Transliteration

Rabbanā afrigh ʿalaynā ṣabran wa-tawaffanā muslimīn.

رَبَّنَا لَا تَجْعَلْنَا فِتْنَةً لِلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا وَاغْفِرْ لَنَا رَبَّنَا إِنَّكَ أَنْتَ الْعَزِيزُ الْحَكِيمُ

Rabbanā lā tajʿalnā fitnatan lilladhīna kafarū, waghfir lanā rabbanā innaka antal-ʿazīzul-ḥakīm.

Our Lord, do not make us a trial for those who disbelieve, and forgive us, our Lord. Indeed, You are the Exalted in Might, the Wise.

رَبَّنَا اغْفِرْ لَنَا ذُنُوبَنَا وَإِسْرَافَنَا فِي أَمْرِنَا وَثَبِّتْ أَقْدَامَنَا وَانصُرْنَا عَلَى الْقَوْمِ الْكَافِرِينَ

Rabbanā ghfir lanā dhunūbanā wa-isrāfanā fī amrinā, wa-thabbit aqdāmanā, wa-nṣurnā ʿalā al-qawmi al-kāfirīn.

Our Lord, forgive us our sins and our excesses in our affairs, make our feet firm, and grant us victory over the disbelieving people.

For repentance, resilience, and remaining firm under pressure.

رَبَّنَا افْتَحْ بَيْنَنَا وَبَيْنَ قَوْمِنَا بِالْحَقِّ وَأَنتَ خَيْرُ الْفَاتِحِينَ

Rabbanā iftaḥ baynanā wa-bayna qawminā bil-ḥaqqi wa-anta khayru al-fātiḥīn.

Our Lord, decide between us and our people in truth, and You are the best of those who decide.

فَقَالُوا عَلَى اللَّهِ تَوَكَّلْنَا رَبَّنَا لَا تَجْعَلْنَا فِتْنَةً لِلْقَوْمِ الظَّالِمِينَ ۝ وَنَجِّنَا بِرَحْمَتِكَ مِنَ الْقَوْمِ الْكَافِرِينَ

Faqālū ʿalā llāhi tawakkalnā, rabbana lā tajʿalnā fitnatan lil-qawmi ẓ-ẓālimīn. Wa najjinā biraḥmatika mina l-qawmi l-kāfirīn.

“They said, ‘In Allah we trust. Our Lord, do not make us a trial for the wrongdoing people, and save us by Your mercy from the disbelieving people.’”

Why this dua?

For protection from oppressive people and rescue through Allah’s mercy.
