Background & benefit

Background

Another wording of the “Yā Muqallib al‑qulūb…” dua describes the Prophet ﷺ frequently asking for his heart to be made firm upon Allah’s religion and explaining that hearts are between Allah’s Fingers. The narration through Umm Salamah and Anas shows that repeated dua for steadfastness is a prophetic habit, even for the most guided of people. This gives comfort to believers who fear sudden changes in faith.

Benefit

Using this dua regularly can calm fears about losing faith while acknowledging that only Allah controls hearts, encouraging constant reliance and vigilance.

Reported in Jāmiʿ at‑Tirmidhī (3522/2140) and similar collections; generally graded hasan. Caution: Do not give the impression that a single recitation permanently “locks” the heart; steadiness comes from continuous dua and effort over a lifetime.
