Shuʿayb’s Words of Success Through Allah

Quran

وَمَا تَوْفِيقِي إِلَّا بِاللَّهِ ۚ عَلَيْهِ تَوَكَّلْتُ وَإِلَيْهِ أُنِيبُ

Transliteration

Wa mā tawfīqī illā billāh. ʿAlayhi tawakkaltu wa ilayhi unīb.

Translation

And my success is not but through Allah. Upon Him I have relied, and to Him I return.

Make Us Submit to You

رَبَّنَا وَاجْعَلْنَا مُسْلِمَيْنِ لَكَ وَمِنْ ذُرِّيَّتِنَا أُمَّةً مُسْلِمَةً لَكَ وَأَرِنَا مَنَاسِكَنَا وَتُبْ عَلَيْنَا ۖ إِنَّكَ أَنْتَ التَّوَّابُ الرَّحِيمُ

Rabbanā wajʿalnā muslimayni laka wa-min dhurriyyatinā ummatan muslimatan laka, wa-arinā manāsikanā wa-tub ʿalaynā, innaka anta at-tawwābu ar-raḥīm.

Our Lord, make us both submissive to You, and from our descendants a community submissive to You. Show us our rites and accept our repentance. Indeed, You are the Accepting of repentance, the Merciful.

Send Among Them a Messenger

رَبَّنَا وَابْعَثْ فِيهِمْ رَسُولًا مِّنْهُمْ يَتْلُو عَلَيْهِمْ آيَاتِكَ وَيُعَلِّمُهُمُ الْكِتَابَ وَالْحِكْمَةَ وَيُزَكِّيهِمْ ۚ إِنَّكَ أَنْتَ الْعَزِيزُ الْحَكِيمُ

Rabbanā wabʿath fīhim rasūlan minhum yatlū ʿalayhim āyātika wa-yuʿallimuhumu al-kitāba wal-ḥikmata wa-yuzakkīhim, innaka anta al-ʿazīzu al-ḥakīm.

Our Lord, send among them a messenger from themselves who will recite to them Your verses, teach them the Book and wisdom, and purify them. Indeed, You are the Exalted in Might, the Wise.

Cause Me to Die as a Muslim

فَاطِرَ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ أَنتَ وَلِيِّي فِي الدُّنْيَا وَالْآخِرَةِ ۖ تَوَفَّنِي مُسْلِمًا وَأَلْحِقْنِي بِالصَّالِحِينَ

Fāṭira as-samāwāti wal-arḍ, anta waliyyī fi ad-dunyā wal-ākhirah, tawaffanī musliman wa-alḥiqnī biṣ-ṣāliḥīn.

Creator of the heavens and the earth, You are my protector in this world and the Hereafter. Cause me to die as a Muslim and join me with the righteous.

Why this dua?

For a good ending, righteous company, and reliance on Allah in this world and the next.

Grant Me Wisdom and Join Me With the Righteous

رَبِّ هَبْ لِي حُكْمًا وَأَلْحِقْنِي بِالصَّالِحِينَ ۝ وَاجْعَل لِّي لِسَانَ صِدْقٍ فِي الْآخِرِينَ ۝ وَاجْعَلْنِي مِن وَرَثَةِ جَنَّةِ النَّعِيمِ

Rabbi hab lī ḥukman wa alḥiqnī biṣ-ṣāliḥīn. Wajʿal lī lisāna ṣidqin fil-ākhirīn. Wajʿalnī min warathati jannatin-naʿīm.

My Lord, grant me wisdom and join me with the righteous. And grant me an honorable mention among later generations. And make me among the inheritors of the Garden of Delight.
