذٰلِكَ لَاٰیٰتٍ لِّلْعٰلِمِیْنَ ۟

Wa-min ʹAayaatihee khalq̣us samaawaati wal-ʹarḍi wakhtilaafu ʹalsinatikum wa-ʹalwaanikum: ʹinna fee ẓaalika laʹAayaatil lilʻaalimeen.

And one of His signs is the creation of the heavens and the earth, and the diversity of your languages and colours. Surely in this are signs for those of ˹sound˺ knowledge.

Verse 30:23

وَمِنْ اٰیٰتِهٖ مَنَامُكُمْ بِالَّیْلِ وَالنَّهَارِ وَابْتِغَآؤُكُمْ مِّنْ فَضْلِهٖ ؕ اِنَّ فِیْ ذٰلِكَ لَاٰیٰتٍ لِّقَوْمٍ یَّسْمَعُوْنَ ۟

Wa-min ʹAayaatihee manaamukum̃ bil-layli wannahaari wabtig̣aaaʹukum miñ faḍlih: ʹinna fee ẓaalika laʹAayaatil liq̣awmiñy yasmaʻoon.

And one of His signs is your sleep by night and by day ˹for rest˺ as well as your seeking His bounty ˹in both˺. Surely in this are signs for people who listen.

Verse 30:24

وَمِنْ اٰیٰتِهٖ یُرِیْكُمُ الْبَرْقَ خَوْفًا وَّطَمَعًا وَّیُنَزِّلُ مِنَ السَّمَآءِ مَآءً فَیُحْیٖ بِهِ الْاَرْضَ بَعْدَ مَوْتِهَا ؕ اِنَّ فِیْ ذٰلِكَ لَاٰیٰتٍ لِّقَوْمٍ یَّعْقِلُوْنَ ۟

Wa-min ʹAayaatihee yureekumul barq̣a khawfañw waṭamaʻañw wayunazzilu minas samaaaʹi maaaʹañ fayuḥyee bihil ʹarḍa baʻda mawtihaa: ʹinna fee ẓaalika laʹAayaatil liq̣awmiñy yaʻq̣iloon.

And one of His signs is that He shows you lightning, inspiring ˹you with˺ hope and fear. And He sends down rain from the sky, reviving the earth after its death. Surely in this are signs for people who understand.

Verse 30:25

وَمِنْ اٰیٰتِهٖۤ اَنْ تَقُوْمَ السَّمَآءُ وَالْاَرْضُ بِاَمْرِهٖ ؕ ثُمَّ اِذَا دَعَاكُمْ دَعْوَةً ۖۗ مِّنَ الْاَرْضِ ۖۗ اِذَاۤ اَنْتُمْ تَخْرُجُوْنَ ۟

Wa-min ʹAayaatiheee ʹañ taq̣oomas samaaaʹu wal-ʹarḍu biʹAmrih: s̤umma ʹiẓaa daʻaakum daʻwatam minal ʹarḍi ʹiẓaaa ʹañtum takhrujoon.

And one of His signs is that the heavens and the earth persist by His command. Then when He calls you out of the earth just once, you will instantly come forth.

Verse 30:26

وَلَهٗ مَنْ فِی السَّمٰوٰتِ وَالْاَرْضِ ؕ كُلٌّ لَّهٗ قٰنِتُوْنَ ۟

Wa-lahoo mañ fis samaawaati wal-ʹarḍ: kullul lahoo q̣aanitoon.

And to Him belong all those in the heavens and the earth—all are subject to His Will.

Verse 30:27

وَهُوَ الَّذِیْ یَبْدَؤُا الْخَلْقَ ثُمَّ یُعِیْدُهٗ وَهُوَ اَهْوَنُ عَلَیْهِ ؕ وَلَهُ الْمَثَلُ الْاَعْلٰى فِی السَّمٰوٰتِ وَالْاَرْضِ ۚ وَهُوَ الْعَزِیْزُ الْحَكِیْمُ ۟۠

Wa-Huwal laẓee yabdaʹul khalq̣a s̤umma yuʻeeduhoo wa-huwa ʹahwanu ʻalayh. wa-lahul Mas̤alul ʹAʻlaa fis samaawaati wal-ʹarḍ: wa-Huwal ʻAzeezul Ḥakeem.

And He is the One Who originates the creation then will resurrect it—which is even easier for Him. To Him belong the finest attributes in the heavens and the earth. And He is the Almighty, All-Wise.

Verse 30:28

ضَرَبَ لَكُمْ مَّثَلًا مِّنْ اَنْفُسِكُمْ ؕ هَلْ لَّكُمْ مِّنْ مَّا مَلَكَتْ اَیْمَانُكُمْ مِّنْ شُرَكَآءَ فِیْ مَا رَزَقْنٰكُمْ فَاَنْتُمْ فِیْهِ سَوَآءٌ تَخَافُوْنَهُمْ كَخِیْفَتِكُمْ اَنْفُسَكُمْ ؕ كَذٰلِكَ نُفَصِّلُ الْاٰیٰتِ لِقَوْمٍ یَّعْقِلُوْنَ ۟

Ḍaraba lakum mas̤alam min ʹañfusikum: hal lakum mim maa malakat ʹaymaanukum miñ shurakaaaʹa fee maa- razaq̣naakum faʹañtum feehi sawaaaʹuñ takhaafoonahum kakheefatikum ʹañfusakum? Kaẓaalika nufaṣṣilul ʹAayaati liq̣awmiñy yaʻq̣iloon.

He sets forth for you an example ˹drawn˺ from your own lives: would you allow some of those ˹bondspeople˺ in your possession to be your equal partners in whatever ˹wealth˺ We have provided you, keeping them in mind as you are mindful of your peers? This is how We make the signs clear for people who understand.

Verse 30:29

بَلِ اتَّبَعَ الَّذِیْنَ ظَلَمُوْۤا اَهْوَآءَهُمْ بِغَیْرِ عِلْمٍ ۚ فَمَنْ یَّهْدِیْ مَنْ اَضَلَّ اللّٰهُ ؕ وَمَا لَهُمْ مِّنْ نّٰصِرِیْنَ ۟

Balit tabaʻal laẓeena z̤̣alamooo ʹahwaaaʹahum̃ big̣ayri ʻilm. famañy yahdee man ʹaḍallal laah? Wa-maa lahum min naaṣireen.

In fact, the wrongdoers merely follow their desires with no knowledge. Who then can guide those Allah has left to stray? They will have no helpers.

Verse 30:30

فَاَقِمْ وَجْهَكَ لِلدِّیْنِ حَنِیْفًا ؕ فِطْرَتَ اللّٰهِ الَّتِیْ فَطَرَ النَّاسَ عَلَیْهَا ؕ لَا تَبْدِیْلَ لِخَلْقِ اللّٰهِ ؕ ذٰلِكَ الدِّیْنُ الْقَیِّمُ ۙۗ وَلٰكِنَّ اَكْثَرَ النَّاسِ لَا یَعْلَمُوْنَ ۟ۗۙ

Faʹaq̣im wajhaka lid-Deeni ḥaneefaa: Fiṭratal laahil latee faṭaran naasa ʻalayhaa: laa- tabdeela likhalq̣il laah: ẓaalikad Deenul Q̣ayyimu wa-laakinna ʹaks̤aran naasi laa- yaʻlamoon.

So be steadfast in faith in all uprightness ˹O Prophet˺—the natural Way of Allah which He has instilled in ˹all˺ people. Let there be no change in this creation of Allah. That is the Straight Way, but most people do not know.

Verse 30:31

مُنِیْبِیْنَ اِلَیْهِ وَاتَّقُوْهُ وَاَقِیْمُوا الصَّلٰوةَ وَلَا تَكُوْنُوْا مِنَ الْمُشْرِكِیْنَ ۟ۙ

Muneebeena ʹilayhi wattaq̣oohu wa-ʹaq̣eemuṣ Ṣalaata wa-laa takoonoo minal mushrikeen;

˹O believers!˺ Always turn to Him ˹in repentance˺, be mindful of Him, and establish prayers. And do not be polytheists—

Verse 30:32

مِنَ الَّذِیْنَ فَرَّقُوْا دِیْنَهُمْ وَكَانُوْا شِیَعًا ؕ كُلُّ حِزْبٍ بِمَا لَدَیْهِمْ فَرِحُوْنَ ۟

Minal laẓeena farraq̣oo Deenahum wa-kaanoo Shiyaʻaa: kullu ḥizbim bimaa ladayhim fariḥoon!

˹like˺ those who have divided their faith and split into sects, each rejoicing in what they have.

Verse 30:33

وَاِذَا مَسَّ النَّاسَ ضُرٌّ دَعَوْا رَبَّهُمْ مُّنِیْبِیْنَ اِلَیْهِ ثُمَّ اِذَاۤ اَذَاقَهُمْ مِّنْهُ رَحْمَةً اِذَا فَرِیْقٌ مِّنْهُمْ بِرَبِّهِمْ یُشْرِكُوْنَ ۟ۙ

Wa-ʹiẓaa massan naasa ḍurruñ daʻaw Rabbahum muneebeena ʹilayhi s̤umma ʹiẓaaa ʹaẓaaq̣ahum minhu Raḥmatan ʹiẓaa fareeq̣um minhum̃ bi-Rabbihim yushrikoon,―

When people are touched with hardship, they cry out to their Lord, turning to Him ˹alone˺. But as soon as He gives them a taste of His mercy, a group of them associates ˹others˺ with their Lord ˹in worship˺,

Verse 30:34

لِیَكْفُرُوْا بِمَاۤ اٰتَیْنٰهُمْ ؕ فَتَمَتَّعُوْا ۥ فَسَوْفَ تَعْلَمُوْنَ ۟

Liyakfuroo bimaaa ʹaataynaahum! Fatamattaʻoo: fasawfa taʻlamoon.

becoming ungrateful for whatever ˹favours˺ We have given them. So enjoy yourselves, for soon you will know.

Verse 30:35

اَمْ اَنْزَلْنَا عَلَیْهِمْ سُلْطٰنًا فَهُوَ یَتَكَلَّمُ بِمَا كَانُوْا بِهٖ یُشْرِكُوْنَ ۟

ʹAm ʹañzalnaa ʻalayhim Sulṭaanañ fahuwa yatakallamu bimaa kaanoo bihee yushrikoon?

Or have We sent down to them an authority which attests to what they associate ˹with Him˺?

Verse 30:36

وَاِذَاۤ اَذَقْنَا النَّاسَ رَحْمَةً فَرِحُوْا بِهَا ؕ وَاِنْ تُصِبْهُمْ سَیِّئَةٌ بِمَا قَدَّمَتْ اَیْدِیْهِمْ اِذَا هُمْ یَقْنَطُوْنَ ۟

Wa-ʹiẓaaa ʹaẓaq̣nan naasa Raḥmatañ fariḥoo bihaa: wa-ʹiñ tuṣibhum sayyiʹatum bimaa q̣addamat ʹaydeehim ʹiẓaa hum yaq̣naṭoon!

If We give people a taste of mercy, they become prideful ˹because˺ of it. But if they are afflicted with an evil for what their hands have done, they instantly fall into despair.

Verse 30:37

اَوَلَمْ یَرَوْا اَنَّ اللّٰهَ یَبْسُطُ الرِّزْقَ لِمَنْ یَّشَآءُ وَیَقْدِرُ ؕ اِنَّ فِیْ ذٰلِكَ لَاٰیٰتٍ لِّقَوْمٍ یُّؤْمِنُوْنَ ۟

ʹAwalam yaraw ʹannal laaha yabsuṭur rizq̣a limañy yashaaaʹu wa-yaq̣dir? ʹInna fee ẓaalika laʹAayaatil liq̣awmiñy yuʹminoon.

Have they not seen that Allah gives abundant or limited provisions to whoever He wills? Surely in this are signs for people who believe.

Verse 30:38

فَاٰتِ ذَا الْقُرْبٰى حَقَّهٗ وَالْمِسْكِیْنَ وَابْنَ السَّبِیْلِ ؕ ذٰلِكَ خَیْرٌ لِّلَّذِیْنَ یُرِیْدُوْنَ وَجْهَ اللّٰهِ ؗ وَاُولٰٓىِٕكَ هُمُ الْمُفْلِحُوْنَ ۟

Faʹaati ẓal q̣urbaa ḥaq̣q̣ahoo walmiskeena wabnas sabeel. Ẓaalika khayrul lil-laẓeena yureedoona Wajhal laahi wa-ʹulaaʹika humul Mufliḥoon.

So give your close relatives their due, as well as the poor and the ˹needy˺ traveller. That is best for those who seek the pleasure of Allah, and it is they who will be successful.

Verse 30:39

وَمَاۤ اٰتَیْتُمْ مِّنْ رِّبًا لِّیَرْبُوَاۡ فِیْۤ اَمْوَالِ النَّاسِ فَلَا یَرْبُوْا عِنْدَ اللّٰهِ ۚ وَمَاۤ اٰتَیْتُمْ مِّنْ زَكٰوةٍ تُرِیْدُوْنَ وَجْهَ اللّٰهِ فَاُولٰٓىِٕكَ هُمُ الْمُضْعِفُوْنَ ۟

Wa-maaa ʹaataytum mir Ribal liyarbuwa feee ʹamwaalin naasi falaa yarboo ʻiñdal laah; wa-maaa ʹaataytum miñ Zakaatiñ tureedoona Wajhal laahi faʹulaaaʹika humul muḍʻifoon.

Whatever loans you give, ˹only˺ seeking interest at the expense of people’s wealth will not increase with Allah. But whatever charity you give, ˹only˺ seeking the pleasure of Allah—it is they whose reward will be multiplied.

Verse 30:40

اَللّٰهُ الَّذِیْ خَلَقَكُمْ ثُمَّ رَزَقَكُمْ ثُمَّ یُمِیْتُكُمْ ثُمَّ یُحْیِیْكُمْ ؕ هَلْ مِنْ شُرَكَآىِٕكُمْ مَّنْ یَّفْعَلُ مِنْ ذٰلِكُمْ مِّنْ شَیْءٍ ؕ سُبْحٰنَهٗ وَتَعٰلٰى عَمَّا یُشْرِكُوْنَ ۟۠

ʹAllaahul laẓee khalaq̣akum s̤umma razaq̣akum s̤umma yumeetukum s̤umma yuḥyeekum. Hal miñ Shurakaaaʹikum mañy yafʻalu miñ ẓaalikum miñ shayʹ? Sub-ḥaanahoo wa-taʻaalaa ʻammaa yushrikoon!

It is Allah Who created you, then gives you provisions, then will cause you to die, and then will bring you back to life. Can any of your associate-gods do any of this? Glorified and Exalted is He above what they associate with Him ˹in worship˺!

Verse 30:41

ظَهَرَ الْفَسَادُ فِی الْبَرِّ وَالْبَحْرِ بِمَا كَسَبَتْ اَیْدِی النَّاسِ لِیُذِیْقَهُمْ بَعْضَ الَّذِیْ عَمِلُوْا لَعَلَّهُمْ یَرْجِعُوْنَ ۟

Z̤̣aharal fasaadu fil barri wal-baḥri bimaa kasabat ʹaydin naasi liyuẓeeq̣ahum baʻḍal laẓee ʻamiloo laʻallahum yarjiʻoon.

Corruption has spread on land and sea as a result of what people’s hands have done, so that Allah may cause them to taste ˹the consequences of˺ some of their deeds and perhaps they might return ˹to the Right Path˺.

Verse 30:42

قُلْ سِیْرُوْا فِی الْاَرْضِ فَانْظُرُوْا كَیْفَ كَانَ عَاقِبَةُ الَّذِیْنَ مِنْ قَبْلُ ؕ كَانَ اَكْثَرُهُمْ مُّشْرِكِیْنَ ۟

Q̣ul seeroo fil ʹarḍi fañz̤̣uroo kayfa kaana ʻAaq̣ibatul laẓeena miñ q̣abl. Kaana ʹaks̤aruhum mushrikeen.

Say, ˹O Prophet,˺ “Travel throughout the land and see what was the end of those ˹destroyed˺ before ˹you˺—most of them were polytheists.”

Verse 30:43

فَاَقِمْ وَجْهَكَ لِلدِّیْنِ الْقَیِّمِ مِنْ قَبْلِ اَنْ یَّاْتِیَ یَوْمٌ لَّا مَرَدَّ لَهٗ مِنَ اللّٰهِ یَوْمَىِٕذٍ یَّصَّدَّعُوْنَ ۟

Faʹaq̣im wajhaka lid-Deenil Q̣ayyimi miñ q̣abli ʹañy yaʹtiya yawmul laa maradda lahoo minal laahi Yawmaʹiẓiñy yaṣṣaddaʻoon.

So be steadfast in the Upright Faith ˹O Prophet˺, before the coming of a Day from Allah that cannot be averted. On that Day the people will be divided:

Verse 30:44

مَنْ كَفَرَ فَعَلَیْهِ كُفْرُهٗ ۚ وَمَنْ عَمِلَ صَالِحًا فَلِاَنْفُسِهِمْ یَمْهَدُوْنَ ۟ۙ

Mañ kafara faʻalayhi kufruh: wa-man ʻamila ṣaaliḥañ faliʹañfusihim yamhadoon:

those who disbelieved will bear ˹the burden of˺ their own disbelief; and those who did good will have prepared for themselves ˹eternal homes˺,

Verse 30:45

لِیَجْزِیَ الَّذِیْنَ اٰمَنُوْا وَعَمِلُوا الصَّلِحٰتِ مِنْ فَضْلِهٖ ؕ اِنَّهٗ لَا یُحِبُّ الْكٰفِرِیْنَ ۟

Liyajziyal laẓeena ʹaamanoo wa-ʻamiluṣ ṣaaliḥaati miñ faḍlih. ʹInnahoo laa- yuḥibbul kaafireen.

so that He may ˹generously˺ reward those who believe and do good, out of His grace. He truly does not like the disbelievers.

Verse 30:46

وَمِنْ اٰیٰتِهٖۤ اَنْ یُّرْسِلَ الرِّیَاحَ مُبَشِّرٰتٍ وَّلِیُذِیْقَكُمْ مِّنْ رَّحْمَتِهٖ وَلِتَجْرِیَ الْفُلْكُ بِاَمْرِهٖ وَلِتَبْتَغُوْا مِنْ فَضْلِهٖ وَلَعَلَّكُمْ تَشْكُرُوْنَ ۟

Wa-min ʹAayaatiheee ʹañy yursilar riyaaḥa mubashshiraatiñw wa-li-yuẓeeq̣akum mir Raḥmatihee wa-litajriyal fulku biʹAmrihee wa-litabtag̣oo miñ Faḍlihee wa-laʻallakum tashkuroon.

And one of His signs is that He sends the winds, ushering in good news ˹of rain˺ so that He may give you a taste of His mercy, and that ships may sail by His command, and that you may seek His bounty, and perhaps you will be grateful.

Verse 30:47

وَلَقَدْ اَرْسَلْنَا مِنْ قَبْلِكَ رُسُلًا اِلٰى قَوْمِهِمْ فَجَآءُوْهُمْ بِالْبَیِّنٰتِ فَانْتَقَمْنَا مِنَ الَّذِیْنَ اَجْرَمُوْا ؕ وَكَانَ حَقًّا عَلَیْنَا نَصْرُ الْمُؤْمِنِیْنَ ۟

Wa-laq̣ad ʹarsalnaa miñ q̣ablika rusulan ʹilaa q̣awmihim fajaaaʹoohum̃ bil-bayyinaati fañtaq̣amnaa minal laẓeena ʹajramoo: wa-kaana ḥaq̣q̣an ʻalaynaa naṣrul Muʹmineen.

Indeed, We sent before you ˹O Prophet˺ messengers, each to their own people, and they came to them with clear proofs. Then We inflicted punishment upon those who persisted in wickedness. For it is Our duty to help the believers.

Verse 30:48

اَللّٰهُ الَّذِیْ یُرْسِلُ الرِّیٰحَ فَتُثِیْرُ سَحَابًا فَیَبْسُطُهٗ فِی السَّمَآءِ كَیْفَ یَشَآءُ وَیَجْعَلُهٗ كِسَفًا فَتَرَی الْوَدْقَ یَخْرُجُ مِنْ خِلٰلِهٖ ۚ فَاِذَاۤ اَصَابَ بِهٖ مَنْ یَّشَآءُ مِنْ عِبَادِهٖۤ اِذَا هُمْ یَسْتَبْشِرُوْنَ ۟ۚ

ʹAllaahul laẓee yursilur riyaaḥa fatus̤eeru saḥaabañ fayabsuṭuhoo fis samaaaʹi kayfa yashaaaʹu wa-yajʻaluhoo kisafañ fataral wadq̣a yakhruju min khilaalih: faʹiẓaaa ʹaṣaaba bihee mañy yashaaaʹu min ʻibaadiheee ʹiẓaa hum yastabshiroon!―

It is Allah Who sends the winds, which then stir up ˹vapour, forming˺ clouds, which He then spreads out in the sky or piles up into masses as He wills, from which you see rain come forth. Then as soon as He causes it to fall on whoever He wills of His servants, they rejoice,

Verse 30:49

وَاِنْ كَانُوْا مِنْ قَبْلِ اَنْ یُّنَزَّلَ عَلَیْهِمْ مِّنْ قَبْلِهٖ لَمُبْلِسِیْنَ ۟

Wa-iñ kaanoo miñ q̣abli ʹañy yunazzala ʻalayhim miñ q̣ablihee lamubliseen!

although they had utterly lost hope just before it was sent down to them.

Verse 30:50

فَانْظُرْ اِلٰۤی اٰثٰرِ رَحْمَتِ اللّٰهِ كَیْفَ یُحْیِ الْاَرْضَ بَعْدَ مَوْتِهَا ؕ اِنَّ ذٰلِكَ لَمُحْیِ الْمَوْتٰى ۚ وَهُوَ عَلٰى كُلِّ شَیْءٍ قَدِیْرٌ ۟

Fañz̤̣ur ʹilaaa ʹaas̤aari Raḥmatil laahi kayfa yuḥyil ʹarḍa baʻda mawtihaa! ʹinna Ẓaalika la-Muḥyil mawtaa: wa-Huwaa ʻalaa kulli shayʹiñ Q̣adeer.

See then the impact of Allah’s mercy: how He gives life to the earth after its death! Surely That ˹same God˺ can raise the dead. For He is Most Capable of everything.

Verse 30:51

وَلَىِٕنْ اَرْسَلْنَا رِیْحًا فَرَاَوْهُ مُصْفَرًّا لَّظَلُّوْا مِنْ بَعْدِهٖ یَكْفُرُوْنَ ۟

Wa-laʹin arsalnaa reeḥañ faraʹawhu muṣfarral laz̤̣alloo mim baʻdihee yakfuroon!

Then if We send a ˹harsh˺ wind which they see withering ˹their˺ crops, they will definitely deny ˹old favours˺ right after.

Verse 30:52

فَاِنَّكَ لَا تُسْمِعُ الْمَوْتٰى وَلَا تُسْمِعُ الصُّمَّ الدُّعَآءَ اِذَا وَلَّوْا مُدْبِرِیْنَ ۟

Faʹinnaka laa- tusmiʻul mawtaa wa-laa tusmiʻuṣ ṣummad duʻaaaʹa ʹiẓaa wallaw mudbireen.

So you ˹O Prophet˺ certainly cannot make the dead hear ˹the truth˺. Nor can you make the deaf hear the call when they turn their backs and walk away.

Verse 30:53

وَمَاۤ اَنْتَ بِهٰدِ الْعُمْیِ عَنْ ضَلٰلَتِهِمْ ؕ اِنْ تُسْمِعُ اِلَّا مَنْ یُّؤْمِنُ بِاٰیٰتِنَا فَهُمْ مُّسْلِمُوْنَ ۟۠

Wa-maaa ʹañta bihaadil ʻumyi ʻañ ḍalaalatihim: ʹiñ tusmiʻu illaa mañy yuʹminu biʹAayaatinaa fahum Muslimoon.

Nor can you lead the blind out of their misguidance. You can make none hear ˹the truth˺ except those who believe in Our revelations, ˹fully˺ submitting ˹to Allah˺.

Verse 30:54

اَللّٰهُ الَّذِیْ خَلَقَكُمْ مِّنْ ضُؔعْفٍ ثُمَّ جَعَلَ مِنْ بَعْدِ ضُؔعْفٍ قُوَّةً ثُمَّ جَعَلَ مِنْ بَعْدِ قُوَّةٍ ضُؔعْفًا وَّشَیْبَةً ؕ یَخْلُقُ مَا یَشَآءُ ۚ وَهُوَ الْعَلِیْمُ الْقَدِیْرُ ۟

ʹAllaahul laẓee khalaq̣akum miñ ḍaʻfiñ summa jaʻala mim baʻdi ḍaʻfiñ q̣uwwatañ s̤umma jaʻala mim baʻdi q̣uwwatiñ ḍaʻfañw washaybah: yakhluq̣u maa- yashaaaʹu wa-Huwal ʻAleemul Q̣adeer.

It is Allah Who created you in a state of weakness, then developed ˹your˺ weakness into strength, then developed ˹your˺ strength into weakness and old age. He creates whatever He wills. For He is the All-Knowing, Most Capable.

Verse 30:55

وَیَوْمَ تَقُوْمُ السَّاعَةُ یُقْسِمُ الْمُجْرِمُوْنَ ۙ۬ مَا لَبِثُوْا غَیْرَ سَاعَةٍ ؕ كَذٰلِكَ كَانُوْا یُؤْفَكُوْنَ ۟

Wa-Yawma taq̣oomus Saaʻatu yuq̣simul mujrimoona maa- labis̤oo g̣ayra saaʻah: kaẓaalika kaanoo yuʹfakoon!

And on the Day the Hour will arrive, the wicked will swear that they did not stay ˹in this world˺ more than an hour. In this way they were always deluded ˹in the world˺.

Verse 30:56

وَقَالَ الَّذِیْنَ اُوْتُوا الْعِلْمَ وَالْاِیْمَانَ لَقَدْ لَبِثْتُمْ فِیْ كِتٰبِ اللّٰهِ اِلٰى یَوْمِ الْبَعْثِ ؗ فَهٰذَا یَوْمُ الْبَعْثِ وَلٰكِنَّكُمْ كُنْتُمْ لَا تَعْلَمُوْنَ ۟

Wa-q̣aalal laẓeena ʹootul ʻilma wal-ʹeemaana laq̣ad labis̤tum fee Kitaabil laahi ʹilaa Yawmil Baʻs̤: fahaaẓaa Yawmul Baʻs̤i wa-laakinnakum kuñtum laa- taʻlamoon!

But those gifted with knowledge and faith will say ˹to them˺, “You did actually stay—as destined by Allah—until the Day of Resurrection. So here is the Day of Resurrection ˹which you denied˺! But you did not know ˹it was true˺.”

Verse 30:57

فَیَوْمَىِٕذٍ لَّا یَنْفَعُ الَّذِیْنَ ظَلَمُوْا مَعْذِرَتُهُمْ وَلَا هُمْ یُسْتَعْتَبُوْنَ ۟

Fa-Yawmaʹiẓil laa yañfaʻul laẓeena z̤̣alamoo maʻẓiratuhum wa-laa hum yustaʻtaboon.

So on that Day the wrongdoers’ excuses will not benefit them, nor will they be allowed to appease ˹their Lord˺.

Verse 30:58

وَلَقَدْ ضَرَبْنَا لِلنَّاسِ فِیْ هٰذَا الْقُرْاٰنِ مِنْ كُلِّ مَثَلٍ ؕ وَلَىِٕنْ جِئْتَهُمْ بِاٰیَةٍ لَّیَقُوْلَنَّ الَّذِیْنَ كَفَرُوْۤا اِنْ اَنْتُمْ اِلَّا مُبْطِلُوْنَ ۟

Wa-laq̣ad ḍarabnaa linnaasi fee haaẓal Q̣URʹAANI miñ kulli mas̤al: wa-laʹiñ jiʹtahum̃ biʹAayatil layaq̣oolannal laẓeena kafarooo ʹin ʹañtum ʹillaa mubṭiloon.

We have certainly set forth every ˹kind of˺ lesson for people in this Quran. And no matter what sign you bring to them ˹O Prophet˺, the disbelievers will definitely say ˹to the believers˺, “You are only a people of falsehood.”

Verse 30:59

كَذٰلِكَ یَطْبَعُ اللّٰهُ عَلٰى قُلُوْبِ الَّذِیْنَ لَا یَعْلَمُوْنَ ۟

Kaẓaalika yaṭbaʻul laahu ʻalaa q̣uloobil laẓeena laa- yaʻlamoon.

This is how Allah seals the hearts of those unwilling to know ˹the truth˺.

Verse 30:60

فَاصْبِرْ اِنَّ وَعْدَ اللّٰهِ حَقٌّ وَّلَا یَسْتَخِفَّنَّكَ الَّذِیْنَ لَا یُوْقِنُوْنَ ۟۠

Faṣbir ʹinna waʻdal laahi ḥaq̣q̣uñw walaa yastakhiffannakal laẓeena laa- yooq̣inoon.

So be patient, for the promise of Allah certainly is true. And do not be disturbed by those who have no sure faith.
