Virtue and context
Suhayb (raḍiy Allāhu ʿanhu) reported that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ told the story of a believing boy persecuted by a king. After the boy refused to abandon his faith, the king sent him with courtiers to the top of a mountain so they could throw him down if he still refused. The boy asked Allah to save him from them in whatever way He willed. The mountain shook, the courtiers fell, and the boy returned safely to the king.
The king then sent him with another group in a boat, ordering them to throw him into the sea if he would not renounce his faith. The boy again asked Allah to save him from them and from what they intended. The boat overturned, his captors drowned, and he returned safely once more.
