Dua for Forgiveness Before Tasleem

Hadith/Dhikr

اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي ظَلَمْتُ نَفْسِي ظُلْمًا كَثِيرًا، وَلَا يَغْفِرُ الذُّنُوبَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ، فَاغْفِرْ لِي مَغْفِرَةً مِنْ عِنْدِكَ، وَارْحَمْنِي، إِنَّكَ أَنْتَ الْغَفُورُ الرَّحِيمُ

Transliteration

Allāhumma innī ẓalamtu nafsī ẓulman kathīrā, wa lā yaghfiru adh-dhunūba illā anta, faghfir lī maghfiratan min ʿindik, warḥamnī, innaka anta al-ghafūru ar-raḥīm.

Translation

O Allah, I have wronged myself greatly, and none forgives sins except You. So forgive me with forgiveness from You and have mercy on me. Indeed, You are the Most Forgiving, the Most Merciful.

سُبْحَانَكَ اللَّهُمَّ وَبِحَمْدِكَ، أَشْهَدُ أَنْ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ، أَسْتَغْفِرُكَ وَأَتُوبُ إِلَيْكَ

Subḥānaka Allāhumma wa biḥamdik, ashhadu an lā ilāha illā anta, astaghfiruka wa atūbu ilayk.

Glory is to You, O Allah, and praise. I bear witness that there is no god worthy of worship except You. I seek Your forgiveness and repent to You.

I Seek Refuge From Asking What I Have No Knowledge Of

رَبِّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ أَنْ أَسْأَلَكَ مَا لَيْسَ لِي بِهِ عِلْمٌ ۖ وَإِلَّا تَغْفِرْ لِي وَتَرْحَمْنِي أَكُن مِّنَ الْخَاسِرِينَ

Rabbi innī aʿūdhu bika an asʾalaka mā laysa lī bihi ʿilm, wa-illā taghfir lī wa-tarḥamnī akun mina al-khāsirīn.

My Lord, I seek refuge in You from asking You for that of which I have no knowledge. And unless You forgive me and have mercy on me, I will be among the losers.

Why this dua?

For humility, knowledge, and seeking forgiveness when one misunderstands a matter.

Do Not Burden Us Beyond Our Capacity

رَبَّنَا لَا تُؤَاخِذْنَا إِن نَّسِينَا أَوْ أَخْطَأْنَا رَبَّنَا وَلَا تَحْمِلْ عَلَيْنَا إِصْرًا كَمَا حَمَلْتَهُ عَلَى الَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِنَا رَبَّنَا وَلَا تُحَمِّلْنَا مَا لَا طَاقَةَ لَنَا بِهِ وَاعْفُ عَنَّا وَاغْفِرْ لَنَا وَارْحَمْنَا أَنتَ مَوْلَانَا فَانصُرْنَا عَلَى الْقَوْمِ الْكَافِرِينَ

Rabbana la tu’akhidhna in nasina aw akhta’na, rabbana wa la tahmil ‘alayna isran kama hamaltahu ‘alalladhina min qablina, rabbana wa la tuhammilna ma la taqata lana bih, wa‘fu ‘anna waghfir lana warhamna, anta mawlana fansurna ‘alal-qawm il-kafirin

Our Lord, do not take us to task if we forget or make mistakes. Do not place on us a burden like those before us. Do not burden us beyond what we can bear. Pardon us, forgive us, and have mercy on us. You are our Protector, so grant us victory.
