رَبِّ أَنزِلْنِي مُنزَلًا مُّبَارَكًا وَأَنتَ خَيْرُ الْمُنزِلِينَ

Transliteration

Rabbi anzilni munzalan mubarakan wa anta khayrul-munzilin

Translation

My Lord, grant me a blessed landing, for You are the best to settle and host.

Background

This is Nūḥ’s dua as the Ark settles after the flood: he asks for a blessed disembarkation and acknowledges that Allah can best grant such blessings After years of daʿwah, rejection, and the flood, this short supplication marks a new beginning on land purified from open idolatry. It reflects gratitude, safety, and a fresh start by Allah’s permission

رَبِّ اجْعَلْ هَذَا الْبَلَدَ آمِنًا وَاجْنُبْنِي وَبَنِيَّ أَن نَّعْبُدَ الْأَصْنَامَ

Rabbi-j‘al hadhal-balad aminan wajnubni wa baniyya an na‘budal-asnam

My Lord, make this land safe and keep me and my children away from idol worship.

Why this dua?

It teaches a believer to worry more about faith than material comfort, and to regularly ask Allah for personal and family protection from all forms of shirk—obvious and hidden.

رَبِّ اجْعَلْ هَٰذَا بَلَدًا آمِنًا وَارْزُقْ أَهْلَهُ مِنَ الثَّمَرَاتِ مَنْ آمَنَ مِنْهُمْ بِاللَّهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الْآخِرِ

Rabbijʿal hādhā baladan āminan warzuq ahlahū mina ath-thamarāti man āmana minhum billāhi wal-yawmil-ākhir.

My Lord, make this a secure city and provide its people with fruits—whoever of them believes in Allah and the Last Day.

Make Us Submit to You

رَبَّنَا وَاجْعَلْنَا مُسْلِمَيْنِ لَكَ وَمِنْ ذُرِّيَّتِنَا أُمَّةً مُسْلِمَةً لَكَ وَأَرِنَا مَنَاسِكَنَا وَتُبْ عَلَيْنَا ۖ إِنَّكَ أَنْتَ التَّوَّابُ الرَّحِيمُ

Rabbanā wajʿalnā muslimayni laka wa-min dhurriyyatinā ummatan muslimatan laka, wa-arinā manāsikanā wa-tub ʿalaynā, innaka anta at-tawwābu ar-raḥīm.

Our Lord, make us both submissive to You, and from our descendants a community submissive to You. Show us our rites and accept our repentance. Indeed, You are the Accepting of repentance, the Merciful.
